Ho hum

Yesterday was a boring day. Mom got home late and when she did it was storming. Needless to say, we didn't get to go out and play:( A little later mom and dad went to bocce. I wanted to go, but mom said it was too hot and it was still raining a little. So I slept on my ottoman more out of bordem then anything. Mom came home a couple hours later and she did take me for a walk. It had cooled off after the last storm and wasn't raining anymore so mom said since I wasn't able to go out earlier, we'd go now. It was nice and cool and I really enjoyed the walk. My sniffer was working in overdrive since we hadn't taken a walk in a while. That's only because it's been so hot and I've busy doing other fun stuff. At least I did get out for a little last night. Mom said tonight we'll practice diving before she heads to the dock dogs meeting so I'm looking forward to that. Plus, it's Gizmo's birthday and mom will be giving her something special and I know my mom well which means that when one of us gets something special, the other usually does too:)

Yipee! My profile is now on the Keystone Dock Dogs website. Check it out: http://www.keystonedockdogs.com/teamchloe.html Mom said they have my birthday wrong, but they'll fix it. I now feel like a true part of the club:)

Last night we didn't do much. It was really HOT! Mom said dad just shocked the pool so I couldn't go in... mean daddy! So I just spent the day and evening in the house. When mom got home she did her exercise then we did play a little tug. She tried to clip me, but decided against it because she doesn't have clippers and has to use scissors. Boy am I glad she changed her mind because I love my mom, but she butchers me up pretty bad when she tries to give me a haircut. She said she might get some clippers so she can then make me look beautiful:)

Not sure what's on the agenda for today, but I doubt swimming will be a part of it. Mom put that stinky stuff on me like she does once a month. She said it keeps them pesky fleas and ticks off of me. I'm glad for that, but I hate that I can't swim for a day and that it stinks so bad... YUCK! Oh well, I guess I can deal without better than being bitten by bugs.

Any who...... I hope everyone else who's suffering from this heatwave is keeping cool!

Lots of swimming

Friday night I didn't get to go to flyball practice. Mom's back went out and she took a pain pill that knocked her out. Even if she didn't take the pill, she wouldn't have been able to take me to flyball because it hurt too much. Poor mom:(

Saturday mom got Megan. We stopped at the barn to check on Tequilla, but didn't stay long since mom's back still hurt. Mom just gave her a few carrots and made sure she wasn't too sweaty, which she wasn't yet. After that, we went home and we swam all day. It was so hot that it felt really good to be in the pool. Mom just floated around, but Megan played with me and we had fun! Mom and dad were gone for a few hours that evening, not sure what they were doing, but I took advantage of the quiet time and I slept.

Sunday it was pool time again. The people that are going to this place called Outer Banks with mom and dad came over. And guess who else came? My friend Brittney!!! Britt and I had fun swimming and running around playing. It was another hot day so we spent more time in the pool then out of it. Needless to say, when everyone finally went home and mom and dad settled down for the night, I crashed hard! I curled up on my ottoman and was out. Even this morning when mom tried to get me up to go to the bathroom before she left for work, I didn't want to go. I did though because I didn't know what time dad would get up. Usually when I come back in the house I go with mom downstairs to get a treat, but like I said, I was really tired so I went back to bed with dad. Mom laughs because I sleep with my head under the bed and she couldn't believe when she came back to the bedroom that I was there, with my head under the bed and that I passed up on a treat. Hey, that swimming and heat takes a lot out of a doggie, but it sure is worth it!!

Not sure what's on the agenda for the week, but if it's going to be hot again, I either want to be in the house or in the pool!

I'm getting faster!

Last night I went with mom to the barn. It was still really hot and sticky so mom said we'll just hose Tequilla off and let her graze a little since they would probably be in yet again. Well, low and behold when we got there they horses were going out!!! Mom was so excited and so was Tequilla. She was whining and carrying on like an idiot. Mom did get her out and grazed her until it was her turn to go out. When mom turned her loose, she took off at a flat out gallop the entire length of the pasture. It was awesome! Then her herdmate Lacey joined her and they raced each other from one end of the pasture to the other then were bucking and carrying on like nuts. Needless to say, I stay on the opposite side of the fence with mom out of harms way. Mom was really happy that they finally went out.

When we got home, mom practiced my dryland training for diving. She said I keep getting faster and faster. Last night my fastest time for the 40 ft. run was 2.34 seconds. Pretty fast, huh? She also started to hold the decoy and let it go just as I get there so I know to grab it in mid-air. After that, we went to the pool and practiced running, grabbing and jumping. Mom said I did really well. The only thing I'm being a hard head about is bringing the decoy back. I'll go get it, bring it half way then let it go floating off. Now, mom won't let me out of the pool until I bring it back. I get so mad at her when she won't let me out that I bark at her. She told me "too bad, you need to bring it out of the water". Finally, I did it once and she was really happy and gave me lots of hugs. Maybe that light bulb will click and I'll do it all the time now. Who knows, sometimes my mind has a mind of it's own .. LOL :D

After practice, mom updated a few photos on my page, sent in the rest of my info and photos for the Keystone page then we watched some movie where this girl was spending money like crazy. It was pretty funny:) Not sure what's on tap for the weekend, but I'll be sure to fill everyone in. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer as much as I am!

Rory the aussie made it!!

Last night mom cut the grass. I stayed in the house most of the time because it was really hot. Later in the evening when it got a little cooler, mom practiced my dryland training for diving. I have to run really hard and really fast for 40 feet. Mom said I did really good and ran it in 2.97 seconds. I still need to be faster, but mom said that will come. I did jump in the pool once to cool off, but we didn't do any practicing in the water last night. After that, we sat in the garage and watched as it rained... and boy did it ever rain! It rained so hard you couldn't even see the house across the street! My Brett stopped by and I was happy to see him:) I haven't seen him in quite a while. After Brett left, we all went in and it was time to see who won AGT from the previous night. Rory the aussie did his frisbee thing and we loved him, but he was in the last group to be eliminated. He was up against this guy who was a really good singer so we knew he wouldn't make it. It was up to the judges since the people only vote the first 4. Of course we knew Piers wouldn't vote for Rory since he buzzed him the first night. David said he liked the variety so he went with Rory. Now it was on Sharon. She was so confused she didn't know what to do then she said "Tony" and none of us, even Tony expected it. Tony is Rory's owner... RORY MADE IT TO THE SEMI-FINALS!!! Mom was so happy, although she did admit that the singer should have won because he was really good. I was really happy and can't wait to see what Rory brings next! His owner does need to be sure he throws the frisbees correctly though or Rory will make mistakes that he can't help. I'll be keeping my paws crossed for Rory in the semi-finals. GO RORY!!!!

Sad news :'(

Mom just told me that my dog daddy passed away:'( She called the lady who she got me from in South Carolina to tell her how well I'm doing in dock diving and that's when she told her that my dog daddy passed away a little while ago. Even though I was taken from my mom and dad early, I still remember them when I was young and I'm sad that he's no longer with us. He crossed over that rainbow and one day, when my time on this earth is done, I'll cross over that rainbow and join him running in the fields. God bless, miss and love you daddy.

Really upset

Last night mom had her lesson. They only rode for 1/2 hour because it was so hot then Tequilla got a good bath. After the bath mom went to put Tequilla out in the pasture for a little. They haven't been out since Thursday so mom really wanted to get her out. Well, most of the other horses were out because one of the boarders put them out so mom had to take Tequilla to a pasture other then her usual one. Tequilla didn't like that at all! She ran as fast as she could to the other end screaming then back. Mom was afraid she would get hurt so she took her out. Tequilla reared up on her and was really bad. Mom wasn't mad at her though because she said she was just really upset because she hasn't been out in days. Mom was REALLY UPSET and started flipping out about the horses never going out. The owner of the farm just happened to be there and confronted mom. Well, mom didn't hold back and told her exactly what was on her mind. She wasn't mean to the owner, but she did tell her that it was ridiculous that the horses never go out. The owner claims that if there is 40% chance of storms they don't turn them out. Mom doesn't want Tequilla out in storms either, but in the summer, almost everyday you can have a storm so they can't stay in the entire summer. Plus, mom said they have two pastures with run in sheds so the very least 2 groups could go out even if storms are coming. I don't know what's going to happen, but I know I haven't seen Tequilla or mom that upset for a very long time. Seeing them both upset then made me upset and I crashed from all the adrenaline when we got home. Poor Tequilla. I couldn't imagine being stuck in a 12x12 box for days on end. And because mom lives so far from the farm, she can't even work with any of the boarders to be sure Tequilla gets out in the evenings. Boy, we really can't wait to move to our farm, but that's still 6 years away:( So, as you can see, it wasn't a very good night and I'm hoping today is better.

P.S. We watched AGT last night and Rory the aussie did pretty good. He did miss catching a couple frisbees and got buzzes by that mean Mr. Morgan guy, but mom gave him lots of votes so we're hoping he comes back for the next round. Keep your paws crossed!!

Crazy hot!

Yesterday was a crazy hot day. Mom came home then went to her WW meeting. When she got home, I got to go swimming!!! First we practiced diving, then speed retrieve, then mom just let me play and have fun in the pool. It felt really good to be in there since it was so hot out. Although, the water was kind of warm, but it was still refreshing. Mom said I'm getting a little better at getting height, but we still have a long way to go. She said she's not sure if we'll compete in speed retrieve in September or not, depends on how I'm doing. Right now it takes me about 10 seconds to get the duck. I know some of you might think that's fast, but to put it in prospective of how fast other doggies go, the world record is 4.2 seconds!! I'll never be that fast, but mom said if I can pull between 5-7 seconds then I'll be good to go:) After swimming, we just hung in the house because it was so hot outside. Mom said same hot temps today so I don't know what we'll be doing. It's usually riding lesson night, but mom said it will probably be too hot, but we might still go see Tequilla and hose her off which will make her feel better. Me, I'm just going to stay in the house and stay cool while mom's at work.

A nice weekend

As mom promised, we went to the mountains this past weekend. We left Thursday, but not until late. Actually, mom and I went for a trail ride with Tequilla before we left and that was really nice. It's been a while since we were able to do that because it's been so hot. Anyway, we didn't get to the mountains until almost midnight and I was really tired. We got unpacked and watched a little TV, but then hit the hay which I was glad for.

The next day, mom and I went tubing. Dad had to stay at the cabin because some friends were coming so someone had to be there. Poor dad, he never gets to have any fun. But mom and I sure did! It was nice being with mom and the water was still cold, but not as cold as last time. The water was moving pretty good and we had no problems going over the ripples. Well, okay, not a major problem. On the 4th set of ripples, the water was moving pretty fast and made some pretty big waves (nothing like whitewater rafting though so don't panic). Anyway, mom lays down and I usually lay beside her, but for some stupid reason, I decided to stand up. Well, let me tell you, that wasn't a good thing. The next thing I knew I was in the water!! We hit a wave and it just bounced me right off the tube. Neither one of us panicked though because I had my vest on and let's face it, I'm a dock diving dog so I know how to swim. I swam the rest of the way out of the ripples then joined back up with mom and got back on the tube. Needless to say, next time I'll stay laying! It was kind of fun though:) When we got to the bridge where we get out, our friends had arrived. We all hung out for alittle while then went for a ride. We went to High Knob lookout and I got to run all over because there was no one else there. Then we went to the property, but instead of walking back the trail, our friend took his truck and we went 4 wheeling. That was lots of fun!!! We bounced all around and were crashing through the woods, it was really cool. After that, we did get out and played a little frisbee in the field, but it was pretty hot so that didn't last long. When we got back, it was dinner time and I even had some yummy steak!!! Later we went spotting deer, but only saw a few. I slept most of the way since I was pretty tired from my exciting day.

Saturday we went for a ride to the waterfall and I was okay until mom disappeared down the hill. She went down to take pictures of our friends from below the waterfall, but I wasn't paying attention and didn't see how she got down there and I didn't like being away from my mom!! She finally came back up and I let her know I wasn't happy with her for disappearing on me like that. After our trip to the waterfall, we went back to the cabin and took a little nap. When we got up, mom playing ball with me, but then they all went away and left me there:( Mom told me they were going to town to eat dinner then to the outhouse races. I have no idea what an "outhouse race" is, but I would have liked to see it. When they got back, mom said it was good I didn't go because there were so many people and it was so crowded that I wouldn't have liked it. She said a little dog that was next to her got stepped on three times by people. She's right, I wouldn't have liked that at all!!! Of course, my mom probably would have ended up getting in trouble because she never would have let anyone get close enough to step on me and would have told people to move. That's my mom!!!! We did play tug a little when they got home, but it was raining so we couldn't go spotting deer which I always like to do.

Sunday we got up, packed, cleaned the cabin then headed home. When we got home it was really HOT and even though I would have liked to go swimming, I have to agree with mom that it wouldn't have been too refreshing because it was so hot out and the water was over 80 degrees. Instead, mom gave me a good, cool bath which was nice because I smelled like the creek. Then just as we settled down to watch TV, a really bad storm blew up, and I mean it was bad! The wind was whipping, lightening flashing, thunder booming and the rain was coming down so hard you could barely see across the street. And of course, guess who had to pee? Yep, you got it! I had to go really bad and mom kept telling me to wait until the storm passed, but I just couldn't hold it. So mom opened the door for me and I ran out and ran right back in! She was right, it was raining too hard and it stung when it hit me so I just held it. There was no way I was going back out in that mess. A few mintues later if finally slowed down so I went out and did my thing and felt much better:) These summer storms can be brutal! So, that was my exciting weekend.

Oh yeah, I did forget one thing. It wasn't anything exciting, but really strange. Last night when we were watching TV, my belly was making some really strange noises. Mom and dad were both concerned because they never heard it like that before. Dad said it sounded like a stomach of someone who had the flu. I'm not sure what was going on with my belly because it didn't hurt and I didn't feel sick, but it was making really, really weird sounds.

New videos

Last night mom finally got my dock diving video finished and posted. However, she said she's not happy with the quality of the clip. She's not sure what she's doing wrong when she transfers it from her editing software to dogster, but it really reduces the picture. I have no idea what she means by that, but I know she worked really hard on it and I hope people like it even if it's not the best quality. She did say she'll try to fix it when she gets a chance. But at least you can see me diving in two of my comps, including the weekend from a couple weeks ago.

Before mom started working on my video again, we practiced speed retrieving and dry land for dock diving. Mom said I'm getting really good at focusing on the decoy in dry land training and pretty soon we'll take it to the pool and see if I jump higher, which will then help me go farther. As far as speed retrieving, mom said we need lots of practice. I know what to do, but I'm kind of slow:( Some of the doggies get the decoy in like 5-7 seconds... unbelievable! Me, I get it in about 12-14:'( But mom said it doesn't matter, as long as I'm having fun and believe me, I am:D I just love to swim and anytime I can be in the water, it makes me happy. I'm sure if I keep practicing I'll get faster.

Mom said this weekend we're going to the mountains. I don't know if we're leaving tonight or tomorrow, it depends on what time daddy gets home from work. If we don't leave tonight, mom said we might to see Tequilla. I'd like that because we only got to go one day so far this week.

Well, I gotta run. I probably won't be posting again until after the weekend. Have fun everyone!!

P.S. Grandma Lee on AGT got top votes and is moving on the the semi-finals!!!!!!
