A Day in the Life of Cali Budd...

the nightmare of a lifetime

Notice that I titled that the NIGHTMARE of a lifetime...not the ADVENTURE of a lifetime. When people think of adventure, they usually think of fun and living on the edge. Well, I was living on the edge alright, but it was definitely not my idea of fun!

On October 19, 2008 my daddy was at the gas station before the Panthers game. When he came back to the car, I was gone! I had escaped through the window and was walking around all of the tanks looking for him! Suddenly I was picked up by this man and thrown in their car. There was a woman in the car too, but they were not my mommy and daddy! They took me to a nice park with a big lake and we went fishing. There was a really nice couple there who had a Rottie puppy--she was so nice at first! This couple took me home with them--it was so far away from my home! At first, it was ok, but then this other puppy had beef with me! She started picking on me and wouldn't let me play with any of her toys and she didn't want to share. So I had to fight back! The couple put me outside in the cold. There was a fence there and I wanted to go home so bad! I missed my mommy and daddy! I chewed and dug through the fence twice and escaped and the couple was so worried about my safety that they took me to the pound to be adopted!

Luckily, mommy and daddy were determined to find me. Mommy posted a flyer at the Starbucks we always go to beside the house. A very nice man saw my picture and called daddy. The nice couple that took me home came to get me from the pound the very next day. They drove me all the way back home, too.

I was so excited to see daddy when he came to pick me up! He even brought my favorite toy--pinky piggy--when he came! It was the greatest moment ever! I had been so scared that I would never see mommy and daddy again! Plus I got to go home to my new brother, Max.

I was gone a total of 2 weeks and it was terrible. Mommy and daddy are being very careful about letting me ride in the car and now they strap me in every time we go anywhere! But mostly I'm just enjoying being at home and getting used to Max. I have a little cold and my allergies are acting up, but the doctor says it's nothing to worry about. I'm taking medicine and will be all better in no time!
