Yesterday Mom, Dad and I went on a little road trip. We headed to Guelph to visit an Ibizan Hound named Merlin.
Merlin will be boarding a plane today and heading to Moncton, New Brunswick where he will live with his new family, most notably with fellow Ibizan Priscilla.
We've never met an Ibizan before and we were all very excited. Those of you who are pals with Miss P, know she's a smooth coat Ibizan and her colouring is a shade of orange with white striping.
Merlin has a wired coat and he's more a beige/sandy colour. We also met Merlin's Dad, Oberon. Yeah, can you believe it? He has the same name as the coyote from Cookie's Sirius Rising adventure. How cool is that?! We also met Merlin's grandma, Medea.
Oberon is a long coat and Medea was white in colouring. You can check out the photos on my page. We didn't know that there were so many variances within the Ibizan world.
Getting back to Merlin. He was very shy at first. Cautious of Dad. I was still in the car, watching with my head out the sunroof. Merlin was very interested and keep looking at me. I think he wanted to try having his head out the sunroof.
This was the first time that Merlin had left his home and gone on an adventure. He was a little nervous and unsure of what was going on. He trotted around the yard with a wonderful bounce in his step. His tail is long and curls at the tip. You know what else, he has a very long and lean body. I bet he can run like the wind.
After a few minutes, Merlin warmed up and Dad gave him a good neck rub. He has striking eyes. Dad said that one look into those eyes and like magic he had him under his spell. BOL!!!!
When Oberon came out to visit, Dad took me out of the car and we gave each other a good sniff. I later also met Medea and we started to play dance.
A wonderful family. Merlin I know you will love your new family. Have a safe journey tonight my wizardry friend.

A sweet angel pup named Talia tagged me for a new summer game. I'm sure Rosie must have directed her my way. She knows I love games.
Here's how you play: There are five questions for you to answer, and then you tag your pals (as many as you like!), inviting them to answer the questions in their diaries and then tag their friends!
The only new rule is...if a pup pal has been tagged by ANY OTHER PUP they CANNOT be tagged again. (No repeat tagging) So, let's start and have some summer fun. TAG YOU'RE IT!!
HERE WE GO!!!
1. WHERE DO YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT?
I sleep in bed with Mom and Dad. Lately, I've been getting a little hot and as a result I've headed to my own bedroom and my bed. You really can't blame me. I get to stretch out and have the bed all to myself.
2. DO YOU HAVE A NICKNAME(S) THAT YOUR PAWRENTS CALL YOU?
Oh yes. Both Mom and Dad call me The Rye Rye. Dad also calls me Mr. Barky Von Schnauzer or Barky for short. My pal, the O-Man calls me Riley-Rilerson. My pal Ately and I refer to ourselves as the "Ley" brothers because both our names end in "ley".
3. NOW THAT IT'S SUMMER, WILL YOU BE GETTING MORE COLD TREATS LIKE FROSTY PAWS, ICE CUBES OR ICE CREAM, ETC.?
Ice cream for sure. Just last night I got to finish off Mom's milkshake.
4. NOW THAT SUMMER IS HERE, DO YOU HAVE A SWIMMING POOL YOU USE WHEN ITS HOT?
No way. No how. I don't like to get wet. Just yesterday I was running like a mad man and Dad saw me drop and roll. Well, I guess it wasn't the most pleasant thing to roll in, but I liked it. Dad cut our walk short and I got a bath. Sometimes my Dad can be very stern. Last night was one of those times.
5. WHAT'S ONE THING YOU DO THAT DRIVES YOUR PAWRENTS CRAZY?
I don't do anything that drives my pawrents crazy. I'm the best boy ever. Deep down I know Dad wishes he could be just like me.
I'll have to think about who I will select. I don't want to repeat.
Enjoy pals and I'll update later with my selections.
Okay, I'm going to select the following pals to play.
1. Mr. JackFreckles
4. Oliver Louis

I'd like to take this opportunity to give a big bark-out to my pal, Ernie George. I know a lot of you are friends with him.
EG, me and my family love you and yours and our thoughts are with you. You are the Dogfather of Sunset Blvd, but more importantly, you're the Dogfather of our hearts.
Back in May a few of you may remember that on my birthday, Dad told me that my big present was coming in 8 weeks.
Guess what? Eight weeks have arrived!!!
On Saturday we went and picked up my niece, Caileigh.
Oh she's a heartbreaker!!!
She's following me around and asking me all sorts of questions. Dad told me that I have a new job. I'm to be her mentor. I think this is going to be fun.
We've already gone on a few walks on the trails. I have to say, she's very cool. She hasn't bugged me at all. It's been really great.
So pals, head by her page. I've told her all about Dogster and she can't wait to be friends with all of you.

. . . unless you're a pointer!!
Yesterday, Mom, Dad, my new niece Caileigh and I took off on our trails for a early evening stroll.
Caileigh sure is a fast learner. She just loves the trails. Hey, who wouldn't?
She's always watching me and trying her hardest to keep up, but my legs are much longer and when I'm in my element, I only have eyes for critters.
My Mom had my leash and Dad had Caileigh. At one point during the walk, I was up ahead and we came to a bend in the trail. I paused as I peered around the bend. Right there in the middle of the trail was a big, fat rabbit.
I turned and looked back at Cailiegh. "Come on, girl!" I barked. "This is what we live for," I continued.
Where was Caileigh you might ask. Well, she was off to the side of the trail taking a header into the tall grass. Dad stood over her while she flopped on her back and squirmed. She was looking up at him with her puppy-dog eyes.
"Oh geez!" I stammered. All the times she should be watching me. Learning by example and she's rolling in the grass. I turned back to the rabbit and "SNAP" into my point I went. Frozen, rigid, unbending, focused.
Caileigh? She was still in the grass rolling.
By the time she pulled it together and approached my statue-like, glorious point, the rabbit hopped away.
Next time, kid. Next time.

I've been tagged by my pal Freckles for a summer game. You know what else? Caileigh was tagged by Saphira. She's very excited about her first game . . . and it gives me a chance for some peace. That girl is always wanting to play. I'll help her out with the question but at least she won't be nipping at my jowls and ears.
So here we go with my questions.
1. Do you ever wake your parents up in the night?
Never!!! In fact I get mad at my folks if they wake me up. I'm a good sleeper and I love to sleep in. Dad's alarm goes off but I don't move at all. Not until it's time to take him to the train.
2. Do you ever tear up things?
Not really anymore. I used to tear up newspapers and my stuffies. I also used to chew on electronics and books. I'm 4 years old now and very mature. My tearing days are in the past.
3. What is your favorite treat?
I love liver treats. I love chicken, but I don't really consider chicken a treat because i get it so often. I love sharing pepperoni with Dad.
4. Can you fetch something when asked to do so?
Not really. I'm a pointer not a retriever. Sometimes we'll play ball and I bring it back but I don't drop it right at Dad's feet. He has to chase me a little to get me to drop it.
5. Have you ever lived any place other than where you live now?
I've lived in three houses. First when I went to live with my folks we lived in a townhouse. Then we moved around the corner to a detached house. After a year and a half we moved a few blocks over to the exact same house, it just looks different on the outside. Can you believe that? My folks are crazy. They bought the same house just a few streets over. Just other day Dad had a moving truck and he was putting furniture in it. I said to Caileigh, "here we go, we're moving again." We weren't moving, Dad was just loading up the house to stage one of Mom's listings.
The good things is we have always lived in the same awesome neighbourhood. Surrounded by trails and wildlife and open fields.
So there you have it. I'm going to help Caileigh out with hers and then we'll send out a message to the pups we'll tag.
Thanks for tagging me, Freckles.

On Monday, Dad and I set out for one of our legendary walks. We travel along the trails of our neighbour and head into the big Provincial Park and I run the fields until my tongue falls from my mouth.
I know the trail like the back of my paw.
On this day we took a route we don't normally take, just to shake things up a little bit. We reached an area where Dad let me off leash and I headed off the trail down into a valley near our first house in our community. Recently we've had some hard rains, so the fields are very overgrown.
Dad continued along the trail thinking that would be heading in the same direction. After several minutes I emerged from the feild but Dad was no where to be seen. Because of all the growth I couldn't see down the trail.
I had to find my Dad right away. Instead of heading in the direction where Dad was, I headed back the way we had came. Dad started calling for me, but I was out of ear-shot.
Dad doubled back along the trail and a neighbour told him that I had gone the other way. Dad freaked!!!!!
He wasn't worried about me being on the trail. He knew I could find my way without any problems. What worried him was that I had to cross a very busy road. The main road into our community and often cars drove fast along the road.
Dad started to run and calling my name. He came to the road and I wasn't anywhere to be seen. This was a good thing, because it meant I made it across without any problems.
Dad continued running and calling me.
I was in a full panic. I was passing back and forth on the trail, looking everywhere for Dad. Every two steps forward, I would turn and take a step back.
Dad continued to run on the trail. Another neighbour said that I had been running back and forth on the trail.
Dad was getting short of breath and horse from calling my name. Just then he heard a woman's voice call out that she had me.
Boy was I happy to see Dad.
Dad was very relieved to find me. He knew I was heading home and to do that I would have had to cross a few roads again, although these roads aren't very busy.
The lady said she had followed me along the trail and that I was clearly upset and searching for Dad. She said I was in panic mode and wouldn't pay any attention to her or take any water. I was just searching and searching.
Needless to say, this ordeal cut our legendary walk short. Dad gave me lots of kisses and a big hug. He wasn't mad at me at all. He said it was his fault for not calling out to me when I was in the fields so I knew where he was.
I told Dad it was the rain's fault for helping the fields grow so high that I couldn't see him on the trail.

First I would like to give a big bark-out to my pal, Ernie George. His family has a big boat and just recently they named it . . . wait for it . . . you got it, the Ernie George.
His new photo shows the back of the boat with the name plate and a picture of himself. Super cool, EG!!!!
This brings me to my news. No, I don't have a boat. Some of you may remember how much I love cruising around with my Mom. She's a Realtor and spends a lot of time in her car. That's where you can also find me. I like to call it "My Office."
Something tells me that in the near future I may have to hire an assistant (aka Caileigh). When she's big enough and good enough, I'm sure she'll also be joining me in my office.
For the longest time we were a 1 car family. Just recently, Dad bought himself a Nissan Pathfinder. On the weekend we went cruising. He put all the seats down and let me tell you, IT'S HUGE!!!
I call it "My Bachelor Pad!"
Dad laughs and says it's bigger than the loft he used to own. I love all the space, and don't you worry, I can still stand on the centre console and have my head out the sunroof.
I'm thinking of having a Bachelor Pad warming party and I hope all my pals can make it!!!

I'd like to give a bark-out to a few pals.
Both Freckles and Demon Flash Bandit are diary picks today. Congrats guys!!!!!
I'd also like to say hi to my pal, Quincy. Have a great weekend, Buddy!
I'd also like to say, "Aye Cap'n!" to my pal Ernie George. I hope it's going to be nice this weekend in Minnesota so you can take the helm of the mighty Ernie George sea vessel and sail the water ways of the Twin Cities.
Yesterday, I got to hang out with my furdad. His name is Theo and he lives with my sister, Miyah, grandma Fiona and one niece and two nephews.
Mom was showing his Mom some rural properties. They're looking at moving from Toronto to the country. So Theo and I got to run the properties and let his Mom know what we thought of the land.
Tomorrow, Caileigh and I are going to a pointer party. If you remember, I went to the same party last year. There will be 30+ pointers there.
Last year I got to hang out with Miyah and Fiona. This year, they won't be coming, but Caileigh's siblings will be. It'll be great for her to see them. We're keeping it a surprise for her.
I'll make sure we get some photos, although Dad always gets busy and forgets to take some. We'll for sure get a family shot.
Well, have a great weekend, pals!!!!!

On Saturday, I jumped into my new bachelor pad and settled in for the drive to the annual pointer party. This year, Caileigh was coming along with us. We had a big surprise for her; one she would really love.
The two of us slept for the drive, saving our energy for all the fun we were about to have. When we arrived I ran to the back to see all of the pointers. Caileigh followed behind on leash.
Mom and I headed straight for the big fenced in field and I ran around with a large pack of pointers. There were black and whites, liver and whites, and orange and whites (like my Cuz, Winston).
Caileigh visited with those not in the field. She was a big hit.
Shortly after we arrived the games began. Some of you might remember that last year I won the musical hula-hoop contest. Dad had said to me on the drive up that if I didn't repeat as champ that I wouldn't be able to come home. I looked at Mom when Dad said that and she shock her head indicating that what he had said wasn't true.
Well, guess what? It didn't matter if it was true or not because I WON AGAIN!!!!
I was even better at this year than I was last year. I remembered how to play and my instinct took over. When the music stops you have to get inside a hula-hoop and sit. Mom didn't even have to tap my bum this year.
While the games were on, a black and white puppy came up to Dad and Caileigh. The pup was much bigger than Caileigh and Dad wondered who this pup was. When he looked up he saw that it was Gen, Caileigh's breeder.
The pup was Caileigh's sister, Gretchen.
Caileigh and Gretchen snuggled and began to play. Dad couldn't get over how much bigger she was then Caileigh. Gen left Gretchen with Dad and went to get the two boys. When she came back, Dad was amazed again at the size of the boys--Tiberius and Tank.
Caileigh was so happy to see her siblings and her first Mom, Gen.
It was a great reunion. Later in the afternoon, the four pups and I went into the big fenced in field and we all played.
Guess what? Gretchen loves water. She jumped in the pond and swam around. Even Tank ventured in. Myself, Caileigh and Ty would have nothing to do with the water.
We had a great time. It's so much fun seeing other pointers, and especially family members.
