Black Pearls of Wisdom...

all that love can do, will be done...

Dixie's staples came out 1-2-3... so much easier to remove than stitches! We took Burt with for moral support (and because he wigs out whenever Dixie goes without him). He was whining & carrying on so very much at Dr. Jackie's office Dixie was worried about HIM!

The plan is to continue the Prednisolone drops in Dixie's remaining eye. Her pressure today was 14, and the eye itself wasn't inflamed. Dixie still has particulate matter inside the eye (lymphoma cells) causing cloudiness and reduced vision.

Starting today we began the Prednisone series. 1-20 mg tab twice daily for 7 days, then 1 tab once a day for 7 days, then 1 tab every other day until the supply of 30 tabs is gone. Additionally we started a Pepcid regimen to try and alleviate any side effects of the Pred.

The Prednisone will increase her appetite, decrease her calcium level, and increase her thirst. Possible side effects other than digestive upset include Hot Flashes!!! (I feel ya, baby girl, I feel ya) BOL

On the way home we stopped for chicken. Lar had the idea of getting some gizzards. Bought a 1/4 lb bag and Dixie ATE THEM ALL (minus the breading, of course)!!! And we had really good luck again this morning with the Beneful prepared meal--ate over half of it.

People are already weighing in left and right on how we should proceed with Dixie. Please be respectful of our decisions. They are very hard to make, and are made with love.

All that love can do, will be done.

So glad you took Burt along with his beloved Dixie.
Happy to hear the staples came out easily.
Hoping the Predisone does its job and helps our precious girl feel better, eat better, decrease the calcium & increase her thirst...should be a real good relief for her.

What a splendid idea Lar had getting the gizzards and SO happy Dixie at them all and also liked the Beneful this morning. This is all so good!

Don't listen to what anyone else says as to how you should proceed!! Dixie is YOUR baby, no one else knows her the way you do and, therefore, is excused of making any comments at all. You will do all that love can do...that's all any of us can do. WE as pawrents are the only ones who have the right to any opinions!!

Much love to you all!

Love and HUGSSSSSS for brave Dixie Beep !

It for no-one but yourselves to suggest what and how to proceed... unless you specifically ask.

You have walked this road before.... and more loving and more attuned souls there isnt.

Do what you need.. what Dixie needs to do.. That is what matters and that alone.

Meantime... the gizzards hit the spot !!!!

So pleased to hear the staples came out well and Burt was with. We know how much you love Dixie and will always do what's right for her and we all know what so called free advise is worth..that's why it's free so just ignore it and listen to those you ask for advice.

I was on Predisone at one time and it really helped me but it does make some furs pee LOTS..However it never affected me that way but was overly hungry and drank lots.

Love and Hugs,
Angel Lexi
