Black Pearls of Wisdom...

A Phone Call We Could Have Done WIthout

Well, Dixie isn't getting her teeth cleaned and her cyst biopsied tomorrow after all. Before we left the vet last week, I had her draw Dixie's blood for testing too. Got the call today.

Dixie's one liver enzyme is elevated. Don't know the reason why. I'm so very careful about everything they eat, after WINston was poisoned by MenuFoods/Nutro back in 2007. They get NOTHING made from China. I research where the ingredients that make up their food and treats some from, because even though a product is made in the USA, ingredients could come from China (the poisoned Nutro was made in Canada with ingredients from China).

Our minds are spinning. The vet said she's fairly confident in the Cushing's diagnosis for Burt, but the tests tomorrow will point us in the right direction for treatment or for an ultrasound. Dixie? Who knows. I want to puke.

Good case scenario with Cushing's is about lifespan of two years after diagnosis if it's caused by tumors. I am numb. This can't be happening again. I can't lose them both.

Weeeeeellllllllll, seeing as how both Dixie and Burt's bloodwork came back with liver enzyme problems, I'll update on D&B's joint page.

Hang in there.

Liver enz's are about the most mobile thing there is. Literally up today... totally normal morro. Stress...heat/cold/colour of your t-shirt !! They really DO change with the wind.

Scooter in the thread was having yoyo enz'z and it lead to nothing.

It really does happen for NO reason as well as good reason. Even "just a bit off colour" is enough.

SO... just wait and see... this could be lots of nothing.

Deal with what you know.. not the 3am nightmares.

We love you.... BREATHE... you know where to find me....

Dearest ones, we just were told to look at your diary and were thinking that you were at the vet today, for Dixie. Oh, my this is terrible and we are very upset and worried for Burt and Dixie. Thankfully you asked for the bloodwork to be done, and your second sight. Something taken care of early is a good thing. You know that we are worriers, and we will be hoping for news of both soon - please post where we can see what is going on - I don't want you to think you are not surrounded by love by many. Please give Dixie and Burt hugs and loving kisses from all of us and we are holding them closely in our hearts.
