From puppy mill to princess

Mommy talked to my rescuer!

What a crazy day it's been! My mommy is so sad and she keep hugging me and giving me treats. Mom knew that I was rescued from a puppy mill, but she never thought she would talk to my rescuer or that my story was so terribly sad. Any way to start at the beginging;
Today mom sent some nice picfurs of me to my foster momma Marylou.
We just love her and we sent a nice email about me and the pics. So then mommy started looking at Marylou's rescue group's site "rawhide rescue". Rawhide rescue are some great foster pawrents who take care of pups who need help. Now they don't go get pups out of mills but they work with groups who do. On the site mom saw a link to "no more tears' rescue so she clicked and went to explore and guess what! She saw a picture of me on their site. She was so excited and sent them an email. She told them all about my life, how much I love to run and play,my favorite foods, my hatred of squirrels, how sweet I am, how cute, etc. Then she sent some nice pictures of me and my brother Devon. Mom didn't expect to hear back but she recieved this email the next day.

Hi Cheryl, (that's my mommy's name)

Thank you for loving Daisy so. She was a special rescue to me because I remember precisely what had happened. I had visited the farm to pick up some older dogs that the miller was giving me. The miller then asked me if I wanted to buy a young dog from him who wouldn't breed any longer. I told him I don't buy dogs no matter how young they are. He says well we have this bischon that lives in here and he pointed to a wooden box outside. I bent down to look inside the box and there was this scared to death little white poofy thing. He grabbed her out from the back and handed her to me. She clung on to my arm for dear life and was trembling so much. Her little heart was beating so fast, I can feel it. I looked in her eyes and she looked into mine. It was like she was begging me to save her from being put back into that horrific dark box. I told the man I will give you $50 for this dog. He agreed and we took her back with us. I am so happy I saved her even if
I had to give the man 50$. Look how happy she is now and she would of died in that box all alone. Rawhide Rescue discovered she had things wrong with her such as a huge bladder stone, in which untreated would of remained very painful for her. They would of never treated her by a vet. So thank you again so much for letting me know how well she is doing.

Laura

Oh my DOG! Mommy just couldn't belive it! After she read this email she cried and cried. She can't understand how anyone could be so cruel. Why would someone would put a dog in a dark box and leave her there? Now she is so so sad for me, and for other pups still stuck in the mills.
But she is also amazed at how brave I am and how spunky!
Imagine how brave of me to refuse to breed and to survive in a box all alone. She is so grateful to Laura for saving me! To tell you the truth I am grateful too! Thanks to Laura those sad days are over and will never come back. All over the US good people are refusing to allow dogs to be abused, saving mill and shelter dogs and refusing to breed or buy. Me and mommy think my story shows the best and the worst of people. Imagine the horror and the evil that happened when greed took this millers soul. But contrast that with the kindness and the generosity of Laura, who is still out there fighting to set all the mill dogs free.
Now pups will you do me a favor? Please say a prayer for Laura and all the other rescuers. Let them be safe as they do their angels work. Bless them all every day, all imprisoned mill dogs and all the rescuers and the foster parents. Bless you too!
Love Daisy

A great day!

Guess what every pup! I got a cute new fur cut!

I was very good and only trembled and shaked like a leaf in the begining.
Mom is so proud of me! She is used to me being terrified at the groomer. She got a little teary thinking of the scared little skinny mousie I once was. She told me I have comed so far and that she knows I am trying very hard to be a good girl.
Anyway, I went to a new groomer who was very nice and extra gentle wif me. He had me come in early and be the first 'pointment -so more TLC for moi! He even told mom that I was very obedient and "Docile"
My friend, Ellie Mae sent me her picture. Soo I brunged it wif me to show the groomer my dream do. He smiled and told mommy that it will take a long time for me to look like her! But he is working on a fluffy round "bichon head" for me. She is gonna take some new pictures of me and post them soon, so every one can see my do. I am very very clean and fluffy and super cute. I will post the pic tomorrow-unless mom gets lazy!

I was tagged by my handsome friend Snoopy!
( Ok sooo I got a little crush on him)
I never beened tagged before!
I have to list 7 things about my self and then tag 7 more pups!
Oh boy! hope I can do it!
Here goes:

1 I love to chase critters. My favorite critters to chase are squirrels but I'll chase katz, deer, bugs, racoons, other dogs. You get the idea. Any kinda critter can count on me chasing it.

2 I hate critters so much that when I go outside I spend most of my time looking up the trees-sometimes I'm so busy looking for critters that I forget to potty.

3 Sometimes I potty in the house. Yep, I'm not proud of it, but I have this pad thing and mom puts it down on the floor just for me to pee on.
But the funny thing is, mom gets happy and gives me a cookie when I potty outside, but when I do it on the pad? She wrinkles up her nose & doesn't say nothing or give me a cookie. But the pad is just for me to potty on! Weird right?

4 I love my mom's leg. When we go to bed I snuggle right up to her leg and sleep on it. When we sit on the couch I rest my head on it. If she moves her leg, I get mad and jump right up. I act offended till her leg stays still. Then I sigh and go right back to laying on her leg.

5 I really really love food. I love the food I get in my bowl. I love my cookies and chicken treats. I love a tiny taste of what mom is having. I even love food I find on the ground. Mom takes all kinds of rotten nasty stuff outta my mouth. But if my brother finishes eating first- I back away from my food and let him have it. He doesn't even growl or anything. He just comes over and I let him eat my food! But I eat fast- so that almost never happens.

6 Once I tried to eat an old flat squirrel at the park. Mom took it away but I saved one of it's leg bones and ran away with it. I kept chewing on it and running away. Mom got really mad and the next day she took me to the vet for a lepto shot. Ouch!

7 I love to go for walks and to the beach and to the park, but I wish we had a yard of our own to play in. I would do a good job of guarding it from critters too.

Ok I'm finished. Hmm... my list is kinda gross huh?I am gonna tag...
Georgie Girl, Q-tip, Faith, Duke, Loulou, Buddy and Duncan!
Tag! You pups are it!

Our favorite time of year?

Lately mom and my brother Devon are barking up a storm about how this is their favorite time of year. They keep on talking about the leaves and the sky and the cool weather. blah blah blah! Don't they know that this is a terrible time? Soon the days will get shorter and shorter. Dark will come early every day. Then the cold cold wind will blow. Before you know it snow will start to fall!

I hated the winter when I lived in the puppy mill. My cage was so so cold. The snow and the cold rain would fall through the wires and on to me. It seemed like it was always the dark and night. Sometimes my water would freeze. I used to pass the time by watching the squirrells but when the cold came they were hiding. I hated being alone in the cold but it was even worse when my puppies were with me. I would worry about them, and curl myself around them to try to keep them warm. It was no fun worrying about my pups in the cold.

Well I guess this year I will do my best to keep my family warm.
Hey Devon! Stop! This is my diary not yours!
You have something important to tell me?

OH!

Devon says that now we live in a house. And that the house never gets cold?! Well yes now that you mentioned it I haven't felt cold. And yeah, Mom does dress me in those sweaters. Oh those will keep me warm? Even outside?! And we get warm food when its cold?! And we will get to cuddle up on the furniture! OH WOW!
This is great!
Hmm...
the smell in the air, the leaves, the sky!
This IS a great time of year!

My first diary entry ever!

Hi Pups!
I'm Daisy, a sweet and charming little Bichon Frise.
(Also I'm very humble! ;0 )
Welcome to my brand new diary. Let me introduce myself and my family to you.
I'm a young dog, I dont know how old I am exactly, so my mom put the day I was freed from the puppy mill as my barkday.
See I was born in the puppy mill and I thought I would allways have to live there. But I am one of the lucky lucky ones, cause, good people saved me and now I live with my mom Cheryl and my adoptive big poodle brother Devon. I am very fun and playful. Oh, and I am very pretty and sweet. Oh, and I am brave sometimes too.

Devon is a great brother and he plays with me and gives me lots of love all the time. He is also bigger then me and when we go on walks he protects me and stands in front of me if I get scared. See sometimes I'm not so brave!
Cheryl is my wonderful mom's name, she cooks for us and gives me food and plays with me and gives me lots of toys and hugs and kisses and snuggles me all the time.

So...This is why we started my diary. We were all snuggling on the couch at home the other day. We were watching a show called Oprah all about special doggies. Normally I don't love TV that much but this was a great show. The doggies did lots of cool stuff and all sorts of special tricks. Then, a man came on who talked about dogs who live in the puppy mills. That got me and my mom thinking. We decided that we wanted to try to help all the dogs who are still in the mills. Mom and I thought for a while and then I decided that I should tell my story to all of the other pups and pawrents on dogster. So I talked mom into typing for me. Now I have my very own diary.
Next time I will tell you more about my life.
Love & little licks
Daisy
