How I Came to be, Buddy

Well, my life started out someplace in the mid-west, according to my paperwork. I lived with some people out there before I was shipped to a pet store on the East Coast. There, some other people bought me because they wanted a dog and thought I looked cute, or so I thought. Well, as I started to get a little older and bigger (heck, I was only a pup), they thought I was too big, too much energy etc.... so they took to keeping me in a crate all the time. I never had much fun after that. Then they said something about me being too rough around their little child. I only wanted to play. Well, I kept growing and growing. They never got me a bigger crate and I started to spend even MORE time in there. Then the humans started to get mad at me because I wouldn't use my crate as a bathroom. What are they crazy? Did they sleep/live in their bathroom? Because I had no room in my crate to even move, the fur under my arms wore off because they just kept rubbing the sides of the crate. This was not a good life. I was not a happy puppy. Then, finally, someone saved me from there. They tried to give me (I'm a purebred puppy with papers and everything!) away, but the nice man that wanted me, well, his wife said something like he'd be living in a doghouse! I didn't really understand, but he took me for a ride over to his friend's house. They fell in love with me. AND they had another puppy I could play with. Boy, was it nice to run around a backyard, play with another puppy and be loved. No crates at this house. It was cool! They named me Buddy - because I was always attached to them. I loved getting pets, scratches behind the ears. These nice people kept me for a week. They had already decided they were getting a yellow lab and they didn't know what to do. So they called my temporary mom's brother. They had an older dog and they thought about taking me in. So my temporary family brought me to them so I could meet my possible new mom and dad, older sister (her name was Misty, lab mix) and their kids. The were bigger than the last kid I had seen. Anway, I was shy at first. We spent about 2 hours there and the little girl, she couldn't stop kissing me, holding me, telling me that I was going to be her baby. I was such a good boy (even though I snuck off upstairs and pooped on their carpet AND they didn't even get mad at me!). They told my temporary mom and dad that they wanted to keep me. I was SOOO happy! I couldn't stop wagging my tail. My temporary mom cried and cried - I knew they were happy tears, because I now had a nice, new, safe home, but she was sad too. I heard her tell my temporary dad how much she had fallen in love with in a week's time. He kept telling her that it would be OK, because I was "still in the family" and that she'd get to see me all the time. I think I was in doggie heaven. I had a nice new family with a lot of room to run and play AND I would get to see my temporary mom and dad all the time! What a lucky guy I was! So, here we are, over a year later. I love my family and I really do get to see the people who were my temporary parents. When my family goes on vacation, I get to go live with my Auntie and Uncle for 2 weeks. Even though I miss my family, I love spending time with them because I'm loved just as much there as I am at home and I have 2 cousins (Hunter and Brandie) and sometimes 3, when Boozer comes down for a visit.

I guess I'm living up to my name, I really am, everyone's Buddy!
