Arrival Story:
We adopted Jack when we already had two Lurcher girls and I was three months pregnant - not the best time, but who cares. He had been passed from Rescue to Rescue after having been liberated by a Rescue organisation from the field where he had been found chained on open ground with no water, food or shelter .. and with the tethering chain having eaten into his neck. The chain had to be surgically removed and upon recovery, he was moved out of the area for his own safety. We took him in after reading about him in the Celia Cross Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue newsletter.

Bio:
He can be found on the Greyhound Data database under his registered name of Causeway Boy and was sadly put to sleep on the 16th May 2007 when his poor old heart just couldn't take any more.

Forums Motto:

Well yes, it was on a plate ... but!

Oh dear, I'm in trouble.

It was the last piece of birthday cake .. on a plate .. on the floor of the sitting room.

How was I supposed to know that it belonged to the boy and the boy only? I mean he wasn't even there! (Apparently he'd gone to the kitchen to get a drink). I woke up, smelled chocolate .. and did what any self-respecting dog would do - ate it.

Much weeping and wailing ensued - although not from me.

However, I learned an interesting lesson - which is that chocolate ice cream can soothe the pain of a lost chocolate cake. Must remember that.

*burp* Pardon me.

Birthday party? What birthday party?

Yesterday was the boy's birthday party - except we didn't get to see much of it because one of the little girl guests screamed blue murder when she saw me - I don't know why, I'm angelic when I'm smiling - and had to be restrained from running away. Put her on a lead or crate her, that's my suggestion. ;-)

So, anyway, we had to be shut in the big bedroom - which was actually okay by me, 'cos I got to sleep on the big double pillow-top bed for three hours - which is bliss for a bony dog and feels like floating on a big poofty cloud! Jonty got all stressed because he couldn't be with Mum and could hear lots of screams and laughing and people running up and down the stairs. He kept banging on the door with his paws, but nobody came. I told him to just lay down and chill out, but well - he's only young and thinks he can change the world. He'll learn.

We ran around like mad things when we were let out later on - and there was lots of popcorn to hoover up from the sitting room carpet - so all was not lost.

The boy has gone back to school today, so all is once again peace and tranquillity at home. Now, if I could just work out how to keep those horrible balloon thingies from getting anywhere near me or my bed, without having to touch them, I'd be a happy greyhound.

Yes, today the people have spent all day doing housework. You see, its the boy's birthday tomorrow - apparently he's six years old. Humph. I can remember being six years old .. I didn't get let off the lead much in those days - but I'm better now, I've seen the sense in coming back to my people when they call me. *sigh* Still, I did have fun, racing around them in big circles while they stood there getting dizzy watching me go around and around. *chuckle*

Its been a tiring day, watching all that activity. I did my bit, though - I made sure the double bed didn't run away .. then the sofa .. and both armchairs .. its a bit like jobshare, really.

We had some chilli in our tea, tonight ... woooo! It'll be windy in the old homestead tonight! *grin* Me and Jonty, we love chilli .. trouble is, it doesn't really love us. *chuckle* Ah well .. its a difficult job, but somebody's got to do it. ~wag~

Better go .. got balloons to supervise.
