Leave a bone for Cooper - Adopted!

Nicknames:
Coop, Coopy-Doop, CooperDooper, Cooper the Trooper

Quick Bio:
-pound dog-dog rescue

Likes:
Eating, pooping, licking, being brushed/massaged with the "Zoom Groom" brush, and laying right next to me

Favorite Toy:
Anything another dog has

Favorite Food:
Everything

Best Tricks:
Cleaning his butt (he's a wiener dog so it takes some real pretzel work to get his mouth around to that end of his body) -- I know, it's gross, but it's a fact of a dog's life, right?

Arrival Story:
This dog was rescued from a city shelter yesterday (10/29/04) where he was going to be euthanized. I'm his foster home for at least the next two weeks until he's ready to place for adoption. (But he'll stay with me until he's adopted, however long it takes.)

Bio:
10/30/04: Cooper has "kennel cough" so I think he's pretty miserable. He also has several cuts and scabs on his body and some signs of neglect. He's a beautiful chocolate color and has such a sad look on his face. I hope he'll be feeling better soon. 10/31/04: Cooper seems to be sleeping peacefully now after being up all night pacing and coughing up mucus. Poor guy. 11/9/04: Cooper's cough is gone, the worst of it only lasted 3-4 days. He's going in tomorrow to be neutered and have his teeth cleaned. He likes to follow me around the house (so now I have 3 dogs following me everywhere) and he loves to be petted and have his belly rubbed. He also likes to playfully "bite" and lick me. He's a cute boy and a VERY good walker on the leash. 11/14/04: Cooper's back home after his neuter and dental at the vet. (They had to pull 8 rotten teeth!!) He's settling in more at my house, which is good, but it also makes me feel bad since it's not his permanent home. I'm still trying to work on the barking issue with both him and Tigger. They bark at EVERYTHING, every little noise they hear. It's terrible. (I guess I'm accustomed to Josie's silent bark.) 12/2/04: I had to take Cooper to the vet today because I think he's been having some back pain. The doctor prescribed some steroid medicine and said "no stairs for the next 2-4 weeks," so I've been carrying 18-pound Cooper up and down my indoor stairs and up and down the outside stairs whenever it's time to eat or go outside. Fun! 12/5/04: Cooper got adopted today by a GREAT new mom! I don't think she was even looking for another dog but when she saw Cooper and he looked like a cross between her chocolate lab and her dachshund (who both died in the last year, the dachshund died a year ago to the day she first saw Cooper) she felt she had to take him home. She brought her Lhasa Apso "Mr. P", who was wearing his handsome bomber jacket, in to meet Cooper and then she bought Cooper a stylish Sherlock Holmes-style jacket before she'd even finished the paperwork to adopt him (see bottom two photos). I'm so happy for little Coop!
