Making a cave of our bed blankets to sleep in.
Raised voices! The word No!
Right now, it's a noise making Pirate!
Moist food with gravy and fish oil on it.
Wherever he decides to go in the yard...He stays in it on his own.
Since he is getting old now, he enjoys playing ball and squeaking toys in the house
We got Dakota from a breeder in Ohio. After arriving at the airport in Ohio, we didn't find the breeder or our Manchie waiting for us as planned. As we paced back and forth outside the drop/off area , we heard a small dog bark across the street in the arrival area zone. We figured we would go across and see what dog was doing all that barking. To our amazement it was "Dakota". The breeder got the arrival/departure areas mixed up. Cody's big mouth saved the day. After exchanging the AKC papers etc., we flew back to NJ with Cody sleeping peacefully on my lap.
Dakota is not a real popular breed. Manchester Terrier breeders are very particular who they sell too, keeping the numbers low so they don't become over populated. It took us quite a while to convince a reputable breeder to allow us to have one of their pups. We allowed the breeder to pick our puppy based on the criteria that would allow him to get along with our 2 adult Dobes. He had to be an alpha dog with high energy to keep up with them. Immediately, our Alpha Female named "Toby", took over as his very strick guardian. He learned very quickly, not to disturb "her highness". Our Male Dobe, Murphy who was the biggest of the two Dobes, was actually afraid of this little mouse. He remained his subordinate throughout his 12 years on earth. Things at first things were a bit rough because Cody was such a little stinker and was always bothering them. After many growls from our female Toby, they eventually all got along together. After we lost the 2 Dobes to old age, we got Cody a "new" Big Brother named Blade. Blade was a Superior Sized Dobe, towering over Cody even though he was a puppy. Cody became his boss too. Unfortunately we lost Blade to Wobbler's Disease when he was 3 years old. Cody was left alone again. After loosing Blade to such a horrible disease, we decided to try the Adoption route. That's how he now has his Brother Raine. Cody has now taken over as Raine's boss too! He is one tough little "Big" man at the ripe old age of 11.
