Likes:
Isabella loves to be cuddled. She pushes up so close to you in bed she nearly pushes you out! She loves the ocean, going for rides in the jeep, and she loves company. She loves other animals and gets along with everyone.

Pet-Peeves:
When we don't go to bed on time. She also doesn't like to go to the bathroom outside in the rain!! She will wait until it stops.(I even tried holding an umbrella over her!)

Favorite Toy:
Izzy's favorite toy is her pink pelican. She also loves her retrieving toy which we bring to the beach.

Favorite Food:
I think she would eat anything---BUT I give her Wellness natural dog food with Solid Gold Seameal.

Favorite Walk:
Izzy's favorite walk is at the beach. She loves the ocean with a passion!!

Best Tricks:
Playing "hide and go seek" with me (her mom), and Buddy. She also can "give me five", which she thinks is funny.

Arrival Story:
I was looking on line for another rescue dog for a sibling for Buddy, and another companion for us. We found "Labs for Rescue", and worked with them to find the perfect "match" for our family. When we first saw Isabella, she could only walk on 3 legs and was very timid. I found out she had a bad case of Lyme disease as well as a very messed up knee and leg from when Labs for Rescue found her on the side of the road--left for dead. We told them we wanted her even though she probably wouldn't ever be able to run or walk on all her legs. Luckily I was going through physical therapy with a wonderful therapist who coached me on how to care for her leg, as well as my neck! Now she is like a completely different dog. Even our Veterinarian cannot believe the difference in her. Within a few months she was smiling, running on all four legs and holding her head up high with confidence. She loves being here with us and Buddy, and is truly the best thing we could have done for all of us. Izzy is a wonderful lab with a sweet disposition. I love her more than words can say!

Bio:
On December 26th 2007, Buddy found a very small red dot on Isabella's groin. His constant licking of it drew my attention to it. The next day I brought her in to the vet to have it checked. Even though everyone thought it was "nothing", I wanted the vet to do a "slide" of it--I had a bad feeling about it... Turns out it was mast cell cancer---BUT was caught unbelievably early--thanks to our Buddy!! Our vet did the aggressive surgery the next day and the results showed that it was a level 1. Thankfully all the cancer was cut out, with good margins on all sides. My wonderful family, including my married daughter, came to take turns sleeping on the floor with her until she was able to climb the stairs to be in the finished part of our house. After Christmas and New Years, I took on the job of staying on the mattress with her down stairs until she was well enough to climb stairs. Now she is completely all better. Going through this with her was something I will never forget. It just shows you how much one can truly love a dog!!
