Arrival Story:
Elvis will be a year old in July. He was found by animal control near the Sioux Falls airport. Second Chance rescue had him up for adoption. We saw his picture on the internet and we fell in love with him. He is a purebred and a excellent dog. We are thankful that we have a fenced in back yard so he can run. You have to watch he will jump the fence.

My wife and I got Elvis from Second Chance Animal Resuce in Sioux Falls, SD. in March of 2008. The vet figured he was only 7 months old. Animal Control found him wandering at the Sioux Falls Airport. He had no collar or tags. The Vet said he is a pure bred Treeing Walker Coonhound. My wife and I have always had Basset Hounds for the last 35 years. My wife found him on the internet and thought he was so cute. Little did we know what we were getting ourselfs into. Before we got him we should have checked the internet about his behavior. We never had Basset Hounds that were destructive. First off we left him in our Explorer with leather seats for about 10 minutes. Elvis decided the back seat was a chew cushion, to the tune of $125 to repair. We left him at home with Freckles and we went shopping, came home all the remotes for the tv and dvd player were chewed up, not to mention he shredded all the magazines and newspapers. I looked on the internet to find out the breed bores easily and they need a lot of excercise. We have a fenced in backyard, but with all the squirrels and rabbits, he jumps the fence. He needs a lot of excercise. I am so glad that we have a dog park 2 blocks away where he and Freckles can socialize and run. Elvis is the most affectionite dog I have ever had. He wants to be a part of everything where Freckles just has one speed slow. He is very intelligent, he also thinks he is a lap dog. At 65 lbs he can be a little heavy. We have never had a better dog. He is exceptional.
