My big yard is broken!

Mom went down to the big yard to check on her fish and Jenny's big yellow frog tonight. She found two great big trees had fallen on our fence down there. Apparently all the rain has softened the ground so much (and made the trees heavier) and they just fell over in the wind during one of the storms and left their roots sticking right up in the air. Of course they squashed the fence, and one of them squashed our agility tunnel and Mom's canoe. Good thing it was the canoe and not our kayaks! We may need them soon just to get around out there. Mom said it was pretty much a dead canoe anyway, but now it really is a dead canoe! I guess the agility tunnel will unsquash okay when Mom can cut the tree off it. She has an electric chain saw, so we have to wait until the rain stops and it dries up a bit before we can do that. I say we cuz we will all help her. We can carry the logs after she cuts them up!!! We are such good dogs!!!
Mom did hear some good news today.... one of her friends (our poodle friends' Mom), usually runs out of water every Summer. She told Mom today that her well is full and is running over for the first Summer in over 20 years!!! Too bad we can't collect up all the extra water and send it to people who need water this Summer. Maybe we will fill some jugs to take with us when we go to Virginia or where ever in our kayaks.

Another Rainy Sunday.

Double boo today... Mom was super cleaning and it was raining, so guess who was stuck in his crate almost all day long? Yup. The nerve. Well, maybe I might have deserved it a tiny little bit. Ya see, Mom let me out to help her this morning while everyone else was outside. I can't go outside with Timmy and Thomas cuz I try to start something with them... Mom doesn't like that so when they're out, I am in and vice versa. Anyway, I was helping her clean. We were in the guest room... she went out to put some more stuff in the washer and I hopped up on the bed she just made and unmade it! Was fun, too! Then, I took some curtains down for her.... turns out, she had already washed and ironed them and put them across the bed while she finished washing the windows...how was I supposed to know??? So, I got banished to my crate.
Well, tonight me and Jenny got our usual evening out with Mom in the 'puter room. Beanie, Chaz and Ali had to stay in their pen cuz they were muddy. Our bed (MY bed that I won at the dog show), was freshly washed and Jenny perched herself right in the middle and wouldn't move over for me. Sooo, I started barking and racing thru the house as fast as I could go... I ran into the bedroom, banked off the bed and tore by her and into the kitchen, raced around the table, back by her and started over in the bedroom again. After about the tenth time thru, Mom got up and moved Jenny over so I could share the bed. Just when I was thinking Jenny would never move off the bed! Soo, although I was expecting Jenny to start chasing me and I would hop on the bed, the end result was the same... I got to share MY bed!

Weird weather continues

Well, today we got some more rain, lots and lots more rain, but tonight the sun was shining brightly and it got very cool, in fact, it is almost cold! Mom was gonna mow the lawn, but there is so much water that the grass is lying flat down in it. So, instead of that, we had to play! Beanster said the sun would keep the mosquitoes away, but, trust me and my bare butt, it didn't!!! They were very, very bad. Mom almost never gets mosquito bites and she must have gotten about 20 of them! I got a bunch of them, too. Poor Mom was in the garden taking some pictures of the flowers and the bumble bees were after her, too. One sat on her arm for a while, finally she shook that one off. One big one went down her shirt! She was really scared, and even took her shirt off and shook the bee out. It didn't sting her, tho! Must be the one that stung Jenny's big yellow frog and his stinger was tired????
Anyway, when we came back inside and played for a while it was pretty cool in our house. Mom even went and got some socks for her feet. When we hopped in bed, I did my Winter burrowing under all the blankets. Poor Ali didn't know that was my ritual, and she was sleeping on the blanket right above where I was burrowing. I think she thought the whole bed was exploding!!! Hee hee hee, it was just me finding a warm, comfy spot under the covers.

I discuss Weather again

Wow, what a very, very strange day it was here. Got up, it was raining, so of course, not wanting to get wet, I pooped on the porch. Came back inside, and the sun was out. Mom went to work, and when she came home at noon to let us out there was ICE falling out of the sky. It was raining soo hard that the kayaks really were moving! So, of course I didn't step off the porch again, this time I had to pee in the dog bed that was out there. Oops, sorry Mom. All afternoon it was raining and thundering and sunny and raining and thundering and sunny. It was so bad that tonight I had to poop on the rug in the kitchen. Oops double sorry, Mom.
Right now is the strangest of all... the sun is shining brightly on one side of our house but it is pouring rain on the other side of our house. Of course the raining side is the side where our dog pen is! Now, that is pretty darn strange!!!!

Kayaking at home

I know, I know I promised not to complain about the weather anymore. Well, this is not really a complaint, I guess. Today me and Beanie and Jenny were discussing kayaking again and we decided that if it keeps raining, we can all go kayaking by ourselves in the big yard. It is almost completely underwater now... there is a little stream that is usually on the other side of our fence and tonight Mom and I went down and looked and it's running on OUR side of the fence.
Me and Jenny decided that if we just moved the kayaks a little bit the next downpour would float them right across the parking lot and down the bank into our big yard. Then we would just have to hop in and ride along with the current. I'll bet Jenny's big yellow frog would hop in for a ride, too.
Sooo, if any of you who live south of us see three dogs and a frog in three kayaks floating along give us a shout! If you want, you can go with us. I expect we will probably end up down in Virginia or somewhere like that??? My sense of direction isn't too good. Catch ya later!

Monday, Monday....

Some Mondays are bad... everyone is tired and the weekday drag is starting over again. Other Mondays are nice... tonight was one of those. During the afternoon the air got all fresh and clean, so Mom took us down to the big yard right after supper. I guess she was afraid it was gonna get too dark too early so she took us all together. Well of course we all ran and ran... Mom thinks we are running for fun, but I am running to check out the fence... sometimes branches or stuff falls on it and knocks it over, and once the neighbor kids even cut it open with a knife. Our big yard fence is a green plastic snow fence cuz we don't go out there by ourselves, so Mom says it's only a deterrent what ever that is! I think it is something that smells good, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I check to see if there are any places that I can get out, not that I would, you understand. I just need to know if there are any bad spots, so I can tell Mom and she can fix them. There, got myself out of that one, didn't I???
Anyway, I was playing with Gracie... she doesn't usually go down with us, she has her own group with Thomas and Tinman. She is such a baby... when I run real fast and grab her ears and throw her to the ground she screams for Mom... what a Momma's baby she is. She is plenty big enough to turn around and nip at me... Beanie is tiny but he nips my nose if I get too rough with him. Anyway, Mom and Jenny were watching Jenny's frog... he got stung by a bee according to them, I think that is pretty unlikely, myself. I think that is a tall tale Jenny made up to cover up the fact that she didn't get to kiss, er catch him again tonight. But, Mom did say she saw it happen, so, maybe it did??? Around here we don't usually doubt Mom, well, Clyde does, but he's different. Anyway, there are plenty of bees down there. Gracie was jumping up and catching moths... I warned her to be very careful that she got a moth and not a big ole bumblebee!!!
Boy, I am rambling all over the place tonight... see what I said about Mondays???? I'm done now and going to bed!

My new doo.

Well, Mom finally took some photos of my new do0 and added them to my page. Of course, she did the new doo yesterday and took the photos today after I had slept all night and mussed up the new doo. Ah well, I am still quite a handsome lad, if I do say so myself. I guess I have to say so myself, cuz no one else says so!!!! Anyway, Mom was pretty shocked at how much gray hair I have when she trimmed off the cords. My breeder says maybe I am blue, not black, but Mom thinks it's only a graying factor at work. If I was blue, I wouldn't have a black face! At any rate, I do like the new doo better than the dreadlocks, and even I have to admit, I smell better!!!!!
Well, I gotta go eat dinner. I am not fat, nor am I dieting!!!!

Cutting the cord(s)

Well, I knew it couldn't last... Mom brought me to work today and she is brushing out my dreadlocks. Darn, I was getting to like them! She was muttering about me leaving sand in the bed and always having wet feet. Mom is not the neatest person in the world... you should see our house!!! But us dogs are always clean and good smelling. Mom has a very sensitive sense of smell, and says she wouldn't have a dog if it smells like a dog. Duh.... I personally don't think I smelled bad, but those cords really did collect lots of sand and dirt. I guess that is what makes them cord????
Anyway, she has decided to keep me in the continental trim, but to modify it so it will be easier for both her and me. She gave me a scissored topknot. (NO ponytails for me, thank goodness!) And, she is keeping the rest of it fairly short except for the mane area. I don't know about all this... I have to wonder if it will make me look more like a sissy with a tutu on????? Guess I will have to wait and see what the finished product looks like. If it's not too bad, maybe I will have her take a picture and put it on my page??? Catch ya later.

Kayaking, and a good time was had by all!

Well, me and the Beanster got to go kayaking again today. It was nice and warm and sunny, so we were happy. I went with Skye again, and this time she was braver, so we went ahead by ourselves. We paddled and paddled and paddled and finally stopped for lunch. Mom made me do a down stay so I wouldn't bother Emma... Jenny was right, I did jump on her, but only gently! She gave me part of her lunch, but Meanie Beanie stole mine and gobbled it all up! Next we went swimming. To be perfectly honest, I would just as soon stay on the shore with Mom and take the photos!!! Do you have any idea how hard it is to swim when those stupid lily pad stems, about 3 or 4 feet long, wrap all around your long hair??? Ain't easy, I can tell you that! I did have a bit of a scare when I saw the kayak and thought it was upside down and Mom was stuck under it. I swam over there really fast, and then discovered it was really right side up and Mom was up on the bank!!!! After lunch we went around the back. Me and Skye were way far ahead, so we went right by all the geese without hardly seeing them. Mom and Beanie and her friend and Emma stopped there and took pictures of them. That was okay, cuz Skye and I were looking at some turtles. There was a really big one, with no paint on it. Mom told us to stay away from that one!!! We did see some little painted ones. Then me and Skye went around another island and spotted some ducks. They were swimming in front of us, and when we turned around to go back, they were following us!
When we got back to the beginning, there were a lot of dogs there, so I visited with them while Mom and Skye put the kayaks on the car. I was watching the other dogs very carefully so I could protect Emma if they scared her. She wasn't scared!!!!

Recent NH Storms

Since I am the more serious one, Mom asked me to write about our recent weather up here in NH. Fortunately, we are on the West side of NH, and while we got tons and tons of rain, the more serious thunderstorms and possible tornados missed us to the East. We did lose our power, but only momentarily.
We understand thru local news and conversations with friends from the East, the devastation was severe, including many serious injuries and at least one lost life. While all us pups have all been bitching about the abundance of rain and storms during the past weeks, we are extremely thankful that no major damage was done in our area. We would like to extend our sympathy to those who have suffered the loss of their homes and more during the past 24 hours. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. We will no longer complain about minor cloudy days and rain interrupting our play time.
