Another pleasant Sunday afternoon...

Not a bad day, not bad at all! I got to go out and play with Jenny and Beanie and Ali, then I came in to dry off and warm up. While I was drying off, I discovered a bone that still had it's center in it! I claimed it as mine and spent about an hour gnawing on that. While I was doing that Mom took the little ones out. I don't get to go with them cuz I can't help myself, I have to assert my authority over them. Usually they don't get upset but Mom sure does!!!
Anyway, when they came back inside it was really, really snowing hard so Mom decided to get some more shots of me alone. She got all dressed again and out we went. Of course, there was now too much snow so almost all the photos got big smudges on them when a particularly big snowflake would get too close to the lens. Ah well, Mom said she liked them so I guess I do too.
When I got back inside this time it was time for Mom to eat her chicken. Of course I was the only one out cuz the little ones went back into their crates to dry off, so I got all the leftovers and hard pieces. Mmmmmm, it was sure good! Now I am resting on the dog bed again. It was a very, very nice Sunday afternoon!

Aghhhhhh, Mom can't open Beanie's page!!!!

Help... Mom can't open Beanie's page tonight. Everyone else's page opens immediately, but his just loads and loads and loads and then says done, but nothing happens. She has tried everything she can... she went to my page and tried from there, nope, wouldn't work. She tried by going to Yuji's page and clicking on Beanie's photo in a gift he gave Yuji, didn't work. She tried to write a diary for him from the main account page... that opens, but it won't take the entry after she says to submit it. Weird, huh???
Anyone every have this happen before??????

Show dog stuff....

Jenny was bragging cuz she produced a champion daughter. Well, maybe she is forgetting, but her daughter is also MY daughter, and half those genes came from me!!! Obviously, the nice skull ones were mine, as well as the nice coat ones. Jenny tends to forget it takes two to make babies!!!
And, I am proud to announce, Mom got a phone call last night and now my sister is also a champion. Jenny doesn't even HAVE a sister!!!
Just cuz I can't make anymore babies doesn't make me any less of a super dog... it actually makes me a better house pet, which means I am better than she is. So there, Jenny!!!

Mom's HOME!!!

A nice surprise today... Mom didn't have to go to work at all!! She had to go to an appointment this morning, then another appointment right after that one, and Tonya wasn't working, so they didn't do any grooming at all. Soo, she got home from her appointments at noon and now we are tying to convince her that we need to run in the dog yard before the big snow storm starts. She is not convincing too well... she says she is too old today. Must be from those appointments she went to, we think. One was for her blood pressure and one for her bones... guess they forgot that owning a dog lowers a persons blood pressure and she owns lots of dogs, so hers must be really, really low???? Or, maybe owning too many makes it go too high??? Oh well, she said it's fine now. We hope so!! It was a long week so far!
Anyway, now I am playing with Tyson and Ali and Beanie and pretty soon we are gonna go help Mom read a book. We love to read books!!!
Hey, Jenny just told us to look out the windows... there is a big truck here and they are taking horses out of it!!! Lots of horses. Must be for the vet up the hill. Those big trucks usually park here and the vet comes down to see the horses in our driveway. We love that cuz we love to look at horses. These have jackets on just like our jackets, how cool is that? Gotta go watch them now!!

My HBC experience...

Mom read back thru my diaries and realized she had not written about my "accident". Way back, Mom used to let us run home from work without our leashes. We all had obedience training and we ALWAYS came when she called us. Besides, we were going home. Soo, exactly two years ago this week, when Mom got out of work she was carrying Sarah and a bag of dog food so she let me go home loose. I ran home and got there before she did, so I moseyed over and checked out our car, parked beside our house. We have an huge paved parking lot joining the house and the kennel building, but there is a main road that goes right by our place. It was 5:30, so the traffic was really busy. (and fast cuz it's rural). Well, there was a car stopped on the other side of the road and a man was outside his car. He said hello to me, so I raced on over to see him. Mom screamed at me to stop, but I was on the other side of her car so I assumed since I couldn't see her, I also didn't have to listen to her!! Well, a big van hit me broadside, threw me up into the air, then drove over me. I crawled out of the road, screaming and screaming. Mom was hysterical, but she grabbed me, (I bit her!!!) and ran up the hill to the vet's next door. I kept passing out, so she was kept pinching my face to wake me up. Anyway, we got there and Mom was still also carrying the baby puppy and the bag of food!!!! The vets ran out and grabbed me, and as soon as Mom was sort of recovered, she came out back, too. They gave me an IV and lots of pain drugs and anti-shock drugs. Everyone assumed my spine was shattered and they were talking about surgery IF I survived the night. I started to wake up and I knew Mom and tried to get up, but they wouldn't let me. To make a very long story shorter, I got lots of x-rays and drugs, but aside from lots of bleeding into my lungs, and a sore elbow, I was fine and was able to go home with Mom that night. LUCKY, huh??? I only had a small spot of road rash on my back, and no blood anywhere!!! The man that hit me stopped at the vets... he was hysterical about me, too! His car grill was all smashed from me! He said he was going 55 mph, (the speed limit), and was all upset cuz he couldn't stop when he saw me. Mom gave him a big hug and apologized for me running into the road and scaring him! No one could believe I was okay!
And, of course there is a moral!!! Mom says people should NEVER, EVER forget that we are dogs and no matter how well we are trained, stuff can and does happen, when you least expect it! She will NEVER let us off leash again unless we are in a completely safe place, like an island in the kayaking ponds, or a fenced yard, because she never, ever wants to go thru that again. I was the first dog she ever had get hit, in fact, the first one she ever even witnessed getting hit, and she can still hear the thud and see me flying into the air, even today! She says loose dogs were fine back when she was a kid and lived way off the road on a farm, but no longer! She even makes us wear a leash to go from the house to the car, only about 15 or 20 feet!!! We don't argue with her about that!

I'm a snow bunny again...

Holy Moly... we got to play in the snow TWO days in a row! But, alas, we couldn't go down to the big yard. Mom was getting too bogged down in the deep snow trying to get down there, and besides she was worried that she wouldn't be able to shut the gate and one of us, (I won't mention the name of the one who RAN into the road long ago and got hit, but I wasn't hurt badly,) might run into the road again. Sooo, we went down to the lab pen instead, which was cool cuz Beanie discovered an huge clump of suet that one of the wild birds must have dropped while they were flying over the pen. Mmmmm, it was tasty! We all shared it.
Mom was still groaning and moaning about taking photos of black dogs against white snow, but she did manage to get a few to add to our pages. She says you will have to imagine the expressions on our faces.
Now I vote it's time for a Sunday afternoon nap while Mom reads her book for a while. Catch ya later!

Playing again???

Mom was watching the forecast on the TV and they said it's gonna be sunny all weekend. Mom says that's good cuz we can go outside and play tomorrow afternoon. It will be so nice cuz with all the melting the snow got all full of water, now it's frozen again and we will be able to run right on top of it, just like on regular ground. Beanie won't even get any snowballs on his coat! Mom says we can go down to the big field cuz it will be nicer down there. It seems like the sun is saying Spring even if the wind is blowing and it's still cold. I love the Spring, it's warm and sunny and it smells so good!!!
Well, gotta go now, me and Beanie are playing on my bed. I am being nice to him so Mom will be sure to let us play tomorrow!!!!

Playing in the snow again....

Mom got out really early cuz it's 55 degrees and she said we could go play in the field. Well, we all ran and ran and ran, then I heard a big mousie. I pounced on him, but he was running very fast under the snow and it takes too long for me to dig along his trail. I tried and tried, I even dug up some dirt and old dead grass, but the mousie won again!
Man, it was pretty nice out there... the only problem was that a bunch of clouds came along and made it too hard for Mom to take photos of me in the snow. The camera over compensated for the snow and I came out way, way too dark. Mom made some changes to the exposure, but it still wasn't good. If the sun is shining it makes more shadows which is better. Oh well, at least you can see me, poor Ali was completely lost in the snow. Mom couldn't use any of her photos. And, for some reason, Beanie's were all out of focus. Probably cuz he is out of focus today since he didn't win his vacuum cleaner so he thinks he doesn't have any friends!

Babysit, MOI???? Nope!

Mom brought a labrador home from work tonight. For some silly reason she thinks I'm gonna babysit for her. Lucy used to be one of Mom's labs but she now lives with some friends of Mom's. They are having a new house built, so she came here for a few weeks, way, way back in the beginning of November. The house was gonna be ready in December. Well, lots of stuff happened... power outages, snow storms, more power outages, and now they are supposed to move in during the first part of March. Poor Lucy has been in the kennel the whole time and is getting sick of it. She has lost a bunch of weight, so Mom decided to bring her home now that Daegan has left. Since Jenny is occupied with her babies Mom has decided that I can hang out with Lucy. I wonder if Mom knows I don't do labs??? I think she can hang out with Fonzi and I will hang out with Pinki. That makes lots of sense to me!!! Lucy is nice enough, but she has a BBIG mouth... she loves to bark, lots! I like my life to be quiet and calm... neither of which can describe Lucy. I'll let you know how it goes.........

New Computer

Well, Mom did clean the house for most of the day. We all figured she would spend the whole day working on the new computer, but I guess she was too tired from yesterday.
She did take a whole bunch of stuff off the old one cuz she thinks her friend is gonna buy it. I guess we like the new one okay, but some of Mom's software won't install with Windows Vista. Weird, cuz it did install on her laptop, but I guess this is 64 bit, so that's the difference. Mom used to be a real computer geek long ago, but now she has no idea what makes them work. All she knows is to reboot if something screws up... that works usually.
When we came inside tonight I ran over to see Jenny's babies. Man oh man, I thought she was gonna kill me before Mom rescued me. I'm not sure she is a very nice dog!!! Mom says it's cuz she has very young babies and she will get nicer as they get older. I sure hope so!!! With Pinki's litter she would even let me come into the pen and see them. Not this time!!! I can't get even close to the pen. Maybe she knew that I was the daddy of Pinki's litter and this litter is Thomas'.
That makes me very lonely... Ali has Beanie, Tyson has Bubbles and I have NO ONE! Mom did let me spend the whole afternoon outside with Pinki. That was pretty fun, I must admit, and it was very, very warm out there. Not now, it's getting cold already. Mom says the whole world is gonna be a skating rink tomorrow from all the re-frozen melted snow. Good thing she wore her ice boots home from work this morning!
Well, I've babbled long enough, gotta go to bed now!
