Yup, this time I saw the email from HQ... I was picked AGAIN for a Diary pick. It is LESS than one week since my last pick!! Thank you ALL for not mentioning it, I am already too embarrassed!
Well, Sunday we went off for a LONG kayaking trip. Too bad Mom didn't study her radar map a little better...she might have noticed those storms were moving MUCH faster than normal and were on a collision course with our little kayaking pond!!
The good news...either they FINALLY fixed the dam from when it was damaged in Hurricane Irene YEARS ago, OR all that extra rain we've been having really filled up the pond because for the first time since the hurricane the pond was filled to its pre-Irene levels. That is FOUR FEET deeper than it's been since then.
Too bad cuz Mom wanted to take some photos of the pretty blue flag flowers that grow up there at this time of year. Well, when the water came up, it flooded the plants and she only saw ONE single, tiny, almost gone by blue flower!
Me, I saw LOTS of water, BOL! Julia decided since Barney loves to ride on the top of the cowl maybe I should try it. Okay, I am game! So, there I was, sitting up there, viewing the world, when suddenly Julia decides to make a 180 degree turn... SPLASH, the Toto was swimming!
Of course, Julia didn't want to get wet so she MADE me get back up there instead of inside the warm, DRY kayak. By now that wind was really blowing and ice, cold rain was adding insult to injury! To further my misery, she dumped me TWICE more before we got back to shore.
Then, because I was still soaking wet, she decided I needed to ride home in the crate. Of course that meant NO ICE CREAM when they stopped at the ice cream place. Mom didn't tell her that I don't even LIKE ice cream, hehehe!

Mom said I got another Diary pick today. She wasn't sure she was even gonna tell me about it, but decided some more jealous member of my family would tell me if she didn't, and they might not be nice about it.
Yup, I am getting really embarrassed... I have been picked way too many times in the last few weeks and I am sure that picking machine is stuck tight on ME!
Please don't send me any more gifts, etc., for my picks. I am gonna try to pretend they picked some other black mini poodle named "Toto" who also has a HUGE family!!!
Congratulations other black mini poodle named Toto on your diary pick...good job!!!

Hey, me and Skye are going camping in a few weeks. We're going to MY favorite campground, the place with all the ponds. Mom even asked Julia to go along, too. Hopefully, my girls won't get into a fight about who gets to sleep with me or take me in their kayak. Come to think of it, I usually sleep with Mom so they don't get jealous, and Julia doesn't like me in her kayak...she rather have Barney or Ali, so it should be fine! Besides, if they are gonna be fishing, I will need to stay with Mom so as to not get caught on their hooks!!!!
I suggested Mom start getting the camping stuff together but she reminded me it is already all packed up in the Summer kitchen in our nice, new storage boxes. Cool!
Mom and Skye were making up a menu... Mom included Chickie. Being so nice, I offered to gather up the chickies to take with us, BOL!!!

This afternoon Mom got a text from my best friend Skye. Seems she has a Summer job scooping ice cream at an arcade right down the road from our house. She suggested Mom bring me and Annie down later for some ice cream!
Good idea!!! After we played in the field, Mom worked in the garden, and we had our supper Mom got our collars and leashes out and off we went, just me and Annie and Mom. I have NEVER been to that place before, I thought it was just mini golf and a driving range.
Well, it wasn't busy cuz it's now cloudy and cool so Skye invited us inside and Mom got an ice cream cone. She chose the brownie bits, which, I admit, sounded pretty good.
Because it was a BIG cone, Skye got two dishes and Mom put some in each dish, one for me and one for Annie. Too bad I remembered I HATE ice cream after I tried it, BOL!!! Annie was happy to eat hers AND mine.
Then, we went back outside where a little five year old boy joined us. Turns out, he is the son of the owners, and he doesn't have a dog and he WANTS a dog!!! Sooo, Annie and I decided to let him pretend we were his dogs! He walked us around the lawn, he let us kiss him, and he even let me lick his ears!!!! I had fun, and so did he!!!
Soo, I scream in disgust for Ice Cream, but I guess I will go back with Mom if she gets ice cream again! Problem is, Mom doesn't scream for ice cream either...she says it's okay once in a while but she doesn't prefer it! Oh well, we can go visit Skye anyway, I think!!

Wow, the diary picker machine must be stuck on my family, actually, it must be stuck on ME!!!! I was picked twice during the last week of May and again today. Both Jethro and Ali were also picked in the last couple of weeks. Mom is getting embarrassed, to say the least!
At any rate, I DO enjoy being in the limelight...I dream of being famous, BOL! Mom wonders what I will be famous for, though! Silly woman, does it really matter as long as you're famous??
Today I went over to work and Mom worked on my groom again. Sadly, there isn't too much she can do with it until it grows out some...right now it is between the fuu fuu do and whatever other do Mom decides to give me. As a result, my legs are really, really, really short and look like toothpicks. It is a good thing I am not overweight or it would look even worse!!!
She did shorten my ears a bit and finally shaved my feet and fixed my topknot a bit. Someone at obedience class tonight said I looked good...hmmm, wonder who THEIR groomer is????
Speaking of obedience class, once again I am the official demo dog. I HATE that job. Basically I have to stand around, being ignored, then I have to perform perfectly for the demo part, then stand around again.
Tonight we worked on the down stay. After a major heat wave it was quite cool tonight, I mean downright cold like 64 degrees cold. My freshly shaved feet were freezing on that cold, WET ground. Everywhere Mom had me lie down was soggy and cold and wet.
Finally, it was over and I went out with the other house dogs. Would you believe that crazy Darrell was trying to start something with me??? I suspect he was jealous because I am so special. I'm sure it wasn't my "I was out with Mom and you weren't" attitude, hehehe!
Oh well, now I am sleeping under Mom's desk and Darrell is sleeping in his crate, BOL!

Is anyone else old enough to remember that saying?? Well, it seems it is also true of the groomer's children... they are so ungroomed they can't go out in public!!!
As you probably guessed. I need a haircut. Mom was feeling sorry for me in my fuu fuu do so she told Tonya to clip off my mane and shoulders. She handed her a really CLOSE clipper. Tonya was nervous, (wouldn't you be if YOUR boss handed you her dog and the clippers and you were only the bather/brusher???) I, however, do trust Tonya, especially since Mom had her groom me long ago and poor Tonya clipped ALL my hair off, even my topknot and my leg hair!!! Trust me, Mom was nice enough, but I bet Tonya won't do THAT again!!!
Anyway, after Tonya clipped off my long hair she gave me a bath. Then, after Mom was done with ALL the other huge, hairy beasts and was way, way too tired, she put me on the table. First, she shaved my legs in the old fuu fuu do...I suspect she forgot she told Tonya to cut the front part off??? After that was done, she then SHAVED OFF MY BUTT PUFFS?????? Did she shave down my hairy feet??? NOPE, she did not! She did, however, shave my face.
Soo, now I am bare in the back and short in the front with big, hairy feet. Mom announced she could not hold those clippers for one minute longer and she was done. She and Tonya went on a break, with me, and Mom said she would "think" about how she was going to "fix" my groom.
It has been THREE DAYS, and I am still the same. In fact, Mom took me off to her obedience class and made me be the demo dog looking like this!!! In fact, she took a young man's lab to demo something and asked him to hold me while she did that and he said NO WAY!!! Not really, but you should have seen the look on his face.
IN FACT, I wandered out to chase the chickies today and they all ran and hid when they saw me!!!!!!!
Not good, not good at all!
BTW, I DID notice I got a diary pick the other day but my hairy feet were sort of like trying to type with mittens on...sorry! Thanks for all your gifts and well wishes though!

AND, that 34 degrees is in the WARMEST part of the day, 5PM. What the hay is happening here??? Speaking of hay, the poor farmer up the road cut ALL his hay the other day... now it is lying there, soaking up all the rain! Garden mulch anyone???
Seriously, it is SERIOUSLY cold and wet here today. It started out at 48 degrees, now it has dropped to 34 and it is POURING, BLOWING, FREEZING rain, supposed to change over to snow later. Mom says she remembers a cold Memorial Weekend, but I sure don't remember ANYTHING like this!!!
Since there was nothing else much to do I traveled along with Mom down to the nearest big city to pick up her new glasses. I don't remember if I mentioned it or not, but she and Julia went there LAST Saturday to get them. I couldn't go cuz it was way, way tooooo hot!!!
Mom needed an exam first, so she called for an appointment and they told her they could DEFINITELY make them while she waited. She told them she had trifocals, no problem they said.
Well, of course you all know where this is going... turns out, after spending two hours to get there and another two hours for the exam and to fit the glasses they told her they couldn't do HER lenses in house and they wouldn't be ready for another week. Mom was LIVID, but not much she could do.
Since it was so nasty today she decided we would make the drive again and pick them up instead of having them mail them to her. They have a great Panera's bakery right next door so I guess that was her ulterior motive??? I didn't mind, I ate the leftovers, hehehe!
I will say, it was nice and warm in the car...Mom cranked the heat and the stereo and we took the back way so as to keep away from all the Memorial Day travelers. As it turned out, the back way was much quicker cuz sure enough, we saw LOTS of accidents when we got near the Interstate!
When I got home it was dinner time. I think the others suspect I went somewhere and got something to eat because I didn't want my dinner, BOL! Oh well, what they don't know won't hurt them. If I don't breathe on anyone they won't know, right???

It's been very hot and humid here for the last few days. Mom has been cleaning like crazy mopping floors, scrubbing dog beds. She says our house smells like a dog. Like I am to blame for that?
Today she mopped every single floor and then she washed all the rugs and put them all back down. After that was all done she announced to us dogs that from now on we would be sleeping in our crates since it seems at least one of us has been using the scatter rugs as a pee pad. Hello, before she said she got scatter rugs so she could just toss them into the washer. Trust me that news about the crates did not go over well.
I personally do not do crates. I may eat my dinner in my crate, but as soon as I am finished, I bark until Mom lets me out. I sleep on MY water bed in MY bedroom and I allow Mom and Toto and Ali to sleep there with me, plus anyone else who needs a comfy bed. Fortunately, it is queen sized.
Anyway, it got time to go to bed. Mom put us all outside, then got the crate treats and convinced the others to hop into their crate. Meanwhile, I was hiding under her desk.
Sadly, Mom can count and she realized she had one treat too many so she came and got me. She put me in my crate, shut the door and headed off to bed.
I barked. I barked and barked and barked. There is a heat register right under Moms bed and the sound from the dog room travels right thru the ductwork and out that register. I know that so I kept barking and barking.
Sure enough, I heard the bedroom door open, I heard footsteps thru the living room and kitchen and...Mom came into the dog room and got me!!! Ali and Beanie and Harvey screamed and howled so she got them, too. Hehehe, her big plan didn't even make the first night, BOL!!!

Yahoo!! Mom said I was a daily Diary pick today. It's been awhile, so I really appreciated the gesture!
In my last diary you may recall I was enjoying the wicked nice Summer weather. Well, all good things must end, and alas, apparently Summer was pretty short up here in NH this year.
Mom and I went shopping yesterday for Mom's day. (I took her out to get her a little something, hehehe! Not really, but, hey, it sounded good, didn't it???) Anyway, whilst we were driving to the bigger city, about a half hour away, the temperature went from 65 degrees down to 54 degrees in just a few miles, at 3 PM, no less. A HUGE gust of wind came up and first Mom turned off the AC, and opened the windows, then, she shut the windows, then, she turned on the heater!!!
When we got up this morning it was downright FREEZING! The Wind was still blowing all day long and now the temperature is REALLY dropping...Mom just dragged all the hanging flowers in from outside and she also covered up the tomatoes that were hopefully growing in the garden.
All I can say is if Winter is here can Summer be far behind??? Nooo, wait, that isn't the right saying at all!!! Better might be Summer is GREAT in New Hampshire IF you happen to be there on that day, BOL!!!!

Yesterday Mom and Julia and Beanie and Barney went off to the pond again and I had to stay home. For some reason, I was having a bad day and something in my back or neck, I think, was hurting me bad. All I could do was lie around and I couldn't even eat my dinner.
Mom thinks I might have tweaked something during my near death experience? Fortunately, the vet was closed or I would have had to go visit them, UGH!
Today, I sucked up, and pretended I felt GREAT so I did get to go with them in the canoe. Mom said the canoe was bigger so I would have room to lie down if I needed to. Guess she didn't realize it hurts MORE when I lie down, BOL!
Anyway, I did have a pretty good time. It was kind of hot in the canoe, but not too bad so I didn't complain about that. We did see lots of turtles sunning themselves, and Julia actually caught a baby turtle!!!
I am sooo happy to have all this nice, warm weather. I hope it stays like this ALL Summer long!!!! I will go kayaking and canoeing and camping every single weekend!!!
