Arrival Story:
For many years Otis and his buddy Max (shown with him in one of these pictures) had it made -- Dad took them hiking and camping, brushed them, snuggled them, and made sure they were never afraid. And then Dad got sick. Sometimes he didn't leave his bed for days. Otis and Max never left his side, and never complained, even when he forgot to feed them. Things began to get scary. Then came the foster homes -- kind people, but not family. No one who didn't see them as just "passing through". No one who would open their hearts to two old companions desperate for a real home.

Bio:
And don't let those stubby legs fool you! When its time for a walk, this little guy falls into the same ground-covering, rolling canter he used back when he was hiking in Eastern Oregon with Dad. Otis is a 15-lb. purebred long-haired, brown dappled dachshund. If left untrimmed, his long plush coat hair can give him a "wild and crazy guy" appearance -- especially because he's so close to the ground that it picks up leaves and twigs. After his quick trip to the groomers this week he's looking fit and fine.
