Arrival Story:
For many years Max and his buddy Otis had it made -- Dad took them hiking and camping, brushed them, snuggled them, and made sure they were never afraid. And then Dad got sick. Sometimes he didn't leave his bed for days. Max and Otis never left his side, and never complained, even when he forgot to feed them. Things began to get scary. Then came the foster homes -- kind people, but not family. No one who didn't see them as just "passing through". No one who would open their hearts to two old companions desperate for a real home.

Bio:
Sweet old Max is a 16-lb. long-haired brown dappled dachsund who asks nothing more of life than snuggles, belly rubs, and walks. And as many nummies as he can mooch. He's no spring chicken, but when his stubby little legs break into their usual rolling canter you soon realize he's not the only one who's going to get exercised on your walk! His foster family reports that their young Papillon delights in finally finding someone shorter than she is, and Max patiently tolerates her ministrations. Although he'd love to sleep up on the bed with the humans, he is content to curl up in his own bed nearby. He is housebroken, but should have a home with dog-door access to a fenced yard to avoid accidents.
