I went on my first vacation!

Hi I am Oliver and this is my very first diary entry. I am a few days short of being 6 months old right now.
Last weekend my mommy and daddy took me on a vacation. Of course I wasn't sure what I was in for but I happily got into the car friday afternoon.
We drove for hours and hours (or so it seemed) and then it got dark out. We arrived at these cabins in the woods in New Hampshire. My mommy put me on my leash and walked me around but I was too nervous to pee or poo.
We checked in and had a nice cabin with a bed that I instantly jumped up on, muddy feet and all. Mommy and Daddy took turns taking me for walks on the leash because they said I needed to "go potty". I wasn't going to though because I wasn't in my very own yard. I kept mommy and daddy awake most of the night because I think they were nervous that I was going to pee in the cabin. I was a good boy though and did not pee in the cabin.
The next morning they tried again to get me to go and finally I had to. It was the first time I went potty while on my leash. It was scary but it was a necessity. I hadn't gone pee in 15 hours!
Once that was done, I went with Mommy and Daddy in the car. We went to a store and left our car there. We got in a van and they drove us down to the river. We were going canoing!!! I love the water and Mommy even got me my very own life jacket in case I swam in water that was too deep.
The canoe ride was fun!! I only jumped out of the canoe one time and other than that I was a really good boy. We stopped for lunch and I got to run around on a beach and dig some holes. I went for a quick swim there too but I was a bit afraid of the current. Last time I went swimming, it was in a calm lake -- the river was moving a bit and so I only went in about half way. No matter, I had a great time!!!
We continued on down the river (I heard Daddy say we went 5 miles!!) and I had a great time. I didn't like sitting on the floor of the canoe, so I climbed up on the bag we had with the towels in it. Soft!!
After canoing we went back to the cabins where I had a nap while Mommy and Daddy went to dinner.
The next day Mommy and Daddy tried to get me to go potty again but I was holding it. Finally they gave up (thank god) and we left on a trip. First we went to breakfast at this place called the Chinook Cafe. They had nice patio where they allowed doggies to sit with their owners. I even scored a few treats from the nice waitress!
After that, we drove up Mount Washington. It was really high up -- we even passed through the clouds. It was very cold up top but thankfully I am double coated so I was not cold at all.
I was being kind of stubborn I must admit -- I hadn't gone potty yet and Mommy and Daddy were worried. They kept trying to get me to go but I wouldn't. Finally after we came back down from the mountain, I went running with Daddy. He didn't stop running and I love to chase him!! But when I was chasing him I realized that I really did have to go potty and I stopped and did it then and there. I must've been going for so long becasue daddy laid down on the ground laughing because he couldn't believe I was peeing so much.
After that we went back to the cabins where I saw Sonny the golden retriever. He was very happy but we both wished that we could be off-leash so we could really sniff each other and play.
That night mommy and daddy and I went to a campfire where we sat around talking and stuff. Sonny and his owners were there. Mommy and Daddy drank some beers and I had a great time hanging out by the fire with my new friend Sonny.
The next day we had to leave and we took a drive on the Kankamangus highway. We stopped a lot because Mommy wanted some pictures of the scenery. Finally we headed home and I made it back to my very own yard.
I had a great time on my trip and I hope that Mommy and Daddy take me someplace again soon!
