Quick Bio:
-deaf

Arrival Story:
Lola is a beautiful, brindle and white, 3 year old female bully, who entered our rescue program on 01/27/08. Lola is spayed, micro-chipped, completely housebroken, and very healthy. She does have the occasional skin issues, and does not mind her ointments being applied. She does develop an irritation under her tail occasionally and will alert you to it. It only requires an ointment application. All of her immunizations and vaccinations are up to date. Unfortunately, she was born deaf and because of this she does get startled quite easily and is very scared of large overhead objects such as ceiling fans, balloons, and fishing poles. She does not get angry when she sees these objects, only scared. She will cower down and attempt to hide. She prefers to hide in her crate where she is most comfortable! Lola’s original owners were forced to surrender her because she does not get along well with other animals, but does get along very well with humans. With other dogs, she has a tendency to be over dominating, especially with food and toys. Because of this, sadly, Lola is unable to be taken to the beach or to dog parks as she has been known to be unpredictable and has become aggressive to other dogs. She prefers to be a couch potato and cuddle! Lola has a passion for remote controls and other small objects left out, so every effort should be taken to keep unwanted items out of her reach. She is a very good eater, even with her twice daily fish oil pill supplements (she is very cute and will take the pill very gently out of your hand!). She is an excellent traveler who absolutely loves to take long rides. Lola appreciates structure, schedule, and discipline. She is a happier dog when she has these in her life. Lola is a very sweet and loving dog. She needs a stable, loving home where she can receive lots of affection, be herself, and give her new forever family her unconditional love. ~ 24 Hour Hot-line: 1.954.802.1442

Lola is doing wonderfully. She is coming out of her shell exploring more of the house on her own. She will actually walk into my kitchen (under a ceiling fan) on her own. She is a little ham! When she has to go potty she does the little pee pee dance with her front paws... she does this when she gets excited too. She is such a loving little pup. She loves to snuggle and give kisses.

Lola went to a bulldog meetup today with lots of other dogs - she did wonderfully! No aggression, no problems, no mis-behaving....Lola was a princess! We are taking her out and exposing her slowly to new experiences and events, she is adjusting well and is behaving herself nicely. We are so proud of Lola!

I found out I live right around the corner from the Poinciana Dog Park, so we went over there when I got off work today. There were plenty of dogs of various breeds and sizes (even a 4 month old bully). We took a couple of strolls around the park with her leash on, making sure to stop and let the other dogs sniff and let her sniff the others. After a while of standing and letting her play on the leash, I decided to let her off. She was wonderful. She played with the other dogs and anyone who would give her attention. She was awesome! I really think coming to Barkapoolza help her out a great deal, she seemed a little different after the event. I hope going to the park helps her out also. I will try to go several times a week if not every night.
