Arrival Story:
Aqua came to us on 5/15/08 when she was only six weeks old. We got a phone call from someone saying that he had went out to his property that morning to burn a pile of wood. When he was getting ready to start burning the pile of wood, he heard crying coming from the pile of wood. He dug through the pile of wood and found this puppy. After looking around to make sure there were no more puppies, he called a local vet to see if they knew of anyone who could help him with the puppy. She recomended our rescue group (Tassie's Hope Animal Rescue) and gave him my phone #. He called us and we agreed to take her. When we got her home I noticed that her balance was not right. She could not scratch herself without falling on her back, and would stumble sometimes when she walked. Her temp was normal, but her gums were extremely pale she also had a round belly full of worms. We wormed her that night and made an appointment for her to see the vet in the morning. The next morning she pooped out a huge load of worms. The vet ran a fecal test and she was completely infested with worms. We still don't know exactly what was wrong with her for sure, but we do have ideas of things it could have been. It could have been caused by the very large worm load she had, she could have gotten hit in the head when she was younger, or she could have had a very light case of distemper. Now it is 5/22 (a week later) and she is doing much better. She is not anemic anymore, and her balance is much better. Right now we are takeing care of her and nursing her back to health.
