Well, Mommy surprised me by letting me out the pen early this morning and told me that we were going for a walk while it was still cool outside. Yay! I love walks.
So, we got in the car and drove to the farm. There is a long (1 mile) lane that goes back to the woods and it cuts right between the corn rows so it is always shady. Wow! That corn is really tall and I love running through the rows.
We got back to the woods and I was happily trotting along when this horribly mean ole buzzy thing started circling me. Mommy thought that it was a horse fly; so she started to swat at it but that made it mad and it took off after Mommy! It was a bumblebee and Mommy said that we should get out of there. So we turned around and walked back through the cornfield. I was hoping to walk on down to the river and take a swim but that mean ole buzzy bee took care of that. Well, I am not allowed to go in the water for awhile anyhow because I have a little ear infection right now. DARN! Boy, that sure would have felt good though. Maybe next time.
It was really starting to warm up by the time that we got back to the car; so Mommy poured me some nice cold water in my travel bowl. Boy, that tasted good. Then she said that we were going out for breakfeast! Wow! Can this day get any better? I love to eat!!
So we went to a drive-thru and Mommy got a sausage patty just for me. We parked along side of a really neat road that had big shade trees on both sides and was really a quiet and cool spot to enjoy our breakfeast. That was such fun.
Then we headed back home and when we got back, I even got to come in the house for awhile. But Mommy had a trick up her sleeve! I got a piece of bologna as a treat but it seems there was this little hard crunchy thing hidden in the middle. She told me that it was a pill that I must take; then she cleaned my ears and put medicine in them. YUK! I hate that. So then I got to go outside and help Dad work on the car.
Mommy brought the cats in the house and left the garage door up, so I could stretch out on the nice cool concrete floor. Oooh, that feels so nice. Guess that I will take a little snooze after my big morning. I'm sure that Mommy will let me back in the house later on today but I am going to be very cautious of that trick piece of bologna that she offers me. Heh, Heh!

Well, let's see now. First off when Mommy let me out of my pen, I grabbed the frisbee and took off with it. Mommy wouldn't chase me because she was busy cleaning out the dog pen, so I chewed my frisbee all to pieces. Mommy frowned but picked up the pieces and went on about her cleaning task.
Next, I found my retriever "dummy" and since no one wanted to play, I chewed the end off of that too. Wow! It is fascinating to see the stuff that they put inside of those things.
Then I moved on to the plastic jug and the pop can. Mommy scolded me for that and threw the things in the trash. She was busy trimming bushes by now; so I grabbed her little ole white plastic hen that is a planter and tore the wings off of that. Tee Hee!! By now, Mommy is getting a little grouchy, for some reason.
Well, we finally came in the house; Mommy said that she needed to rest a little and cool off. So I decided to explore a little bit. Mommy followed me around through the house and closed all of the doors into the bathrooms and bedrooms. Wonder why she did that? Soon I found myself trapped in this little pinchy place with the glass doors. The door closed behind me and I couldn't get out by myself. Mommy didn't come to rescue me so I stood there and waited patiently. Pretty soon, she began to call me and I could hear all of the doors open and close and she kept calling and calling but I couldn't answer her. She proceeded to go through the whole house, opening and closing doors three times and then went to the basement door and called me. She should know that I never go down there, it is too dark and I don't like going down stairs. Pretty soon, she came back again and I could hear her go in the bathroom and pull back the shower curtain and she kept calling me. Fianlly, she came into the other bathroom and opened the shower door. There I stood patiently waiting to be rescued. Geez! Mommy what took you so long? I 've been here all along. *Snickers*
Well, anyhow, Mommy opened the door and made me go outside and told me to be a good dog. Wonder what she meant by that? I am always a good dog. I even got some treats when she sent me outside, so I must have been really good, right?
Well, it is only noon; so I must check around and see what other fun things I can find to do. Why is Mommy standing inside the window and watching me with a disgusted look on her face? Oops!, maybe I wasn't supposed to tear that piece of lattice off the deck! Sorry Mom, but it looked like such fun.
Oh, and about those flowers well, I really didn't mean to smash them all down. Do you think that they will come back up after awhile?
Maybe I will just go lie down under that big shade tree for awhile and rest. (at least until Mommy goes back inside) Heh Heh

Ohio! That is where I live (so my Mommy tells me). I don't really remember living anywhere else. I came to Mom & Dad's house when I was 8 weeks old and have lived here ever since. I share my world with two silly old cats, Tuffy & Pickles and I love to chase them but I get in trouble for that! I am one year old now and Dad says that he is glad that I have outgrown my baby bark and that I am finally using my big dog bark. I am a big girl now and have outgrown some of my bad puppy habits. We are still working on a few, though. BOL! Sometimes I forget that I am a big dog and I still try to act like a puppy. Mom & Dad say that I look silly trying to scrunch up in my lawn chair because actually, I think that it has shrunk and I just don't fit any more. Tee Hee!
Anyhow, today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining and the humidity is low. I am enjoying the outdoors and playing in my swimming pool. I took a nap in the garage where the floor is nice and cool. Earlier this morning Mom & Dad let me take a car ride and we went to the farm where I could run and play. There is a long lane (they tell me that it is 1/2 mile long and we walked back to the woods. We followed the lane between the rows of corn; gosh that corn is tall! Dad says the stalks are about 10 foot tall; so they make lots of nice shade along the lane. I didn't go over in the corn rows more than two rows away because I was afraid that my humans might get lost if they didn't have me to guide them. I have to keep a close eye on them or they disappear and then I have to use my nose and my hearing to find them and get them back on track again. Humans can be lots of work sometimes!
The woods is really grown up in weeds right now; so we couldn't walk in there but we did hear a deer get up and run through the grass. Gee, I wish that I could have chased it but Mom & Dad told me to "stay"!!
We walked all along the edge of the woods in the cool shade and oh, the glorious smells that I found. I wanted to walk on back through the field to the creek but we couldn't get across the corn field, so we walked back to the lane and another 1/2 mile back to the car. Whew! I was getting mighty warm and tired and couldn't wait to get back in the car and stick my head out of the window while Dad drove back home. I even laid down on the backseat and rested for awhile. It was such a fun day and now I am going to relax in the back yard and enjoy the cool breeze.
Hope that you all are having a great summer too. I want to thank all of my friends for the beautiful blue collars and the sweet messages. Woof to you all. Keep cool!!

Mommy says that I have a chewing problem! I didn't know that chewing was a problem?
Anyhow, it has been raining here a lot; so I have had to be in the kennel quite a bit and I an just bored (so I chew!). Mommy bought me a new tug-rope to play with (you know the big, thick, braided kind with the knot on each end). Well, I chewed completely through that in about 15 minutes. I was quite proud of myself and thought that should be some sort of a record, but Mommy didn't seem to pleased about my new found skill. Gee, I thought that she would be happy that I took that gift that she gave me and made it into two! I also chewed a rawhide bone, dad's hat and tore apart my big blue bird toy.
Oh and then there was that plastic squeaker thing and the fuzzy eyeballs that I tore off one of my toys too. Ummm, then there was also the rug on the deck and the plastic baggie thingy and ummm, well, I tried to tear apart my blue octopus but Mommy took that away from me! (Hangs her head in shame)
Well, after all, what's a young dog supposed to do for entertainment?
I am not supposed to chase the cats and Mommy gets real unhappy if I try to play with the chickens. I mean, geez, I can't just lay around with my paws crossed and snooze away the day.
I haven't been able to go for a walk for about four days now because on our last romp, I twisted my leg when I tried to chase some birds and I have been limping because of that. So I just need to work off some of my pent up energy.
Gee, I sure hope that we can start going for our walks again pretty soon because I am running out of chewy things and toys. Woof! Woof!

Happy birthday to me! Today I am 1 year old and I get to write my first diary page. Woof Woof!
Mom made me a special picture to celebrate my special day and we have added it on my page.
I probably won't get to actually "celebrate" until tomorrow because the grandaughters will be here today and I have to stay in my pen when they are here. For some reason, they are afraid of me. Do you think that it might be my big feet? Or maybe the fact that I just get so excited to play that I forget my manners and want to jump. Mommy says that I need to learn to not do that because I could knock the little girls down and hurt them. I try to contain my enthusiam, but sometimes I forget.
Anyhow Mom & Dad are going to the pet store tomorrow to buy me my special brand of doggie food and a treat for my birthday. I suspect that Mom is going to buy me a new booda frisbee and some special yummy treats. She tells me that they have doggie biscuits with frosting and fancy decorations. Mmmmmmmmm! I can't wait. That sounds really yummy.
Well, I just cannot believe that I am a whole one year old. No wonder that I don't fit in my lawn chair any more. Mom says that she is going to have to take another picture of me in the chair so that you can all see how much I have grown.
I think that I will go play frisbee for a little bit and then lie down in the shade. It is really hot today. Maybe I will go lie down in my swimming pool. Oooh, I love the water and to splash and get all wet. It is even more fun to get everyone else all wet too!
Gotta run. So much to do, so much to do. *pant, pant, pant*
