It's a beautiful day in Ohio

Ohio! That is where I live (so my Mommy tells me). I don't really remember living anywhere else. I came to Mom & Dad's house when I was 8 weeks old and have lived here ever since. I share my world with two silly old cats, Tuffy & Pickles and I love to chase them but I get in trouble for that! I am one year old now and Dad says that he is glad that I have outgrown my baby bark and that I am finally using my big dog bark. I am a big girl now and have outgrown some of my bad puppy habits. We are still working on a few, though. BOL! Sometimes I forget that I am a big dog and I still try to act like a puppy. Mom & Dad say that I look silly trying to scrunch up in my lawn chair because actually, I think that it has shrunk and I just don't fit any more. Tee Hee!
Anyhow, today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining and the humidity is low. I am enjoying the outdoors and playing in my swimming pool. I took a nap in the garage where the floor is nice and cool. Earlier this morning Mom & Dad let me take a car ride and we went to the farm where I could run and play. There is a long lane (they tell me that it is 1/2 mile long and we walked back to the woods. We followed the lane between the rows of corn; gosh that corn is tall! Dad says the stalks are about 10 foot tall; so they make lots of nice shade along the lane. I didn't go over in the corn rows more than two rows away because I was afraid that my humans might get lost if they didn't have me to guide them. I have to keep a close eye on them or they disappear and then I have to use my nose and my hearing to find them and get them back on track again. Humans can be lots of work sometimes!
The woods is really grown up in weeds right now; so we couldn't walk in there but we did hear a deer get up and run through the grass. Gee, I wish that I could have chased it but Mom & Dad told me to "stay"!!
We walked all along the edge of the woods in the cool shade and oh, the glorious smells that I found. I wanted to walk on back through the field to the creek but we couldn't get across the corn field, so we walked back to the lane and another 1/2 mile back to the car. Whew! I was getting mighty warm and tired and couldn't wait to get back in the car and stick my head out of the window while Dad drove back home. I even laid down on the backseat and rested for awhile. It was such a fun day and now I am going to relax in the back yard and enjoy the cool breeze.
Hope that you all are having a great summer too. I want to thank all of my friends for the beautiful blue collars and the sweet messages. Woof to you all. Keep cool!!

I have a chewing problem!

Mommy says that I have a chewing problem! I didn't know that chewing was a problem?
Anyhow, it has been raining here a lot; so I have had to be in the kennel quite a bit and I an just bored (so I chew!). Mommy bought me a new tug-rope to play with (you know the big, thick, braided kind with the knot on each end). Well, I chewed completely through that in about 15 minutes. I was quite proud of myself and thought that should be some sort of a record, but Mommy didn't seem to pleased about my new found skill. Gee, I thought that she would be happy that I took that gift that she gave me and made it into two! I also chewed a rawhide bone, dad's hat and tore apart my big blue bird toy.
Oh and then there was that plastic squeaker thing and the fuzzy eyeballs that I tore off one of my toys too. Ummm, then there was also the rug on the deck and the plastic baggie thingy and ummm, well, I tried to tear apart my blue octopus but Mommy took that away from me! (Hangs her head in shame)
Well, after all, what's a young dog supposed to do for entertainment?
I am not supposed to chase the cats and Mommy gets real unhappy if I try to play with the chickens. I mean, geez, I can't just lay around with my paws crossed and snooze away the day.
I haven't been able to go for a walk for about four days now because on our last romp, I twisted my leg when I tried to chase some birds and I have been limping because of that. So I just need to work off some of my pent up energy.
Gee, I sure hope that we can start going for our walks again pretty soon because I am running out of chewy things and toys. Woof! Woof!

My first diary entry on my first birthday

Happy birthday to me! Today I am 1 year old and I get to write my first diary page. Woof Woof!
Mom made me a special picture to celebrate my special day and we have added it on my page.
I probably won't get to actually "celebrate" until tomorrow because the grandaughters will be here today and I have to stay in my pen when they are here. For some reason, they are afraid of me. Do you think that it might be my big feet? Or maybe the fact that I just get so excited to play that I forget my manners and want to jump. Mommy says that I need to learn to not do that because I could knock the little girls down and hurt them. I try to contain my enthusiam, but sometimes I forget.
Anyhow Mom & Dad are going to the pet store tomorrow to buy me my special brand of doggie food and a treat for my birthday. I suspect that Mom is going to buy me a new booda frisbee and some special yummy treats. She tells me that they have doggie biscuits with frosting and fancy decorations. Mmmmmmmmm! I can't wait. That sounds really yummy.
Well, I just cannot believe that I am a whole one year old. No wonder that I don't fit in my lawn chair any more. Mom says that she is going to have to take another picture of me in the chair so that you can all see how much I have grown.
I think that I will go play frisbee for a little bit and then lie down in the shade. It is really hot today. Maybe I will go lie down in my swimming pool. Oooh, I love the water and to splash and get all wet. It is even more fun to get everyone else all wet too!
Gotta run. So much to do, so much to do. *pant, pant, pant*
