Birthday: June 12th 2007 Likes: To play with my other dogs Pet-Peeves: don't really think he has any Favorite Toy: tennis balls Favorite Food: anything Favorite Walk: back yard Best Tricks: looking so cute Arrival Story: Buddy is a Golden Retriever that can be registered with the AKC. The family that adopts him will have the ability to get him registered. We can talk about that at the time of adoption. Buddy came to our home a shy boy. He wasn't beaten he just has been shy his whole life. The family that had him just didn't have time for him, and since he wasn't the type to jump in there and insist on getting attention. He really didn't get much. He has warmed up to me pretty fast, but still will jump away if I move too fast. He likes it when you sit down, then he will come up and want lovings, as much as he can get. I think with just a little bit of time and some great love on both parts. Buddy will become a great family dog. He already plays great with the other dogs in our rescue. There never was one an issue introducing him to any of the dogs. He just was as friendly to the first as to the last. He is great with kids, loves to play with them. And feels a lot more comfortable with them right off the bat. Buddy doesn't have a mean bone in his body, he is too sweet for that. He also isn't a fast paste type of dog. He isn't bouncing off the walls with puppy energy. But nor is he so laid back you can't get him to get up and chase a ball if you tossed it for him. He loves to chase balls, though he doesn't always bring it back to you. LOL All in all Buddy is a great dog, he just needs some special time with his loved ones to bring out the best in him. Any one who wishes to adopt him, must be willing to let us call their vet for references, and personal references. There is an adoption fee for this beautiful guy. Please email me if your interested in him. Bio: In the one picture of him, he isn't growling or anything. He just got his lip caught on his teeth when he was listening to me whine. I was trying to get him to perk up his ears. LOL I've Been On Dogster Since:
Well Buddy has been with us for 10 days now and he is getting along with us just fine. We took him in this past Tuesday to get fixed, and that went well. He also got a nice bath and got his hair clipped. Because of being left out in the yard and never fooled with he had a lot of matted fur, and he was so very dirty. It took my groomer washing him 3 times to get out all the dirt. The silly boy just laid down and wouldn’t move, so she had to just flip him on his other side in order to get the rest of him. He just laid their like it was his second nature to get baths. LOL He truly is a lovable guy who takes things in his stride. He was scared at first, but settled down, and every time we asked something new of him. He trembled with fear, but once he realized it wasn't going to hurt him, he settled down and enjoyed all the attention. He really is a great trooper, who deserves the best loving home that a family can give.
I have been bringing him into the house to socialize with us, and he has not once offered to go potty in the house. I wouldn't' say he is fully housebroken, but I can say that it wont take much to do so. He so wants to please his loved ones. He has settled down enough now to show he has a puppy side to him. He loves to chase tennis balls, and he will bring them back to me now. It is so cute to see him get all excited that you want to play with him. Buddy is the type of dog that you can't help but want to hug and love on. He beg's you to be loving and kind to him, it will be so very hard to let him go. But I know if I can find that perfect fit for him, he will be better off in his new home with a loving and attentative family. That way he doesn't really have to share the attention like he does with me and all my dogs and even a cat. LOL
He has now gotten to know my cat a bit better, and he likes to try and get a few good sniffs in before I tell him to back off. Our girl came to us with no claws, so she feels very insecure when a dog starts getting fresh with her. So we make certain that dogs can sniff but then they must leave her alone. I don't think he would have any real problems with a house that has cats. Because he listens right away when I tell him to back off. And he is only curious about our girl, he had no intention of running her down, or anything. So I think he should do just fine with other cats. Well this is enough for now, got to get back to work.
Bud is doing great, he is eating well from my hand and his bowl. He was a little shy at first of coming up and eating his food while I was right next to it. But I am gaining his trust and he is doing well. He will jump around you and want to play. I can toss out a ball for him, and he will chase it. But we haven't gotten him to bring it back to us as of yet. LOL I guess I am making this sound a lot worse then it really is. He is quiet a loving dog, he just has a few hang ups. I mean if you watch his video's you will see how he likes to play. And how he stay close around me when he is playing.
Today it is raining, so our working with Bud has not gone on as long as I would have liked it. Bud isn't house broken because they just had him as an outside dog. So we are working on that too. But for right now he is staying outside till I can make room for him inside the house. I have to JR's that are leaving today, and that way it will make room for our guy. I think he is coming along great, will post more later.
Buddy is settling into our home quite well. We just got him. He loves to get his tummy scratched and being talked to. Though he still is a shy one. He will come up only to sit a few feet away, whining. He so badly wants to trust, but he is scared yet. He acts like he has been beaten, but both owners who have had him have said he has never been touched like that. It could just be a shy gene he has in him. Either way he needs work, and that is what I am doing with him. I really don't think it will take much to get him to come out of his shell.
