My good pal Ernie George asked me to play a game, asking what kinda ice cream I would be. That is a haaaaard question. I asked Ma to help me. She says, well, you're stubborn, so you should definately be the REAL ice cream, like the Breyers kind, cuz it's always hard. And I got lotsa lotsa energies, so maybe something with chocolate or coffee. I also gots classic big, brown eyes, so something with chocolate chunks in it.

MA! MA! I KNOW! I'll be you're FAVORITE!

Ben and Jerry's Phish Food!! It's chocolate and marshmallow with little fishies in it! Yup, yup, I think that's the one. And I am mom's favorite, pretty sure. :)

Well, Ma was thinkin' the other day that she has come up with a few ponderings since I came to live with her and Dad, so I thought I would post them!

Do Border Collies ever sleep? I mean, REALLY sleep? Not with one eye open?

What exactly does it take to wear me out?

Why does the stubborn German (Short Hair) in me come out at the worst times?

What is with the foot-licking fetish?

Will I ever stop stalking Muffin?

Why am I so nosey?

How is it that I can find a sucker buried in 2 feet of snow, 3 feet away from the sidewalk?

Why won't I play fetch? And eat tennis balls?

How does such an ear-piercing, high-pitched bark come out of this moose of a dog?

Why do I think I can fit on your lap?

How can I be so smart, yet sometimes such a bone head?

And I think that about covers it for now - will keep you posted on any other musings!

WOOHOOO, buds, I gradumatated last night!!! (Just barely, but...) Ma says at least I didn't eat my diploma like Marley did! :)

Things went REALLY well at first - my heeling was perfect (fur me - still need to work on it) and my halt-sits were good and going fast then going slow, then figure 8's. And I got a perfect score on my stand for exam!! That was pretty cool.

Then the troubles started. I broke on both my long sit AND my long down. Ma couldn't believe it. I was pretty distracted through the whole thing, and I sometimes broke on my long sits, but NEVER on my long downs. So I scratched both of those. If not fur that I would have scored pretty high in the class. But oh, well, we had fun!!

The doggies that we thought would place did! Our shaggy black doggie furiend Daisy got first, our Golden furiend Zeb got second, and Lola the Labradoodle got third! It was a fun night. We got to each pick out a stuffie! I, of course, got mine home and it was destroyed in less than 10 minutes - Ma wasn't as impressed with me as I was when I pulled out the squeaker. Dunno why. Anywho, we're gonna see what other classes our teach Paula has up here and maybe we'll go again!

Learning is HARD!

School was EXHAUSTING last night! We were missing a couple doggies, Lola the Labradoodle and Arnette, the Swiss Mountain Dog. They are really fun doggies so I hope they come next week.

We worked on heeling as usual and lots of 1-2-3 HALTs. Ma gets frustrated with me cuz I do it when we're out walking, but I get stubborn when we're at class. We did long sits, which I only broke once, and long downs, which I never broke. Then came the recalls. I did REALLY good the first two times: Ma sat me, then walked across the room. Once all the doggies were lined up and the peeps were on the other side, our teacher Paula randomly picked people to call their dogs. The first two times I did ok, I was being kinda lazy and just lumbered over to Ma, but I did good sitting in front of her and finishing. Then the third time was a disaster - I wouldn't come, then I laid down, then my bud Zeb, a Golden Retriever who was sitting three dogs down, decided to run to Ma! That was kinda funny. Ma didn't think so cuz she had to come tug on my leash all the way across the room.

The last thing we practiced were figure 8's and GUESS WHAT?! Ma made ME be a POST! She said it would be good practice fur a long sit. I didn't stay still the WHOLE time, but did a lot better than Ma thought I would, so that was kinda cool. Our last class is next week, then the week after is our test and graduation! Gotta practice, practice, practice...

To Run or Not To Run? That's not even a good question.

So, this weekend I got into some trouble, but Daddy got into even MORE trouble. He and Grandpa were moving a fridge outta the basement, and they propped the back door open without telling Ma. So Ma was off vaccuuming, and when she was done she walked by the kitchen and saw the back door wide open and no dogs to be seen.

So, she looked out the window and saw Callie and I tearing circles in the neighbor's garden (Ma says thank DOG nothing was planted. I say some snacks woulda been nice.) So Ma yelled fur Dad (I will paraphrase as Ma mighta used some choice naughty words that I won't reprint) and told him to get the dogs back in the house and what the heck was he thinking?!?!

Well, Callie came back when she was called and got put on her rope. I decided there was more to see, so I took off down the block. Dad jumped in the truck and found me at the end of the block, and I jumped in the truck when he opened the door. Just needed to stretch my legs a bit.

When Dad got home he was pretty mad and was ranting and raving about putting in an electric fence, and Ma said ABSOLUTELY NOT. That is the lazy man's way of training a dog and that she was NOT ok with those or shock collars (except maybe in extreme cases, but I am not one of them.) She said if you want your dogs to listen, then spend some time training them. And that was the end of the discussion. :)

Sugar Kisses TAGGED me! So here we go...

What is your favorite color for Easter eggs?

Would you rather be a bunny or a chick?
I think a bunny - they can run real fast!

How many Easter eggs do you think you'll find when you get to hunt them at your house?
Any that are hidden! I got a good nose.

What kind of Easter basket are you hoping for?
Hopefully one with Muffin in it.

I went to schoooool!

Last night was my first obedience class! It was pretty fun, but boy was I tired at the end. Ma and I walked over to the school, and up the stairs, and saw....A WHOLE BUNCH OF DOGGIES! Wow, were there some bums to sniff. Really fun was the only little doggie - Ma thinks it's a wire-haired terrier, but not sure - she was all hyper and playful and I wanted to PLAY! Her name is Annabelle. I also made furiends with a Swiss Mountain Dog named Ardelle - she was reeeaaal meellow though.

So, we started by walkin' in a circle and "heeling". I'm not so good at that. Ma says we have to get a new training collar cuz the one she had fur me is too big. I did like the trainer lady. After just walkin' around fur a bit, we learned halt/sit. Ma says I was ok at "sit" but I wouldn't stay put fur long. I have ADD - way too distractable. Then we worked on "round about turns" which I was pretty good at, then 1-2-3 HALT that I wasn't so good at. I don't like to be RIGHT next to Ma, so she says we gotta do some work.

It was REALLY hot in the room we were in, so all us doggies AND peeps were pretty tired when we got done. Ma and I went back to the grandpawrents and had some water and some popcorn, then went home, where I promptly crawled on the couch and conked out!

We like to play! Callie and I had so much fun this weekend with the grandparents! Daddy was home in the afternoons, too, so that was SUPER GREAT! We got walks and attention and did some visiting.

Ma was all puzzled on Friday, cuz when she came home from work, Callie was wearing my collar. And her collar. And I wasn't wearing any! The peeps haven't been able to figure that one out yet, and I'm not telling!

OOOO, guess what! We're getting a snowstorm starting tonight!!! They are thinkin' 7-14 inches through Wednesday! I AM SOOOOO HAPPY!! Ma and Dad aren't though. I dunno why?
