My Summer Vacation 2007
by Jay-Jay sir Rufus
Well, my summer vacation in OC, NJ sure started out extra crappy. It rained for the whole first week! So what’s a pup to do…SLEEP! I almost turned into a little hairy pillow I was sleepin’ so much. Oh and don’t count the hoomans out, they were on their way to pillow form too. Aside from all the sleepin’ I spent lots of time watchin’ the hoomans play cards and anofver game called Scattergories. I sat on the table a few time for that one, actually I sat in the box on the table - Uncee Sal no wants my fluffy but on the kitchen table. So that was my first week of vacation - eat, sleep & sit in board game boxes.
Then the weekend came, and something miraculous happened…the sun came out!!!! It was glorious! I sure missed the sun! I was so happy the first morning I could go on the porch and have my post-wake-up nap in the sun. That is what I do every morning, I wake Aunt Chris up to let me out on the porch. Then I scratch on the door to come in when I get hot. Then I come in, drink some water, cool down, then I go back out. I do this no less than 3 times between 7am and 10am. 10ish is when it’s time to get my Kristen up b/c by this time I have to pee-pee. I wake her up by taking a flying leap on her bed, then I sty there and make little barks. When she finally gets up and does her pee-pee we go for a nice walk. If she would only save her pee-pee for our walk she would waste far less time sitting in that pee-pee room. Anywoof, that is my morning vacation routine.
Usually we just hang out all day, play wif the hose, relax in the yard, go in the car, go to the doggie store & to the dog park. Buuuut, we didn’t do so much of that b/c we got a giant blow up pool! Yup, it is so big that my feets don’t touch the bottom. Soooooo, I learned how to swim! Uhh huh, yes yes this little Yorkie can swim! K insisted that I wear a little yellow life vest to keep me safe, but as soon as she lowered me into the water I was a dog paddling fool! The first day I was not sure what to do about my nose and the water and breathing and all, but by the second day I was a lot better and didn’t swallow so much water. On the third swimming day I was even swimming the length of the pool to retrieve toys and bring them all the way back - wif not life jacket I must woof! How neat is that? I am a retrievin’ swimin’ Yorkie! I must admit I am a very loud swimmer. I bark bark bark the minute I get out of the pool. I bark and paw at the water constantly and even barked myself hoarse a few times, but it was lots of fun!
But ya know what is even more fun that the pool???? THE BEACH!!!! I wuuuuuv the beach! Since our beach lost its lifeguards so early K was able to take me a few days and we had a blast! I was not even skeered of the big water this year. I scampered in like a champ! I even got hit wif a little wave and just shook it off and tried to go deeper. K would only let me go leg high though which is about 8 inches - BOL! K got me an extra long Flexi so I could run more, and dog did I run! I never been running like that in my life. I was flying all over the beach! I was chasing sea birdies, and chasing my red ball, and chasing the water, and chasing my K all over. I stopped sometimes to nose Unkee Sal’s bag for treats and water b/c all that chasing makes you munchy, but after that I was back to runnin’! I wuv digging in the sand too, and rolling in it, and sniffin it - there are lots of good sniffs in the sand ya know! The only bad thing about the beach is that when I get home I have to get the dreaded b-a-t-h. Can you believe I had 4 b-a-t-h-s in one week??? That is just craziness! K says that I carry home a pound of sand in my fur, but it didn’t bofver me one bit. Actually, I am on anover mini vacation right now (we went home for a week after the 2 week vacation) and am gong to get to go to the beach prolly 3 more times this week! WOO HOO! Until the bath that is - BOL! It would have been 5 but it rained a few days so I couldn’t go. Tomorrow I am definitely going though!
I sure do wuv this vacation stuff!
