I finally have a forever home!

Hooray! It finally happened! I have a forever home! Tonight I got a new mama and daddy and even a brother and sister! I am so happy! It's been a long road but I am so grateful for all the blessings that have been bestowed on me. It was in March of 2008 when someone decided to take a chance on me and pulled me from the shelter. I was in sad shape but the folks at K9 New Life found me a loving foster home and some great doctors to look after me. Now I am happy and healthy AND I have a loving new home. Doesn't get much better than that! My new family had a kennel and a soft comfy bed waiting for me along with some cool toys to play with. Toys that I don't have to share with Charley! I have a nice back yard to play in, too. And I am officially a Hokie Fan. I don't know what that means but since my new family members are fans, that's good enough for me!

Yep, I think I'm gonna like it here just fine!

Suddenly, I am in Demand!

Wow! I have been with FM & FD for a long time; over a year now. They keep telling me that they will find me a forever home. But I don't mind - I like it here just fine and will stay as long as it takes. For some reason, there just hasn't been much interest in me.

But this week was different. FM got four inquiries on me within a few days of each other! Wow! I never had that much attention before! One man FM knows personally but he and his son have just begun their search for the 'right dog'. But we went to meet 2 of the families this weekend and they both loved me! How cool is that?

FM liked both families. But she is having a hard time determining which one would be best for me. She hopes the rescue doesn't make her choose. It will be a very tough decision. And I am counting on her and the rescue to make the best choice.

Stay tuned...

We've been busy!

Foster Mom and me have been really busy lately. She's been taking me for rides in the car and to the dog park so I can meet other dogs. We've also been going to an agility class at Family Dog Club. It's totally cool! I have had the best time! Foster Mom wasn't sure how I'd do but I had so much fun at their open house, she signed me up for a class. I think I surprised FM - she wasn't sure I'd do some of the things they asked but I pretty much did everything they asked me to! Especially when a treat was involved! FM got me some special treats that we only get at class or when we're practicing at home. They are SO good and I don't have to share them with Charley & Hank (my foster brothers). I did share them with my buddy, Elvis at class though. (He's a K9NL dog, too and I hope I find as great a forever home as he did!)

My favorite things are the A-frame and the dog walks. I still don't understand the weave poles but I guess I'll get the hang of it sooner or later. FM says we need to practice more. She says I probably won't win any trials but that I'm having a great time and getting some much needed exercise and that's all that matters.

Today we had our Christmas party and we played games and I got to show Foster Dad all that I had learned. We had a great time! We played lots of games both individually and with other dogs. FM even crawled through the dog tunnel with me! (that was a little weird; she's kinda slow) I won some prizes and even earned a ribbon! Then FM ate a dog biscuit. That was very weird and I'm sorta worried about her. I must remember to talk to Foster Dad about her. But right now I am pooped so I think I'm gonna hit the sack. FM said I'd sleep good tonight. Heck, I sleep good every night since I got rescued.

Holy Cow! That must have been SOME party!

Foster Mom took me for a ride in the car this morning. At first I thought she was taking me to work with her but then I figured it out. We were going to the vet to see Dr. Key and Dr. Thompson. Cool! I love them. What happened after I got there is still a little fuzzy. I remember them wanting me to get on the scale so they could weigh me but I didn't wanna so they picked me up and put me there. I now weigh in at 52 lbs. Foster Mom says I'm not fat, just barrel chested; kinda like a football player. She calls me 'Barney Rubble' sometimes but I don't know why. Who's he?

Anyway, I don't remember much after that. I know they shaved my leg for an IV but that's it. All I know is that I woke up with A LAMPSHADE ON MY HEAD! And I'm missing some of my 'parts'. Some of my 'boy parts' to be exact. Dang. What kind of party did Foster Mom bring me to? If this isn't a good reason to just say 'no' to drugs, I don't know what is!!!!

I'm gonna stay put for a few days. I still feel kind of funny and don't have much of an appetite. Besides, I don't want the neighbors to see me with this dumb lampshade on my head. The doctor told Foster Mom to leave it on and for some reason, Foster Mom does what the doctor says, not what I say. One thing is for sure, when I get my wits back about me, I'm gonna launch an investigation into what happened to my 'parts'.

Sick? I'm not sick! I feel great!

Well, it's been 2 weeks since I had my heartworm treatments. I feel pretty good and my fur is growing back where they shaved me (injection sites). Foster Mom says I am still pretty sick and have to take it easy for at least 2 more weeks. What? Why? I'm not sick! In fact, I feel better than I have in a long, long time! I don't get these humans sometimes.

The vet said that there are no heartworm larvae, just some nasty adult worms. But one is enough to do damage so they're erring on the side of caution. (Have I mentioned that I have some terrific vets looking after me? Dr. Thompson and Dr. Key at Bay Beach Veterinary Hospital totally rock!) I have to go back in October to get my blood checked again. In the meantime, I have to take it easy and limit my activity for another couple of weeks. I'm not too happy about that right now but I'm doing it anyway. Besides, it's been pretty darn hot outside and I like it better inside with the A/C and fans. I especially like the cool tile floor in the kitchen. And since the kitchen is where they keep the treats...
