Arrival Story: My American Eskimo of blessed 14 years passed away & I thought I would not get a dog for a while. I went to Vegas to think on it. When I came back home to an empty house with no pitter patter of a dog walking around & panting, I knew something was missing. It took 2 weeks for me to go to different shelters to look for a dog. I knew I didn't want a puppy. I was actually looking for a pitbull. About the 4th or 5th visit, I saw Sadie (then known as "Rachel") in a kennel with another dog. Sadie was the quiet one sitting down. A lot of the other dogs were barking including her roommate. When I came back for another visit with a guy friend, I wanted to see if Sadie was male aggressive or not & I told her to sit & she did. She was rather skittish, but well behaved & quiet. I wanted a quiet dog, since the American Eskimo was quite a barker with her high pitched bark, which I didn't miss. I knew I would take her home when I saw her in a kennel with another dog & she was so well behaved compared to her roommate. I did not fall in love with her at 1st sight, but now I couldn't think of any other dog than having my real Slim Sadie.

Bio: The shelter said she was a shepherd mix, but I look at her & pictures of other kelpies, I think she is a kelpie. Other kelpie owners I have met confirm it with me, due to her heeling, stance, gait & speed.
