Arrival Story:
It was the fall of 2000.I was about a year into working as the rescue representative for the Jack Russell Terrier Club of America in Michigan when I met 5 year old Rosie. She had been purchased as a puppy at a horse show, and when the young owner moved on, she got pawned off on the parents...you know the story. Anyhow, they called me because she was always running away and they had to pay a hundred dollars to bail her out of the pound and get her a license etc. She would not stop peeing in the house, so she was tied to a tree. At the time she was simply known as Rose. I added the Ramblin' based on her runner status and a song I love by the Grateful Dead. I brought her home to the farm, and immediately gave her her freedom to prove I trusted her. Off she went, straight into the cornfield across the street! I was really worried, thinking, great I just lost a rescue dog. My Chesapeake bay cross went and retrieved her for me, and although she did not stay home after that, her circle got smaller and smaller as she learned that it was a great place to live. Rosie would not let me adopt her out. She went to a nice home in an upscale neighborhood and was awful till they brought her back. After that, whenever a car she did not recognize pulled in, she would split! A couple of people tried to come see her, and all I could do was point off into the fields and say, "see?? there she goes?". If they were lucky they caught a glimpse of her darting around hunting out there. We finally figured out she was ours. She is the only dog I have ever owned that I will leave outside when I am gone. I totally trust her to stay home and watch the farm. Lots of times I pull in after a long day at work, and there she is, sleeping on the driveway. She will hear my car and jump up and run to the walnut tree acting like she has a squirrel up there and has been working the whole time!!! She is a stitch!

Bio:
Rosie smiles upon command, and has her own little song that makes her very happy to hear and causes her to roll over on her back with her little legs straight up! She has 2 "Lairs" in our home. One is under a stool in my clothes closet, and the other is in her crate, which is never locked. Rosie is ALWAYS in one of her lairs if she is in the house, unless we are eating. She has to rest up for her work you know. About 3 years ago, Rosie lost an eye hunting. It has not slowed her down, and I will update with a new picture of our one eyed jack!
