Our little princess passed away peacefully yesterday.
Maia loved us unconditionally for nearly 15 years and we are very thankful that we were able to share our lives with such a gentle soul.
Our lives will never be the same and we will never forget her. Ever.
Thank you for taking care of us, little girl. Your Mommy and I will always love you.

Thanksgiving 2009

Whew. What a hectic day at home on Thanksgiving. All I wanted to do was sleep... but Mom & Dad were busy cleaning the house, re-arranging the furniture and cooking up lots of good smelling stuff that I didn't get to taste.
My cousin, Mariah, came over too. That was nice. That bothersome feline who shares our house pestered her all day... but she held her own.
Luckily, I spent most of the day in Nonno's (Grandpa's) lap. He seemed to like to sit in one place and take naps just like me. You people think we are so different than you... but I think we all like a nice quiet day with a lot of naps thrown in.
They tell me that next month I will be 13 years old. I don't know where the time went. Seems like just the other day that I got here... and I still haven't been able to train these people to do what I want when I want.
Oh well... I hope I have another 13 years to train them. :^)

It's hell getting old.
The world around me has been getting pretty hazy recently. I find it harder and harder to see where Mom & Dad are. At first, all I had to do was follow the sounds. But now... I am betrayed by my failing ears.
I had to make a trip to the vet yesterday because I sprained my leg (again) on Thursday night (stupid slippery floor in the kitchen!) and the vet says I have lost 95% of my sight and 75% of my hearing.
Sometimes I am glad that my hearing is going... my naps are MUCH longer since I can't hear the tv, phone or doorbell.
The downside to losing my hearing and sight... that evil cat that lives with us can now sneak up on me with ease.
Luckily, Mom & Dad take extra-good care of me. They don't rearrange the furniture, they protect me from the demon cat and they don't get mad when I have my peepee accidents (which seems to happen a lot more nowadays).
The vet says that all my years of being on prednisone may be catching up to me. I think Mom & Dad know and understand that, too. Maybe that's why they don't blame me for what's going on.
Oh... it's not all bleak. I'm still very spoiled and I still enjoy a romp in the yard every once in a while. I still like snuggling up with Mom on the couch and sleeping. I still love me some Scooby Snacks! I still like sitting on Dad's lap while he's at the computer (like right now) and taking sips from his drink.
Well... all this talking has taken a lot out of me. I think it might be time for another nap!
