I have given birth to my first litter of puppies. I had six girls and three boys. These pups are special. One day they will grow up and have the chance to become guide dogs! My family is just bursting with pride at what I have accomplished. My pups Dad is named Stanton. The pups names are Jean, Jay, Janine, Jillian, Joanna, Joelle, Jared, Jed, Joyce. All are doing well and I love them very much.

I am officially named a GEB Brood!

My family got the greatest news last night. I have been officially named a brood for GEB. I will be carefully bred and continue the lines of exceptional guide dogs. Only the cream of the crop are chosen after careful evaluation. If all goes well, my family will get to raise one of my puppies once I am bred and deliver!

I did it!! :)

I am now back at Guiding Eyes For The Blind. I left my puppy raising family on June 27th. There were lots of hugs, and well wishes and many tears when I left.

I had my IFT (In For Training Test) on June 30th and I aced it! I did a very nice job, very calm and did everything I was supposed to do.
The folks at GEB really like me, so much that they are evaluating me to be a breeding dog! Only the cream of the crop are even considered for this. I will have lots more testing to go through. If it works out, I will have "little babes" who will go on to one day perhaps be future guide dogs. If I am not meant to be a breeder, I will go on to guide training. Either way, I am one special girl!

Right now I am living in the CDC (Canine Development Center). I have lots of fun things to do each day and am very happy. I will keep you posted!

Love, Babe

On June 27 th 2009, I am leaving my family and returning back to Guiding Eyes For The Blind for my formal guide dog training. My family will miss me so very much but this is what I was born to do. I am going to try my hardest to be able to graduate and assist a visually impaired graduate. I am a lucky dog to be able to give someone the gift of independence!

I have made many wonderful friends here on Dogster.

Love, Babe

Mom shared some great news with me and Gomez. We're getting a new fur baby! Come Nov., Mom will be raising a second GEB pup along with me. Our baby should be born next week. How exciting is that! Mom says I can still keep my Queen Babe status. Stay tuned for puppy news.

I am a smartie pants, or at least my Mom tells me so!

I am getting so smart. I know so many commands, and I do them because I want to, not because someone makes me! I can do the easy stuff, like sit, down, stand, and stay, heel, come. I can do chill and settle. Where I flip to my side, then put my head right down on the floor. I can do fragambae which means turn and get between Mom's legs while she is sitting, and lie down facing forward out from under the chair. That is an important one so if I would ride on public transportation with my blind partner, I won't get stepped on! Mom is starting to teach me to present one of my legs by which ever one she asks for. And I know go place. I run to where my bed is no matter where Mom puts it. Some of these things aren't mandatory to be a guide dog, but they sure are fun, and make me a better dog for knowing them. Mom calls me "brilliant" and a "genius"! Mom said she will ask Sister if she will take pictures of me doing my cool moves and she will then post them on Dogster.

A Babe's life

I have been one busy Babe! I get to go on lots of exposures because I am a guide dog puppy in pre-training. I get to go most places Mom goes and I get to see lots of cool things. I love to meet people. Monday is my puppy class. I had so much fun there last week. There was an obstacle course, and then after I got to play with three other pups in pre-training. Two of them were big boys that were one year old! We all played nice together, but I sure got tired out. My favorite thing to do with Mom is play follow me. Even if Mom hides, I always find her because I love her so much! When I find her, she makes a big fuss, and kisses me all up. I say "just give me some kibble instead of that silly kissing all the time!". I am happy that I keep Mom so busy, then she doesn't have time to miss Island too much!

I don't know how she did it, but just after one week of guide dog training, my sister Island can print!
She sent Mom a postcard. Mom got all excited and weepy.

You can read all about it on Island's page.

I miss my big sister a whole bunch, but can't help but be excited to see her learning all this cool stuff!

For our friend MICA

Help a good friend of ours. It's so easy!
Would you like to help? If so, it couldn't be simpler!
Our good friend Angel Mica died of a horrible blood disease called IMHA. Even though MICA is now an Angel, her legacy lives on.

IMHA stands for Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia.

This disease may not be well known, but it is the LEADING BLOOD DISEASE in both dogs and cats . We are trying to get the word out about this to help others. So, PLEASE, help if you can. Something so simple as clicking your mouse, may help another pet not to have to suffer like MICA did.

Here’s how easy it is to help:
You can become a Dogster Pal and corral MICA and her pack.

MICA http://www.dogster.com/dogs/504880

MIRRA http://www.dogster.com/dogs/581776

TPGOO http://www.dogster.com/dogs/718265

MICA MUST be corralled for a donation to stick.

If someone chooses Mirra, or The Purple Girls Of Oregon (TPGOO) without Mica, it won’t count. (SO no matter what, make sure you corral MICA!) With each new corral Mica’s IMHA Research Fund gets a small donation. A bonus comes if Mirra and TPGOO are also selected.

There are Woofdays coming up which makes your click even better! Mica’s on 10 May, would be her 11th. Mirra’s very 1st comes 30 May, 2008. This is where it gets even more special!

The tally of the number of corrals MICA has on 31 May 2008, after Mirra's Woofday, means A DOLLAR for EVERY CORRAL! so if the total, for example is 1000 corrals, then MICA'S IMHA FUND gets 1000 dollars. These donations will be from the same kindhearted GSD who raced her last fall for the cause. It was a close race and Mica lost but was sooooooo close to winning. This Special GSD & his owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, believes so much in Mica's cause, IMHA research & K9 Blood donations too. It is close to their hearts as he lost his K9 Partner to this disease.

Thank You!
Please pawmail Mica if you are interested in making a donation to this cause. Mica's Mom is a great woman, and is tirelessly fighting for a cure!
