It was end of November, and I was in the streets, still a puppy of about 6 months. I don't know how it happened, I don't remember and I don't want to remember, all I know is the car hit me, and the driver, that insensitive coward, ran away.
There was blood all around me, my back right paw wasn't moving, and the pain was unbearable. A lady arrived, I never knew her name, but I will remember her forever because she saved my life, thank you with all my heart!
She put me in her car and took me to the vets, blood was still coming out from my paw. Rushed to surgery, there was nothing vets could do to save some fingers of my back paw, the hit had destroyed them, only one finger could be saved.
I woke up, my fingers were not there anymore, the pain was still there but less intense, and for the first time in my life I felt safe somewhere. Many many days passed, and my paw was slowly healing, I had some problems at walking, I just had to get used to live without those fingers, not easy at all.
After almost two months, I had become the most spoiled dog at the vets. They were looking for a home for me, but it seemed no one was looking for a doggie like me, those missing fingers were not helping at all.
One morning a lady and a man arrived to visit another doggie at the vets hospital, and one of the vets told the lady they needed help for finding me a home. She looked at me, and I saw she couldn't stop smiling at me. Knowing my stuff, I wagged my tail, and the smile was bigger, her hand touched my head, she said I was cute, and whispered to me "I'll take you home with me, promessed!".
The lady came every day since then to visit the other doggie (my actual sister Rosy) and me, and always was giving me a bone or a cookie, and always telling me she was going to take me home with her as soon as my paw would been totally healed.
Then one day she arrived, put me a collar and a leash and walked me out from the vets until the car. I was so afraid that I almost bit her on her leg, she noticed it but never told me a word, she understood me and I'm grateful for it.
Finally I had found a home!!! And a mom, a dad, a brother, two sisters, and a canine pack of 4!!! When we arrived my heart stopped. A young girl was looking at me, and it was love at first sight. Her name was Irene and she was one of my human new sisters. She asked mom if I had a name, no, she hasn't, mom answered, can we call her Sissi?, said Irene. Great, I had also a name! Sissi the Empress, wow, me an Empress!!!
Mom bought a bed for me, but I prefer Irene's bed, much much confortable, I sleep there every night since that day, and my missing fingers don't stop me from runing, playing and being very very naughty (my specialty are shoes).
I'm now one of the happiest dogs mom ever knew, my tail is always wagging, and I'm kissed about 1000 times a day (my mom loves my nose!), I'm really Sissi the Empress of my house!!!
