As of February 16, 2009, my beautiful, sweet, loyal baby clown has passed on. He lived 16 wonderful years by my side and I will miss him with my whole heart. Pugsley was a lover, not a fighter and adored everyone...even cats :) He always had a smile on his face and did everything he could to make you laugh. He is, without a doubt, one of the most special puppies I've ever known. I love you Puglsey...you will always be in my heart.

Just Call Me Lassie

I had important information for Mommy this morning, but she just did not seem to understand. During my normal morning patrol to ensure the security of the house (inside, of course), I noticed smoke rising from the street while I looked out the window. Smoke is serious business - as any dog worth his kibble knows. Mommy was using that noisy blowing machine on her hair so I stood sentry at the window and sounded the alarm. I didn't think Mom would EVER come, but I guess she finally heard me over the noise of that machine and came to see what was up.

She kept looking out the window and claiming there was no one there. What is wrong with her?? I didn't say anything about anyone outside...I CLEARLY said "Danger! Danger! Smoke! Smoke!" After having to repeat myself over and over and over (for like 15 minutes) Mommy FINALLY understood.

But do you think she got the urgency of the situation? Noooo-ooooo. Once again, she just started talking nonsense. Something ridiculous about steam rising off of warm water leaking from a water pipe and because it was cold outside...oh, I don't know. Thank goodness she has me taking care of things around here. She's obviously a few cards short of a deck.

Chicken Bushes DO Exist!!

There is something wrong with my mommy. Seriously...I've been dreaming of finding the elusive Chicken Bush for years. The other day, we were taking our evening constitutional as usual when something miraculous happened. I sensed a Chicken Bush in proximity. I stopped. Stuck my head into the bush next to me. There, gleaming in the moonlight, hanging inside the bush, was a perfectly grilled boneless chicken breast. I could not believe my eyes!! Not only was it CHICKEN, it was boneless, therefore mommy wouldn't say "Put that down! No Chicken Bones!!".

It seemed like an eternity that I gazed lovingly at this beautiful piece of meat...I'm sure it was only a fraction of a nanosecond (so mommy tells me).

I pulled the prize from the miraculous Chicken Bush, my heart full of joy, when mommy screamed "PUT THAT DOWN!"

WHAAA-at? Is she nuts??? Since I love my (crazy) mommy, I did what she asked, but I'm tellin' ya, I think that woman fell and hit her head.

I did it!

I finally caught a 'dillo!

I was walking down the path and the little bugger didn't hear me until I was right next to him. I jumped on him before he knew what hit him. What a thrill!!

But then....I really didn't know what to do with him. He kinda smelled bad. I let him go. 'Course, Mommy was yelling at me so that kinda took some of the fun out of it.

I think I'll just stick to chasing them unless I can figure out what to do with them.

I think I succeeded in driving Mommy crazy.

I decided to stop walking on one of my legs. Just hopped on 3 legs. Mom started rubbing, kneading, poking, stretching every inch of my leg and foot. Felt so good! She would do that for awhile and then go do something else, and then come back and start all over again. She even popped up from a sound sleep to check my 'bum' leg. (I think I'm the only 'bum' around here - except maybe for the cat.)

Anyway, hopped around for 2 days and then suddenly started walking on all 4. It wasn't a conscious decision - I just forgot. A few days later I tried it again. She checked my leg one more time but then kinda stopped paying so much attention to it. I just figured I'd walk normal again. That was kinda wearin me out hopping around on 3 legs all the time.

Miraculous Squirrel Recovery? Or Alien Abduction!

I found a squirrel yesterday on my walk. Poor thing was lying on its side...I thought it was dead at first but he blinked. Mommy kind of freaked and told me to get away. She was muttering some nonsense about rabies.

We watched the squirrel for a bit and other than blinking every once in awhile and breathing, he didn't move. He looked pretty healthy - fat little thing actually - so Mommy and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. We left him alone - Mommy said it was impossible for us to pick him up and take him in the house like I wanted.

A little later we went back out to check on the little guy. Amazingly he had vanished! Mom says perhaps he had fallen out of tree and got the breath knocked out of him or something, but I know the truth. Aliens. That's all I'm gonna say.

9/10/04 - 'Dillos!

I found another armadillo this morning near the bayou. I think I could have caught it if I hadn't had to step in the wet leaves. As much as I want to catch one of those 'dillos, I'm not ABOUT to get my toes wet. I'll just keep walking on the path - one of these days that 'dillo will need to get to the other side. I'll be waiting......
