Goodbye and Good Luck Flash!

Today was usual, until a big car pulled up out the front with a trailer attached to it. IT WAS THE DOG WASHER!!! I ran and hid down the back of the yard. Mummy's mummy grabbed Flash and took her out the front to the van. I was so scared I was next I didn't leave my hiding spot.

I heard the van leave and ran to bark at it. I watched it leave, then my peoples' car left too, with Flash.

It was a while before I heard the car again. I waited, mummy came out. She seemed upset. She gave me a big hello and a pat. Then she walked down the back of the yard and we played with my chicken toy. Then she seemed to get upset again. She sat down on the ground and sat me on her lap. She gave me a cuddle and talked to me. Apparently she was upset because they had finally taken Flash to the AWL, to surrender her. After a while I got bored and started squirming for that chicken toy. I'm OBSESSED with that chicken toy! She realised this and picked it up and played with me a while longer. Then she said she was hot and went back inside.

I slept most the rest of the day.

A New Puppy!

Today was a usual day, until this afternoon. Mummy's mummy came and got me and let me out the front yard. Mummy and her brother were there WITH A PUPPY! I came and sniffed it warily, as puppies usually jump in my face which I don't like, so I snap at them. I approached her and she didn't jump at all, she was good. She was half the size of me, and called 'Eve'. Once we had gotten to know each other she kept running to me playfully. I love a good play so I played with her, but I was too rough for her so she gave in. Then I lost interest and started wandering off, so mummy put me in. A while later they were all on the veranda, but I'm not allowed up there, so I sat at the gate, which is what I usually do anyway. Then the people went back in and I sat at the gate still and watched Eve a little (she was in her pen). As usual I fell asleep at the gate to the veranda. I hope I get to meet this puppy more!

Christmas Lighting (and a Visit From a Friend)

This afternoon a car pulled up out the front, naturally I barked at it. Then I recognised who got out of the car, it was Tannille and Sammy! Tannille brought Sammy around the back and then she left the yard (I later saw she was inside with mummy). Sammy and I began to play. It had been so long since I last saw him (before he moved away) and we were ecstatic to see each other. We played for ages, and then mummy and Tannille came out. Sammy and I continued to play whilst mummy and Tannille talked (Flash hung around them).

Then mummy and Tannille grabbed our leashes and we went for a walk (without Flash, as usual). We walked to Maddy's, but she wasn't there, so we walked to the park. It was just like we used to before Tannille and Sammy moved. We stay there for a while under the pergola (I sat on mummy's lap) because Sammy wasn't allowed onto the mulch and dirt because he had just been washed. After a little while we left for home. On the way we saw a weird thing. It was fluffy (like real fur) and gucky and, according to mummy's brother, hard in the centre. Mummy, Tannille and Cameron poked at it with a pencil they found on the ground. It had no face or limbs, and there was no blood on it, so mummy concluded (and hoped) that it was probably just a pile of fur clipped from someone's pet that was stuck together with something sticky that had hardened. Then, temptation got the better of me; I ran in and grabbed it. Mummy freaked! She tried telling me to drop it but I wouldn't, so Tannille used the pencil to try and get it out of my mouth, but I wasn't letting that thing go. Eventually mummy gave up and figured I'd drop it along the way. After a while, I still had in proudly in my mouth, so mummy tried one last time. She said 'tah' and pointed at the ground, just like when we play fetch. She seemed very dominant, so I dropped it. When I did she tugged me away from it and told me 'good girl!' and gave me and good scratch behind the ears. Then we kept walking home.

When we got home mummy was grossed out by the fact that I might lick her after having that thing in my mouth, so she got out the toothbrush and brushing powder, and brushed my teeth. ICK! Then, she clipped my nails! I put up my usual fight and got Tannille good with my teeth, and mummy good with my nails. Then Sammy had his teeth brushed (he put up an even bigger fight than I did, BOL). Then, out came the SHAMPOO! I reluctantly endured a bath, towel dry, then air dry via the air-conditioning unit (it blows out hot air). Sammy just napped the whole time. Then, mummy pulled out the christmas costumes. Sammy wore Gina's old santa costume and hat, and I wore my 'santa paws' top and my christmas hat and scarf (see my pictures). Sammy's costume was too big for him, although the hat fit perfectly, and I had become too 'fat' for my shirt (it was very stretched, but I wore it anyway). Then mummy, Tannille, Sammy, mummy's brother and I stood out the front. Suddenly a car stopped right in front of us. Mummy and Tannille were trying to see if it was anyone they knew. Two women, a baby, and a little girl got out (none of us knew any of them). It turns out they saw Sammy and I as they were driving around looking at christmas lights and had to stop and pat us. I enjoyed a pat while Sammy (the favourite with strangers) got all protective and growled at them! It was really weird and out of the blue for Sammy, he stopped once Tannille told him off though, but then the people were too scared to go near him (more for me I guess). They thanked mummy and Tannille and left.

Before long mummy's mummy came out and we began to go for a walk! We walked all the way out of the estate, crossed the road, walked up the road a bit, and into the other estate. We were walking pretty fast, but still took the time to look at some christmas lights along the way. Suddenly, in the (not so far) distance I saw a HUGE house completely covered in lights! Out the front there was a blow up santa taller then their two story house, and a truck covered in lights (the same truck that came around and stopped in front of our house last christmas)! We walked to the house, and there were heaps of people there. As we walked through the crowd we got stopped a heap of times by children wanting to pat me and Sammy. I loved all the attention, Sammy was a bit overwhelmed, but endured it. Mummy's mummy came back with free hotdogs! Tannille didn't want her sausage so she gave it to Sammy, but he didn't want it so I got it! I also got a few scraps from mummy, her mummy, and her brother. Then, mummy's mummy left for a moment and came back with another hotdog, for ME! I ate it all with pleasure. Then we went for a short walk to the other side of the house so mummy and Tannille could get a good look at the lights. It took us ages because we got stopped constantly for pats, pictures, and even videoing. As we walked through the crowd I noticed there were bits of sausages and even whole sausages on the ground so I ate up! Santa was driving the truck and had gotten out to hand out candy canes, so we walked up to him to get some. When we did he said what most others had said when they saw Sammy and I, 'Santa dogs!'. He and his elf said we were very cute. I started to get a bit overwhelmed by all the pats, but endured it, just like Sammy (still the favourite among strangers). After a while there we left for a walk through the rest of the estate, then home, stopping at lots of houses and going up many cul de sacs along the way. We got beeped at by passers by and patted by residents. The whole thing was so much fun! We eventually got home (quite late). I got put back in the yard and, mummy, mummy's brother, and mummy's mummy drove Tannille and Sammy home. They were both very tired (as well as the rest of us) and from what I hear Sammy fell asleep after just a couple of minutes in the car. I had my dinner and fell straight asleep, dreaming of what tomorrow might bring.

A Terrifying Ordeal

I was out on my usual, daily walk with mummy, Tannille, and Sammy. When we got to the house with the big German Shepherd, as usual, it ran to the fence and barked at us furiously. As usual I began to bark back, warning her to stay away from my pack. Flash begins pulling and jumping around, just like every other day, because she wants to go and greet the German Shepherd. Then she begins attacking me out of frustration. Unfortunately she's been doing this every day for the past few months. Its started off with her just snapping at me and has gotten progressively worse ever since. Today was the worst yet, she began trying to bite me, however because she was wearing her muzzle she couldn't bite me, but the wire of the muzzle was smashing against my face and body. Flash also began hitting me very hard with her front paws. I couldn't fight back, she dwarfed me. Mummy was almost as terrified as I was. She was too scared to get close but still tried everything she could to help me. She tried kicking Flash in the butt (she was wearing thongs so it did very little), slapping Flash, yelling, trying to pull us apart by our leads (which didn't work because mum had both the leads so could only pull them as far apart as her arms would go, not to mention her having to battle Flash's strength). Nothing she tried worked! Suddenly Tannille realised what trouble mummy was having and she dropped Sammy's leash (Sammy is a good boy and stayed put) and ran over to help. She grabbed my leash from mummy's hand and yanked me out of there. Flash began pulling on the leash to try and get to me but mummy held her back (with much difficulty). We quickly began walking home, mummy walked ahead of us, with Flash.

When we got home mummy put Flash back in the yard. She then immediately checked me over for any injuries. Apart from being traumatised, I was fine. We began our walk again, this time without Flash.

When we got back from our walk mummy told her aprents what happened. They told her she should consider giving Flash up, considering mummy can't handle her (and what happened today). That got mummy thinking, she loved Flash, but like her prents said, she just couldn't handle her. One thing was for sure, she wouldn't bve taking Flash out for a walk again. The attacks weren't the only thing, every time Flash saw a dog, cat, bird, person, etc while we were out on a walk she began to bark loudly ang lunge towards them, almost pulling mummy over. Flash would throw huge tantrums because mummy wouldn't let her go over to whatever she wanted to see, jumping around like a bucking horse. She even tried to bite mummy once in one of her tantrums. Mummy decided to give herself a while longer to think about it.

(A few weeks later mummy decided her parents were right, it would be best for her to give Flash up)

My Birthday!

As I was dozing happily in the sun when mummy came around with Tannille. Oh no, bath-time again! They bathed me, then Flash. Then mummy came around with a big bag of stuff and rushed us around the front. There was a big ute out the front. It was mummy's friend, Rhiana. They loaded Flash into the back of the ute with the bag of stuff. then got in the car. I got to sit on mummy's lap. I was so excited about what was going on and what going to happen I couldn't sit still!

Suddenly I saw where we were. THE DOG PARK! Mummy took us out of the car and her, Rhiana, Flash and I went into the park. Mummy let me have a little play while she went into the enclosed section and Rhiana watched us. Then Rhiana got us back on the leashes and let us go in the enclosed area, with mummy. Tannille and Sammy showed up and Sammy and I immediately began playing. They were putting up a banner, balloons, and decorations. Then mummy's mummy and brother, Cameron showed up with chips. Flash, Sammy and I sat around them with our best sooky faces hoping for some chips. We got some of mummy's scraps.

Then when mummy's other friend, Jordan, showed up with her dog, Oscar, a big black lab. The party could now BEGIN! We had a good greet'n'sniff before a big game of chase and wrestling.

Then it was time for the COSTUME COMPETITION! Mummy had made me a bunny costume out of pink, fluffy material. She had bought Flash a kid's fairy dress-up set, with wings, a tootoo, and a flower. Sammy was a pegasus. Tannille had died a strip down Sammy's back, his paws, and his tail blue. She had put a set of children's angel wings on his back. Oscar didn't get dressed up coz he tried to bite Jordan when she tried to put a bandana on him. We walked the 'dog-walk' and then everyone voted. Sammy won! He chose a tennis ball as his prize. We went back to playing.

Next it was time for PERSON-TO-PUP! Each person grabbed a dog and we all walked around in a circle until mummy's mummy called out a person's body part (eg. toe) then a dog body part (eg. nose) and we'd have to touch the two parts together. Last pair to do it was out. We played that for a while until mummy and Flash won. Flash got a rawhide bar as her prize.

It was now time for the BEST TRICK CONTEST! I did my tricks flawlessly. Oscar took some coaxing but eventually got it. Flash doesn't know many tricks so mummy thought up a special trick for her. Mummy filled a bucket with water and dropped a treat in it. Flash immediately dove after it. She had her whole head up to her eyes in there. Bubbles where going EVERYWHERE! All the people found it hilarious. She couldn't reach the treat though so mummy grabbed it out for her. Next it was Sammy's go. He wouldn't do a single trick. He just turned his head away from Tannille, who was very unhappy as they had practiced for weeks and he had done it perfectly at home. No one could stop laughing. Then everyone voted and Oscar was the winner. He chose a rawhide bar as his prize. I wasn't happy, I should have won because I had the best tricks.

Then it was time for the RELAY RACE. We got into two teams and used toys as batons. We had to run from one side of the enclosure to the other with a person, then pass on the baton to our other team mates who then had to run back to the other side of the enclosure. When it came to Oscar's turn he refused to move, so Sammy and I won! I chose a rawhide as my prize and Sammy chose a ball.

We were now onto the final game, FIND THE CHICKEN! We had to pair up with a person and go to the corner of the enclosure and the people had to close their eyes. Mummy's mummy then placed little fake chicken around the place, one less than the number of teams playing. When she said 'go' we had to all race around and try find a chicken. When we found one our person had to sit on it and hug their dog partner. Whoever didn't find a chicken was out and another chicken was removed. In the second round when mummy found a chicken, sat down and hugged Flash, Flash put her paws on mummy's shoulders. Mummy fell backwards and Flash was left standing over her with her front legs on mummy's chest. Mummy was laughing histerically and so was everyone else. Eventually it was down to Jordan and Oscar, and mummy and Flash. Oscar and Jordan won. It was so much fun. Oscar picked a ball as his prize this time.

It was now time for CAKE! Mummy's mummy had made me a vanilla cake with vanilla icing. Mummy had decorated it. Everyone sang happy birthday to me. It felt great to be the centre of attention. The cake was cut and everyone, even us dogs got a piece, or two.

The party was almost over now and so mummy decided it was time for us to go have fun with the other dogs at the park, outside the enclosure. Mummy had to keep Flash on a leash though because she just stood at the gate, waiting to get out. I ran an played with Oscar and some other dogs. Then Jordan and Oscar had to leave. Soon after so did Tannille and Sammy. Then Rhiana left. Then mummy's daddy arrived and mummy left with Cameron and her mummy. Mummy's daddy walked Flash and I home. I had a GREAT day!

Trip to the Dog Park

Today started out boring, nothing happening. At about lunch time Tannille came over and mummy left.

When they came back mummy put our gear on us and took us out the front. Then, Tannille came down with Sammy. Cameron, mummy, mummy's dad, Tannille, Sammy, Flash and I began walking. We walked the other way around the estate. We walked out of the estate, along the back paths to a road. Then along the road for ages. WE WERE WALKING FOR AGES! We passed lots of dogs in yards. Cameron walked me with his dad with us, Tannille, mummy, Flash and Sammy walked quite a bit behind us.

After about an hour of walking we reached a shop. The people grabbed some food and we all sat for a bit, then kept walking. We were'nt walking for long when i saw heaps of dogs together. IT WAS THE DOG PARK! Mummy, Tannille, Sammy and Flash crossed the road and got there before us. Then, when Cameron caught up, we crossed. Cameron kept me on the lead :( but when he came to greet mummy she let me off. I ran around and a dog snapped at me so mummy's dad picked me up and wouldn't let me down for ages. I began running around but not many of the dogs were very playful so Cameron played chasey with me. We stayed there for ages. Mummy picked me up and put me in this enclosed bit with Flash and Sammy. Sammy and I begun playing. Then, we got let out for one last run and went home.

The walk home was almost as long as the walk there. We went a different way this time, mummy's way, it was quicker. Cameron ended up staying at a friend's house instead. After ages of walking we made it home. Mummy, Flash and Tannille were exhausted. I was still hyper as ever though. Straight after dinner Flash and I fell fast asleep, it had been a long day.

Holiday! Day 8. Last day

Today we got loaded in the car and then began to drive.

We were in the car for ages! Then, we stopped at a place. Flash and I got let out for a walk and to relieve ourselves. The place was pull of animals! goats and chickens, geese and cows. WE WENT NUTS! We had to get to them so bad! Mummy held us back though and then quickly put us back in the car. She wound down all the windows and then sat on a seat by the car and ate lunch with her mummy and grandmummy. Mummy's mummy came walking back with some food on a plate. As she sat down she sat too far back. SHE FELL! She fell backwards and the food and plate went flying forwards. Luckily it landed on the table. The money in her hands went metres backwards and mummy and her grandmummy were in stitches of laughter! She got up and was fine. Then mummy came to the car to give us some water. We immediately started trying to get out. I couldn't reach, so I was stuck. We drank our water then just as mummy was pouring the leftovers back into the bottle Flash jumped out. Her leash got caught around her leg and pulled it upwards. Flash began YELPING AND YELPING! Quickly mummy ran over and lifted Flash up, untangling her leg. She checked Flashes leg to see if it was still hurt, it didn't seem to be. She put Flash back in the car and close it up. Then Flash managed to squeeze into the back seat. She sat there with her head out of the window. Mummy realised and rushed over. She put Flash back in the back and blocked the gap. Then, we left.

We were driving for ages again. Finally, we stopped. Once again we were let ouyt to walk around and relieve ourselves. We were there for a short while when we were reluctantly put back in and left again. This time though we left mummy's grandma behind. She must be staying there.

We drove and drove making a few stops along the way until finally we stopped again. This time, IT WAS HOME! We were finally home. We were let out and lead into the back yard. We ran around together happily the rest of the afternoon until it got dark and we fell fast asleep. We slept like babies after our long day.

Holiday! Day 7.

We have been at the coast for a few days now. It is nice here. The yard is good and we've even been let inside a few times.

Today we got loaded into the car and went for a drive. We went through the city, it was exciting. Then, we stopped at a place with lots of water.

We all got out and headed onto this place mummy called a 'beach'. The water moved so I was a little scared but Flash went in quite happily, so I followed. It was cold. I came out and shook off. Then we began walking along the beach. We saw another dog, off its leash. It was an old and fat Foxie. I wanted to play with it and so I started pulling and lunging. Flash noticed this and so started to do the same. Mummy was finding it hard to control her and then suddenly, OUCH, Flash's claw cut deep into mummy's foot. Mummy washed it off and handed Flash to her dad. We kept walking. Along the way we saw many other dogs, most of them off leash. Cameron tried to get me to go in again but the waves were bigger this time, and terrified me. I pulled back and ended up squirming out of my harness. FREEDOM! I began running around, then suddenly mummy grabbed me and put my harness back on :( We stopped for lunch on the beach, Cameron got bored and so ran up and down the beach with me. It was fun! Then we began walking back. We passed even more dogs off leash on the way and, as usual, I lunged to get to them, so did Flash. Then, suddenly, Flash got loose. SHE BOLTED! Luckily though, she ran straight towards a friendly dog playing in the water. They began playing and then mummy grabbed her leash, apologised and pulled her away. We finally got back to the car and I was exhausted. I jumped straight in! Once everyone else had gotten in we left the beach and headed back to the hotel.

Once we arrived Flash and I were put out the back and everyone else left again in the car. I spent the afternoon jumping on and playing with Flash and barking at birds and stuff.

Holiday! Day 1.

It has now been two weeks since Flash moved in. I am no longer afraid to play with her and we are getting along greatly!

This morning everyone was running around frantically. Mummy's granma stayed the night too. Then, we were brought out and put in the car. We were both very excited! The car began to start and we were off.

It was a long trip in the car to where ever we were going. I had to hop up on the armrest to avoid being trod on by Flash. Then, finally we stopped at a house. We all got out and Flash and I were put in the backyard of the house. Flash and I walked around checking it all out. The rest of the day we just played. Then, at night, we slept together on a futon on the back verandah of this place.

Flash, Home for Good

I spent all the morning today lazing around in the sun. Suddenly I was awoken by mummy and Tannille screaming! I came to the window and they were jumping up and down, but they didn't seem to be scared at all, they looked happy. I went back to sleep for a while. Then, a while later, I heard car doors and people talking out the front. I raced to the side gate and Flash was there, it turned out Flash had finally come here to stay! She came around the back and we played and she walked around as the people chatted. Then, Flash's ex-foster carer left.

After a little while we got ready for a walk. Tannille went up to get Sammy. We all met at the bottom of the hill and I greeted Sammy. Then, Sammy had to meet Flash. Flash's tail was wagging. They sniffed eachother and Sammy snapped at Flash just a bit. I think flash's muzzle poked him. They got along really well and so we continued our walk. Cameron walked me while mummy walked Flash.

Afterwards we all went 'round the back. Sammy and Flash began playing. I wanted to join in but was too afraid when Flash chased me, she is very big. Then Sammy and Tannille left and everyone else went inside. I was so tired I went straight to sleep.
