New Harness!

Mom scoured the interweb and found a different kind of harness to try! It is coming to New Jersey all the way from Australia!! These ladies, Kate & Lou-Ann, have a great website for it! Pass the word around and I will let you know my progress with it through video and my diary of course. Mom can not wait until it comes! As it turns out my Gentle Leader is hurting my jaw and made me stop eating crunchy food. After not having it on for seven days I am back to normal. Mom still has to put it on me to get me in and out of the campground on weekends but that is it. She has Lyme's disease and her knees get really sore and my pulling on a normal harness is not helping. :(

Check it out!!!

I forgot to mention I had a DNA test a few weeks ago. The results came back as Mostly Rottie and a little Collie and Standard Poodle!! We did the blood type test they do at the vet. "Wisdom Panel"

Mom loves knowing what I am and says it was definitely worth the money!!!

Training today....

Well Linda the Dog trainer came over again for another round. Mom was thinking I am a lost cause lately. Last week while waiting to see the vet a dog came through the door and I went into killer mode. Mom had me cornered and a good hold on me but I still scared the crap (literally) out of the dog and his owner. Well the owner did not poop but the dog dropped a poop right there! Mom was feeling so bad and did not even get a chance to apologize. How embarrassing for her. But I thought I had to protect her? Then last night we all went for a walk on a quiet trail and I barked the whole walk. I was really nervouse even after 2mg of xanex! Mom is going to talk to the vet about trying something else because these do nothing. Back to training, Linda said mom now has to change the tone. Instead of being sweet it is time to be the boss no matter what. So we worked on how to grab me when a car is coming and what to do when I start getting nervous. I did better! The cheese is a nice plus too. Mom never imagined having such a difficult dog. I am glad she loves me and will never give up. Dad on the other hand would have gave me back to the rescue. It is not that he doesn't love me it is that he has no patience. Thank god for MOM!!

Last night when mom and dad had my brother and sister out for a walk a big rottie girl jumped her fence and ran up to Emma. Dad almost had a heart attack! Mom stayed calm and the dogs mommy came running out to get her. Nothing happened, just the hair went up. Mom was amazed how scared dad got! They are really glad it did not happen when they were walking me because I would have started a fight. The rottie girl was just a pup her mom said. That would have been very very bad. Mom thought she was a beauty!! Dad thought she was "BIG". BOL

Mom took me to the vet this morning and Doc agreed that I need meds to control my nervousness. So mom is filling the prescription and I will get my first pill tonight! I did ok at the vet. When we first went in there were no other dogs waiting. But as soon as one came in I freaked out ans they brought me to the back room to run some blood tests. Guess what! Mom also ordered the DNA test to find out what my parents may have been!!! Mom will talk with Bernie the Rottie to start a guess what I am game!! Oh...that should be so much fun!! Mom has to measure how tall I am and take a bunch of photos for everyone to see me up close! Maybe even video!!

Well lets all keep our paws crossed and hope the meds work. I would love to just enjoy a walk with everyone and not be so worried.

I did GREAT! Linda da Dog Trainer said so! Well ok I am not perfect but I do work hard and have improved. Mom has been working hard with me everyday and Linda says it shows. We worked hard tonight. I went up and down the street while cars and bikes and people went by. I did freak out a couple times but I was also good too. The magic of the wonderful cheese. I have a vet appointment tomorrow to get some drugs for my anxiety. I am kind of backwards when it comes to being a dog. I feel very secure and friendly on my property even when other dogs and strange humans come over. But as soon as I am off my turf I am really nervous and act crazy. Sooo... mom wants to try some pills to even me out and the trainer said that is a great idea. So off to the vet I go!!!

Training is going slow....

Well my first session with the trainer was hard for me. She wanted me to focus, but with cars and other dogs barking it is near impossible! We worked together for an hour. Mom was told to work with me daily as she has. Today we had a breakthrough! She has been trying all different treats to get my attention on her and finally she tried cheese!!! Oh man, I LOVE CHEESE!!! She had no idea and I do not know why. I was like HELLO, DUH!! Anyway...Every time a car was approaching she would ask me to sit and give me cheese until the car passed! And I did!! Usually I love to try and get the cars and jump and bark but the cheese is SOOOO much better! We didn't see any other dogs but ran into our neighbors at the end of our walk. I did not even bark at them, just sat there like a good boy hoping to get more of that glorious CHEESE!! Mom was so proud of me and that feels good. I really do not enjoy embarrassing her and Dad but just can't hep myself.

To all my friends that have sent us cards, Thank You! Mommy is working on something special for all of you but it may take a few more weeks. Wonder what it could be......

Bad Boy

Mommy says I am a bad boy. Doesn't she know I love her so much that I have to protect her from EVERYTHING!!! Well the story is.....

Sunday we went for a nice walk on the towpath by the Delaware River. I go kinda bonkers any time I see cars, trains, people, animals and anything that moves. So mom gets nervous when she sees people walking a dog and usually will turn around and go the other way so I do not embarrass her and the rest of my family. I am not sure if I want to play or attack. Well my dad accidentally dropped the leash and I pranced up to the people and the beagle. (pranced meaning I keep my front legs very stiff put my chest out and walk fast) Well I guess I do not want to make friends and tried to bite the other dog before my dad could get a grip on me. I did not get her but I was close. Her parents were so nice and not even mad at me or my parents but mom and dad were upset with me. I don't know why I am so crazy but I guess I need help. SOOOO....Mom called Linda the dog trainer and set up an appointment to help me learn not to be afraid or mean. Cross your paws for me! I need allot of work. I am really a sweet boy who loves my family so much. April 8th is the date!!! Wish me luck!!

Still not able to play with Indy...

Well it has been a week since my new sister Indy came to live with us. I am able to go into her room and see her while she is in her cage. Every time I see her I cry. Mostly because I am excited and want to play with her. She is still too shy but through the cage door she will touch my nose with hers! Ohh I love her! My weird brother Brody is really taken by her and sleeps and cry's at the outside of her room. He has issues! My sister loves Indy too. She was in the room visiting and realized that there was another animal in the room! She starting shaking all over with excitement when she saw the Iguana! She usually only does that when a squirrel is near. Too funny. Oh well I am off to play!

Hey all,

I just had to tell someone about this! On Sunday my Dad loaded up our minivan with a bunch of bags of clothes and blankets for the salvation army bins at the mall. When he came back he told my Mom that there was a stuffed animal bunny next to one of the bins with long floppy ears. But as he moved closer to the bins it moved! It was a real bunny! Someone dumped her there. How sad. Mom and Dad went back with a carrier to bring her home. She was cold wet and muddy. They stopped at the pet store at that same mall and a sweet young lady cleaned the bunny up and trimmed her nails. They bought some rabbit food and brought her home. She is so cute. I want to snuggle with her sooo bad but she is too shy yet. Mom and Dad named her Indy because she was found at the Independence Mall! She sleeps with our Iguana. Not in the same cage but in the same room. They like each other.

How can people be so mean? Drop off a poor bunny in a wet cold parking lot. How sad.
