The specialist with the referral center called me a few minutes ago. Spike is resting comfortably in oxygen therapy again after they took him out to tap his chest for fluids, but the problem is there is not much fluid in his chest. It's all mass. It has gotten very big and pushing against his lungs. Removing the mass is not an option. They will give him steroids today and they will monitor him throughout the day then call me later this afternoon with an update. He will have to spend another night in Mandeville, but may be able to come home tomorrow.
We're praying hard that Spike improves, but in the same vein understand how cruel cancer is to our fur babies. I have been trying to be strong since we learned of Spike's diagnosis, but sometimes it's hard. Some days I feel so helpless. All we can do is follow our vet's advice and make sure Spike is not suffering. Yesterday morning he was having a great time outside laying in the sun and then rolling in the grass; something he loves to do. I grabbed my camera and caught him in action. I'll try to post that to his page sometime today. I pray he can have more days to enjoy doing his favorite things.
Thanks again for all your prayers and support.
