Wednesday's events:

Spike had so much fluid in his chest you could not see his heart, lungs or the mass on the X-ray. The local vet was not able to remove the fluids from Spike’s chest. Therefore we were referred to the Louisiana Veterinary Referral Center in Mandeville. She gave Spike an injection of Furosemide before we left her office. We arrived in Mandeville at approx. 6:30 p.m. and Spike’s breathing was more rapid than previously. He was taken and placed on oxygen therapy almost immediately. An ultrasound and attempt to remove fluids was done, but she said there are a lot of solids within the fluids and she was unable to get the fluids out. She said it may be difficult to get them out, but would keep Spike comfortable throughout the night and consult with the Oncologist today. She told me if they are unable to remove the fluids they may have to do surgery. I called earlier this morning and was advised to call back at 10:30. I'm also waiting to hear back from our holistic vet.

Thank you for all the prayers and your support. Spike and I both appreciate all our friends/furiends.

Spike's Mom

Oh Ramona,

How much can one person take in such a short period of time? I will be praying for Spike and for you as we all know how much you have been through. Please always know that you give your animals such a wonderful life and care for them when they are ill and that is truly a gift to them. Sheba and Miracle are true examples that passing on to Rainbow Bridge isn't a bad thing when you have known love in your life like they have.
