Bio:
I was born in Alexander County, N.C. near Hiddenite. My human parents came and got me on a snowy day in January. I rode between them in a pickup truck and we stopped for squeaky toys on the way to my new home in Randolph County. There was snow on the ground for several days and I thought that maybe I was going to be a sled dog to begin with. The snow was fun, but when it thawed I discovered something even better, a pond! You can swim and wade and chase frogs and do all kinds of neat things. My parents take me around to see all my dog and cat pals. I love to go see my Aunt and Uncle in the mountains and play with all my dog cousins, and they have goats! Whew, that herding instinct of mine kicks in and I really want to show them goats what to do and where they should be. When I am not playing, I work at a pottery shop where I am a receptionist. My job is to greet people and bring them in the shop and check on them at least five times by opening the door. For doing such a good job I was voted Employee of the Year. At present I am recuperating from a sprained leg that I got after a recent Thanksgiving trip to New Jersey. I was so excited when I got home I got out of the car and had a running fit and did not warm up and injured myself. Those dogs in New Jersey sure bark funny!

A Personal Appeal to Santa

First off, Santa I want you to know I have been exceptionally good this year and have been working hard at the pottery shop, greeting folks. I have not shaken the life out of any small rodents, animals, and/or other miscellaneous and sundry varmints. I may have accidently got covered in mud and forgot and got on my master bed a couple of times, but I was incapacitated from the drought like conditions… have I mentioned how becoming you are in red velvet. Since I have been soooo good this year I am coming out and just saying what I really want and I know all of my dog friends have been wishing for these for years, and that is… some bionic dog hands with opposable thumb controls. I mean I like my paws and all that, but it is wondrous to think of all the things I could do with dog hands. I could open doors, cabinets, and get my own dog snacks. With hands, those pesky squirrels could no longer laugh at me sitting high in their treetop perches. I could just whiz up the tree and take care of that chattering, once and for all. With dog hands I could throw my own ball, why the ideas are boundless. With dog hands I would not even need to climb a tree, I could just throw a rock and knock the squirrel out, however Santa let me emphasize that this would be all in good natured fun.
Now Santa, I know you are thinking that I might abuse the privilege and get myself in some serious canine trouble, so if I cannot have dog hands, I want lots of squeaky toys. With them I can at least take out my aggressions on those squeakers! Also, I would like some dog cookies and treats…did I mention how becoming red velvet is to your rosy cheeks!

Christmas is Near

I hope all my two legged and four legged friends are as excited as I am about Christmas. It is a time when I get squeaky toys, and nuts, and fruits such as persimmons…ummm love them but you have to watch those seeds… and canine candies of all sorts. I love the aroma of all the foods baking and you can gather by my somewhat rotund body that I also like to sample those aromatic goodies when they are finished. After Christmas I have promised that I will try and lose some weight and become less full figured and more svelte in my cattle dog physique. I know that some of you boy cattle dogs like us full-figured girls, but I am here to tell you, when you run those pesky squirrels and rabbits you can get winded in a hurry, whew!

Hurricane Hanna....almost, but not a Palindrome

Well there is a new Hurricane brewing in the Atlantic which sounds phonetically like my name, but isn't spelled the same. My name is called a palindrome, because it is spelled the same in both directions, with an H on the front and an H on the back. I thought that was pretty neat and kinda of got the big head until my cousin Bonnie, the Mountain Fice reminded me that the word poop is also a palindrome. Anyway....back to Hurricane Hanna. The National Weather Service is predicting that she might turn up the East Coast and like myself, have a good "running fit" across the Carolinas, bringing lots of rain to Polecat Creek.
