Arrival Story: My goodness- have you ever seen anything so precious! These babies and their Mom have quite a story to tell. Darcy (the Mom) found herself in a high kill shelter outside of Memphis and was a quivering mess. Anytime someone came near her, she would throw herself to the ground and start to cry- this poor girl had obviously been terribly abused in her life. The animal control officers felt so sorry for her and kept leaving her off the euthanization list in hopes that our rescue group would eventually be able to make space for her.
Everyone grew especially concerned when Darcy kept getting bigger and bigger- they were sure something about her pregnancy had gone wrong. When we got her to our vet clinic, it was obviously there was nothing wrong- this poor girl just had 9 babies to deliver! She delivered nine precious babies on 10/15 and they have thrived ever since. Darcy is a Tree Walking Coonhound mix and these babies look to be ALL hound- probably a mix of Tree Walking Coonhound and Bluetick Coonhound. They will be medium sized dogs- probably in the vicinity of 40-50 lbs when full grown.
After eight long weeks, these babies have been weaned and are ready for life as an only child! All nine babies are available for adoption- there are 5 girls and 4 boys. They will arrive in New England on 12/12 and we are hoping that we will have nine fabulous families ready to take them home!
If you are interested in adopting one of Darcy's babies, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for an adoption application.
Thanks so much for considering a rescue dog!
