Best Tricks:
Crawling across the floor on her belly, and wagging her tail at the same time. When asked if she wanted to go outside she would run around in circles, and sneeze at the same time.
Arrival Story:
Well a lady that worked for my elderly grandpa said she was going on a cruise, and asked me to dogsit Gus for her for 9 days. I said yes, and we agreed on a fee. The 9 days passed, and there was no word from her. We figured she was just late, and I called my grandpa to see if he heard anything from her...and he didn't. I called him everyday for 2 weeks, and finally found out she had moved and couldn't take little Gus with her. She could have at least told me before, or called to let me know, but nothing...little Gussie Girl was abandoned. So we kept her for about a month, and decided to try to find her a good home, but after having her for 3 months decided that we couldn't part with her, and just loved her so much. I would have been happy to return Gus after a reasonable amount of time, if she would have called me. But she didn't, she had just abandoned her. I never heard from her, but did see her in the local paper, because she was a nurse at a clinic...I didn't even think she was in the area! I told my grandpa, and another lady overheard, and knew Gus's previous owner. She later told her, and this lady wanted Gus back...it was 2 YEARS LATER! I told her to tell her NO, and that she couldn't just abandon Gus and then want her back two years later.
Bio:
The lady had her for only 2 months, and supposedly got her from a man with his kids at the park. She said the man was yelling at Gus, and so she walked over there and said that she would love to have a dog like that, and the man told her to take her. I think that she did come from an abusive situation from that man and his family, because of the way she acted when I was dogsitting her. But after about 1 week with us she started to come out of her shell, and was so sweet and friendly. I never could get her to play with toys though, she seemed to be afraid of them. Gus loved to go outside, and when you asked her she would run around in circles, and sneeze at the same time. She would occasionally crawl with her belly on the floor to you, and wag her tail. She was so great, and we were glad to give her a loving home. She will always be missed, and loved, and have a special place in our hearts.
Gustina passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2007 in her sleep. Her face gradually turned gray over the years, but this year got really gray, and she started to get slower, and less active. I never knew her real age, or when she was born...so I guessed. I picked the month, and day that we first got her, and guessed on the year. I figure she was about 9 or 10, but may have been even older.
