Six years ago on April 28th I passed to the Rainbow Bridge. I was only 6 months old. I had a lifetime of living yet to do.. yet I left.
It was a horrible tragedy that was compounded by yet more tragedy.
Mom had wanted a little dog to fill a void in her life. Having only had one child who was soon to spread his wings off to college it was going to be lonely in the house. I was so anticipated and so wanted.... She did everything right and then everything went wrong six months later.
Accidents happen and there is nothing that you can do to prevent them.
I fell .... broke my leg. It happened while mom had taken me upstate NY to visit the inlaws. She was so excited to show me off! She took me to the Vet there who confirmed the break... he put me in a splint as I needed to have it surgically repaired. We left for home and went to my regular Vet. The surgery went well. Mom called them and they said I was ok. Somehow between then and later I took a turn for the worse. The Vet did NOT call mom .. he took me HOME with him so he could look after me! I DID NOT MAKE IT THRU THE NIGHT! The next morning from his office he called our house. I think mom was in the shower as it went to the answering machine. She knew immediately there was something wrong. His voice sounded grave..... She called back and could not remember a thing after that....except that he wanted to send my body to Cornell for a necropsy! SHE SAID NO! She wanted her baby. Dad then took over and went to the Vets.. he brought me home. They barely charged us any money..
How could they? They did WRONG! Taking me home not calling mom???
I was buried next to Piper ....
It is still hard for mom to think of all this. It was not supposed to happen.. She loved me so much...
She called in sick to work the whole week.... Dad called the breeder that they had gotten me from to tell her what had happened ...
That is how Pippin came along....but she will never ever forget me....
Thank you all who remembered me on my Rainbow Bridge Day
