Dogster stats for OSCAR
9 times 64
Oscar da la Hoya, Oscar the grouch, Oscar de la Renta, Lil' Man, Back Yard Trash
To chase a squirrel up a tree, eat of course & go for rides in the Suburban with his head out the window
Not having pettigree on his food, not getting to go ride with us everytime & not catching a squirrel & the big, blue exercise yoga ball, hates that!
A filthy, dirty, smelly giant octupus Beanie Baby that just won't go away! As well as a squeaky, high pitched hedgehog that has been replaced several times from large, white doggy teeth (he thinks it's the same toy, so don't tell Oscar it's not)
Anything with Pettigree chunks on it, loves Benefit dog food, Beggin' Strips & cheese!!!
Of course to the Suburban to go for a ride but runner up is the middle school park where he can chase all the squirrels he pleases until he runs them up a tree
Oscar can sit, stay, shake & wave!!! He also can climb a tree, well he thinks he can after those darn squirrels!
Our beloved chow chow, Harley, died suddenly on July of 2003. With no intentions of ever replacing Harley, as no one could, I decided that I'd be without a four legged child for awhile. One day, my sister, who owns Buddha the chow chow, emailed me a rescued chow group who had just posted some adoptions on Petfinder. When I saw this beautiful chow chow picture, I immediately called the resuce group in Wilmington, NC to see the adoption status of this dog. As you might know
regarding the chow chow disposition, this breed often gets a bad label, & usually do not get adopted out, but not in this case. Oscar was a AKC registered purebred chow chow who had an evil owner, who like so many, decided to just breed, breed & breed this dog to make money. Oscar had fathered 3 litters by the time we got him. He had his "wife" Babe, who along with 2 other chow chows were left alone in a fenced in yard for 2 long, hot weeks with little food & no clean water. Oscar had lost about 15 lbs., developed heart worms but after Paula his rescue angel took him into her chow chow home, he gained weight, was cured of his heart worms & became a father again of 2 chow chows (boy & girl). We knew when we saw this dog sitting there waiting for us to arrive, with a smile on his face, that he was to come home with us. So a year later, Oscar is king of the house! The good ending to this story is all the chow chows found wonderful homes!!! & who says rescued dogs don't make the very best pets!
When we rescued Oscar, he had never been on a leash before, that didn't take him to long to get used to as now he cannot wait to go on a leashed walk...then he can chase those squirrels up the trees!!!
