Secret Pals

In honor of Secret Pal Day on Jan 11, 2009, Georgie started a game in Schnauzers Rule. For the Week of Jan 11-17 each pup that signed up surprised their secret pal with all sorts of virtual gifts, links, pictures, etc. Georgie, Finnegan and I didn't get to play because it didn't seem fair to know everyone's secret pal ahead of time. But SOMEONE was sending me gifts every day as an unofficial secret pal. On the last day there was a hint that said "Root for the Ravens". I looked up that the Ravens were from Baltimore so it was a good hint. Unfortunately, I didn't discover who it was. It was so fun to get the presents and wonder who was this special pup. But today, I found out it was OSCAR. How cool is he for doing that!!! THANK YOU Oscar for being my unofficial secret pal but my lifetime friend.

Alright Pals! You made it here. I see you caught my foot ball pass. Here is what you should do next! Hurry and pass the ball to 5 of your team mates so they can make a touch down. You are also supposed to write down 5 things about yourself that are funny. Also please leave me a bone and ask all those who visit your diary to leave you a bone so you will know they have been there! Okā€¦Here goes the play!

1. I am a fanatic about playing ball.

2. I'm the boss of Finnegan and I tell him by barking in his face.

3. I can fit through the fence around our pool and sometimes I poop around the pool!

4. I love to chase Finnegan when he's chasing squirrels.

5. I sleep under the blankets on Mom & Dad's bed.

My good buddy Lilly tagged me.

I'm tagging:

Sophie Grace said she'd be my Valentine!!! I'm the happiest little black schnauzer ... she so pretty and sweet.

Our parents are always off riding motorcycles. My biggest wish is that I could take her for a ride in my dad's sidecar. to make that happen??

Here is the poem I wrote for Sophie Grace for Valentine's Day, and I entered it in the Schnauzers rule poetry contest. Keeping paws crossed that others love it too!

Roses are red
Sophie Grace is cute!
In my sidecar, beards outspread
From the wind while we scoot!

Happy Valentine's Day !

I went for my first motorcycle sidecar ride tonight. First dad took me out by myself. Then Finnegan and I rode together. We went to a nearby neighborhood, where dad knew some people. Everyone was outside waiting for it to get dark enough to light some fireworks. So when we drove up, everyone was really excited to see us. Finnegan did his usual wiggle butt and face licking routine. I barked at everybody - BOLBOL!!! Dad says I'm a really good rider so I'll get to go again! Woo hoo, happy 4th of July everyone.

I've been chosen by Milly as Schnauzer of the Week in the Schnauzers Rule group!!! WOW, I'm so honored. I've received lots of presents from my pals, and they're going to have a thread where everyone gets to ask me questions. I can't wait for that!!! BOLBOLBOLBOL....

Mom & Dad are very proud of me. They said I've worked very hard to be a good schnauzer family member this year. We're sorry we haven't been around much for the past several months, there has just been a lot going on. So our whole family really appreciates this honor.

So on with the day ARRROOOOOOOOO, BOLBOLBOLBOLBOL....................

Swimming, well sort of . . .

What part of my name Terrier...originating from dog of the EARTH....indicates that I would like water? Today, I had to go through a humiliating experience in front of my brother and sister. I had to get into the swimming pool with mom!!! Swimming pools are WET from Water, not DRY or even MUDDY from Earth. She sat on the top step and held me in her lap. I did not move, hoping she would remember that she had an Earth Dog in the Water and return me immediately to dry land!!!! Then she decided that I needed to swim. Sheesh, I'm not a duck!!! I don't even float!!! I'm all muscle so I sink immediately. She held me in the water while I flailed around, very inefficiently creeping forward. She directed me back to the steps. She says she wants me to know about the steps in case I ever fall in. Forget the steps, I don't even want to go near that pool!!! I'm only interested in pooping on the cement around the pool. I'll show them!!!!

It seems that our yard is skunkless these days! Finn & I charged one in our backyard about a month ago, and Finn got sprayed. So mom has kept us inside as soon as it gets dark. But then last week the neighbor reported that her big dog killed 2 skunks in their back yard!!!! He sure wasn't allowed in the house. Dad gave them our special recipe for deskunking us: 1 quart 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, 1/4 cup Baking Soda and 1 teaspoon Dawn liquid soap. He's had to use it 3 times on us, and it always works! So the neighbors tried it and Blue is now allowed back in his house! Whew, we were feeling sorry for him. Mom was feeling sorry for the people!!!

But it turns out that now we're skunkless. I bet the rest of them moved on to a less dangerous neighborhood!

Attempted attack!

Today our dog walker Paula came by for our regular midday walk. She comes on the days that mom is at work. Dad just happened to be at home. Anyway, as we walked out of the door of our house, I saw a dog across the street and I barked at him. He was a big dog, and he was off leash!!!! He ran over to us right on our front steps and tried to attack me. He was trying to bite my neck!!! Paula protected me & Finnegan although we were trying to get to that intruder. She yelled at the lady to come get her dog, while she stood across the street calling her dog. Of course he wasn't listening to her. She finally came over, put her dog on leash and quickly walked away, without a word to Paula!!! Dad heard the ruckus and when he came outside and heard what had happened, he ran down the street looking for that lady. But he couldn't find her. I bet they ran home!!! Paula has been our walker for several years. She knows all of the neighbors and dogs in our neighborhood and she said they weren't anyone she recognized.

Mom was furious when she got home. We live on a private drive that is a dead end, and there is a sign that says only owners and guests allowed. What the heck were they doing on our street off leash!!! Mom says she'll call the police if that ever happens again. They better watch out for mom and us - we won't be so nice next time!!!

Today when mom got home she saw a woman walking a dog that Paula described that tried to attack me. She told dad, and he waited outside for her to walk by our house. Of course we were inside with mom. So dad asked her if she was the one with her dog off leash the other day, and she admitted she was! She apologized and said hat her dog got off leash by accident....hmmm, sounds fishy if you ask me. Any way dad told her that he welcomes her to the neighborhood, but if a similar incident ever occurs he will defend his dogs!!! She apologized and said it would never happen again. We sure hope so.
