Sorry to report the loss of Zeus

We are sorry to report that Zeus' White Lightening has passed on. 4/11/08 I took him back to the vets b/c his stomach had swollen and he was becoming weak again w/ pale gums. The doctor checked his pack cell volume and it was down to 22 again. He did an ultrasound on his spleen and found a large tumor as his spleen had swelled to an unusual size. The doc figured the cancer in the spleen was killing/damaging his new blood cells from the transfusion. He also felt the cancer was in his liver and possibly lungs. We made the hardest decision of our lives to put him to sleep. We miss him so much and this feels like a horrible nightmare. We have his sister to take care of and to keep us going. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers!

Not feeling so well!

Last Saturday I went to the vet for my vaccinations and 15min later I was sick (lethargic, shallow breathing, weak) and went back to the vets. He gave me a shot of prednisone and told me to be quiet. I felt better on Sunday and on Monday and Tuesday I was skittish, like I was afraid of everyone. Well, Tuesday night I had 4 seizures, shallow breathing, lethargic and weak again, plus my gums were white. Mom took me to the vet at 11pm and he did all kinds of stuff to me, found out my platelettes were 28 and he started me on prednisone. The next morning I went back (Wednesday) and my platelettes were 22. We took a long trip to OSU for a blood transfusion b/c the doc thinks I have IMHA. They put me on Azathioprine and prednisone to help stop the progression. Mommy is really scared and worried about me but I am a strong boy and hope to recover. Mommy says I am a tough boy and she loves me very much!!! Please say some prayers for me.

Vet visit

Yesterday I went to the vet for my check up and shots. I was such a good boy but the doc could not get over how gray I am, I almost look like a white boxer! I was so excited to visit with doc and all the girls, I got lots of treats. All and all the doc gave me a good bill of health and mom got a good bill too, or should I say a BIG bill (Sadie went too). Oh, tomorrow is my sister's birthday. Make sure to say Happy Birthday to Sadie! Woof and wiggle butt wave.
