07/06/13 More new neighbors and thunderboomies

Hi pals,

Since Puffy hurt his hind knee I have been allowed to play with my bunny sister Arleenton. She is lots of fun because she lets me bark in her face and play tag with her. I have to mention, since momma is right here, that we discovered today that Arleenton might be deaf. Momma went to give Arleenton some food and the cage door hit against the wall. Arleenton didn’t acknowledge the noise nor even know that momma was speaking to her. When she finally stopped her grooming and looked up, she appeared to be startled. Daddy said Arleenton acts just like momma does when she doesn’t hear someone approaching her. Arleenton is an old bunny so it is quite possible.

Today when the humans were headed into town to get Arleenton some lettuce, they saw some new neighbors. Momma thinks they were some type of vultures. They had red heads and their bodies’ kind of resembled wild turkeys. This time momma did have her camera with her so she took a couple of pictures. If they come out momma will post one on either Puffy’s or my page. The birds were eating a Prairie Dog that got run over on the main road right by the area where the Badgers were last seen.

We have been having thunderboomies daily, sometimes more than a couple of time per day. I don’t like them at all. When the skies cloud up the humans put my Thundershirt on me but I’m still scared when the booming starts.

Puffy’s left hind knee continues to pop out and give him problems but you should have seen him leap into his bed when he was playing with one of his stuffies. Sometimes I think he forgets that he has a sore knee.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

PS – Hershey, Winkie and family – we you do not live anyplace close to where the air plane crashed today.

07/03/13 Thunderboomies

Hi pals,

Life here in New Mexico sure is different than what it was in California. I have experienced intense coldness, torrential rains, wild animals, and the last couple of afternoons and early morning hours, thunderboomies and lightning like I have never experienced before.

The mornings start out cloud free and sunny but come afternoon, the dark clouds start coming in and before you know it there is a sprinkle or two of rain with LOUD thunderboomies and lightning. One of the thunderboomies was so loud that even momma heard it and she didn’t have on her bionic ears.

Momma made sure I had on my Thundershirt and opened the walk in closet so I could go in there to hide if I wanted to. The Thundershirt helped somewhat because I didn’t run around in the house paniced, however I still panted like crazy and was afraid. So anyhow, around 1AM momma was sleeping and I managed to get her up to tell her that I was afraid. Not hearing the thunderboomies she put Puffy and me OUTSIDE to do our business while she went and did hers. When she opened the door to let us back inside it was sprinkling and it was then that momma saw a flash of lightning and realized why I had woke her up. She then picked Puffy and me up and we snuggled with her on the big bed. I continued to shiver and pant but after a long time I went to sleep snuggled next to momma.

The sky right now is sunny with only a few small, fluffy clouds in sight, but the weather prediction for this afternoon is more thunderboomies. Momma says although the thunderboomies are frightening, what is really scary is the lightning strikes since we live surrounded by huge trees and all it would take is one strike of lightning to set the trees and surrounding forest on fire – YIKES!

06/30/13 Lessons learned

Hi pals,

I have been working with Puffy on teaching him the importance of sharing treats. Today when momma gave us each three cheese treats, I gathered mine up and started to eat one while watching as Puffy took one of his treats and moved away from the others while he ate the treat in his mouth. As soon as he moved, I went and took his other two treats and added them to MY pile of treats and then sat there and enjoyed all of the treats. Puffy had one treat and I ended up with five.

The lessons I taught Puffy today were:

1) It’s nice to share.
2) See how you feel when someone doesn’t share with you – BOL, BOL
3) Never leave your treats unguarded because they won’t be there when you get back.

Hugggggs and Kissssses (sorry my mouth is full)

06/23/13 New neighbors

Momma and daddy saw some new neighbors a few days ago. It was a family of Badgers. Momma only saw three Badgers but daddy said there was another one close by as the three smaller Badgers were digging a hole along the main road. Of course momma didn’t have her camera along so she wasn’t able to get a picture of them so yesterday when the humans were going to town momma took her camera with her but there were no Badgers, only a big hole where they were digging. Daddy says we can’t play with them because they are mean.

Hi pals,

We had early morning visitors in the garden today: a herd of deer had jumped over the fence and made themselves right at home. Daddy said they stayed for about two hours before they decided they had done enough damage and moved on. We went out to check on the garden afterwards and only four little plants are left so we’re guessing they won’t be back for a while.

Got to go and find some fresh deer poop...

06/05/13 Bath day

Hi pals,

This morning did not start out well. Daddy came and got Puffy and me from momma’s bed and was going to let us snuggle with him for a while as momma continued to snore away. We were real excited until he decided that we were too dirty and needed a bath.

Yup, he hauled us off to the laundry room and gave us both a bath. Then since we were soaking wet, he returned us to momma’s bedroom – BOL, BOL. Needless to say, we managed to wake momma up quickly. She asked daddy why he didn’t use the blow dryer to dry us off and he said it was nice and warm so we would dry off fast. Let me tell you it was 7 AM and yes the sun was out but it was still cool and I was shivering. Momma then asked daddy if he squirted the liquid stuff in our ears that is supposed to dry any water out of them after bathing, and he said no, so off to the laundry room we were hauled once again for the dreaded ear squirt stuff and then we were both dried with the blow dryer.

After all this, momma let us in the sewing room and I got to bark and play with my bunny sister Arleenton. I had a great time with her and she even seemed to enjoy it too. She would flop down on the pillow and lay on her side so I don’t think she mined my company at all. She even ate some spinach as I barked at her – BOL. I’m hoping Puffy and I get to play with her more.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

05/18/13 Another day being left at home

Hi pals,

First I would like to thank Dogster for selecting my diary as one of the featured diaries of the day. I never get tired of this honor.

I would also like to send lots of love to my pal Nina for making me the pretty picture frame for me to always remind me of todays honor. Ms. Nina you make such pretty picture frames and I cherish each and every one. Thank you for always taking the time to do these for your pals. I'm sure everyone enjoys them as much as I do.

It wouldn't be right for me to be talking about Dogster honors without mentioning my pal Demon Flash Bandit also had his diary featured today. Way to go big guy, you know how to keep everyone entertained with what you write.

Now on to being left at home, again. Momma asked daddy if they could go to the Zuni reservation and do some grocery shopping at the little market that is there. Arleenton, our bunny sister was out of lettuce and although the Zuni market is quite tiny, they are the only place that carries fresh fruits and veggies if one doesn't want to make a 45 mile trip into Gallup. Zuni is about 22 miles from where we live so it's not exectly like going to the cornor grocery store like we used to do in California.

Anyhow, after the humans had breakfast, momma put up the baby gate across our bedroom door and then got her purse and went out the French doors leaving Puffy and me behind. How could they do that when she knew we wanted to go too? I think this type of behavior shouldn't be allowed.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

05/16/13 Stroller ride

Hi pals,

Guess what Puffy and I got to do today….

We went for a stroller ride in our Dogmobile.

The ride was cut short because it’s hard to push the Dogmobile on gravel roads and truth be know, it wasn’t all that comfortable getting bounced all about either.

Hugs and kisses,

05/15/13 Haircut and bath

Hi pals,

This morning momma said she had a surprise for me so I got all excited and happy; little did I know that “Surprise” was nothing more than a haircut and bath. That’s right pals; momma once again took the clippers to my beautiful hair and attempted to give me a haircut like our groomer used to do. Momma said she would never cut my beautiful hair again after the last terrible hair cut she gave me but there isn’t a groomer close to where we now live so momma gave it another try. Let’s just say she still should NOT apply for a position as a dog groomer, if you get my drift.

After my haircut I was forced to endure soap in my eyes and even worse that nasty stuff she squirts in my ears afterwards that is supposed to dry up any water that gets in them.

I was lucky though because daddy was busy installing the tile on the shower so he didn’t get a chance to trim my nails – BOL.

Now I need to go outside and find something to roll around in.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

05/12/13 Mother's day rosette

The #1 mother’s day cup that Dogster is allowing us to send to our pals for free today was a nice jester; however, I don’t understand why they didn’t take the time to change the Star of David to read #1 mother. I for one want to thank my pals who sent me one of the cups, but I could not bring myself to send any out to my pals because I did not know who I might upset. Religious symbols have different meanings and some pals may not be receptive to having a Star of David on their page. I think if Dogster did not have the time to change the Star of David on the rosette then they should have offered the #1 Mom or maybe one of the flowers as a free rosette for today.

Hugs and kisses and Happy Mother’s day to all.
