05/15/12 Packing

I tried really hard to take my afternoon nap today but momma was packing some stuff up and making a bunch of noise. Sometimes I think she feels since she can't hear the noise she makes that no one else can either, which is completely untrue.

Daddy called and told momma that the builder still has not gotten the permit to erect the house so he is unsure of when he is going to be headed back home. He did put up his "office" so he would have a place to "think" at during the day (momma posted a photo on my page). I suspect daddy is going to be using his office a lot - BOL, BOL

The deer have not been seen in the lot behind ours as they ran off when those campers were making all the racket but I'm certain they will be back.

Daddy told us he almost killed the game wardens puppy the other day because the dog ran out in front of daddy's truck and daddy had to swerve to miss it. The puppy was on the main road to the house and not in it's own yard. Apparently people in the development are prone to allowing their dogs to roam. Momma told Puffy and I not to get any ideas because we are not going to be allowed to explore off leash.

One thing people there are telling daddy is that he needs to get some outdoor cats and a large dog to keep the unwanted critters away. Momma is willing to adopt some spayed/neutered cats but how will they keep warm in the freezing weather? We won't have a barn but will have the garage however it won't be heated. Any suggestions?

05/14/12 Another day - another nap

Hi pups,

It’s another very nice sunny day here in Southern California. Then temperatures are expected to get into the high 80’s which is perfect for exploring the great outdoors. Momma has wanted to take Puffy and I to Del Mar’s dog beach but due to the high cost of gas is not going to. Gas prices are ranging from $4.20 all the way up to $4.80 a gallon – YIKES! The beach is well over one hour’s car ride one way, so it doesn’t look like we will be going anytime soon. The really sad part about this whole thing is that I was going to meet up with Hobo and his momma but now that too has been put on hold.

Daddy remains in New Mexico “working” on the property. I suspect he isn’t “working” too hard because he had a hammock delivered there – LOL. Momma asked him if he put it up yet and he claims he hasn’t but knowing daddy I would be very surprised if this were true – BOL, BOL.

Daddy had to go into town and do his laundry and grocery shop at the local Wal-Mart. The plumber is supposed to come out to the property today and start doing what ever it is that he needs to do before the pads get poured next week, weather permitting. In regards to the weather, daddy was telling us that the skies cloud up and it looks like it will rain but nothing happens. There were some thunderstorms but only a couple of drops of rain fell.

There is a herd of deer that graze the grass in the lot that is behind ours. One of the deer has taken to watching daddy and he said he took a picture but hasn’t sent it to us yet because he is waiting for his high speed internet to be connected sometime today. The realtor that owns and sells most of the property in our development allowed a prospective buyer to camp out on the lot for sale that is adjacent to our and the people got drunk and made so much noise that daddy call the realtor to complain. According to daddy the campers were shouting and carrying on something terrible and scared all the deer off. Thankfully these people didn’t buy the lot and the realtor promised she would not allow anyone to camp on the property again. I need to find out when deer drop their antlers so I can have daddy go look for any laying on the back property for Zoe.

That’s about all that has been going on. Time for a cookie and a nap.

05/12/12 Don't mss with us

Hi pups,

Daddy has been gone for two weeks now and things around the house are kind of messed up. Momma finished reupholstering the kitchen chairs and finally put up that nasty staple gun. She has been working on painting the living room walls and got one wall mostly done but the ceiling height in some places is probably about 18 feet so there is no easy way momma can paint some of them without climbing on a latter and believe me that isn’t something she should even consider. I can just see it now momma climbing ups the latter with a can of opened paint, paint brush and painters tape. I’d be willing bet that momma would either fall off the latter or drop the open can of paint.

When momma was painting the one wall that she can reach in the living room a sand color she got paint all over the expensive area rug that daddy bought. It’s a good thing she noticed immediately because she was able to wipe it all off so daddy will never even know (momma said she will give me extra cookies daily if I don’t mention this to daddy) – BOL, BOL.

Daddy has been calling momma daily to tell her about his New Mexico adventures. The second grading company came over this week and fixed the grading problem that the first company made. Today daddy was going to go into town to do laundry and then shop for some groceries. He was also going to go to a local swap meet to check it out. He said he saw a herd of deer in the lot behind ours and one of the graders saw a live elk grazing on grass close to our property. Next week if the weather permits workers will be installing the rebar to get the site ready for concrete. A lot of the building issues depend on the weather. Daddy has already experienced strong winds and loud thunder storms with some rain.

He has not gone to see the waterfall that is supposed to be someplace to close to our property or the lake that is there also. We tried to see the lake the last time we were all there but you need a key to open the private gate and we had not requested one yet. Momma says she wants to see the pelicans that rest on the lake during their migration. She is also planning on fishing the lake for dinner but will have to make sure she has a fishing license because the game warden lives right down the street from us – BOL.

Daddy says it’s really quite on our property except for the roosters that are crowing all the time. Apparently one of our neighbors has one or two roosters. I wonder when we get our egg laying chickens if they will be excited when they hear the rooster and lay more eggs – keep in mind we are city dogs and know nothing about farming – BOL,BOL.

Anyhow nothing much else is going on. Puffy and I have been barking our little heads off like always to make sure everyone know this house is protected by ferocious dogs so don’t mess with us!

05/08/12 I didn't get my nap today

Hi pups,

Today our naps were disturbed with momma reupholstering the kitchen chairs. Have you any idea how loud a staple gun is? Momma put a million staples in each chair thus making it almost impossible to sleep with all the noise she was making. And why would she waste time reupholstering these chairs is beyond understanding since it was the cats that ruined them in the first place by scratching on them and I can guarantee they are going to scratch the new covers too so why bother?

Daddy called from New Mexico and told momma that they are having thunderstorms with lightning and rain right now. I don’t like thunderstorms so this is something I am not looking forward to experiencing. The land grading had to be done over because the first person who did it did not do it correctly. No further work can be done on the property for the house build until the rain stops and the dirt dries up. Daddy is sitting in that horrible trailer without high speed internet or cable TV – BOL, BOL. He has also been complaining about it still being cold in the mornings over there but at least he isn’t freezing because he has the heater we bought during our last trip to New Mexico.

Momma finally cooked dinner tonight and she will be giving us some of her steak right before we moved back to the sewing room. She tried to sleep on the big bed with us last night but I kept on wanting off the bed to get a drink of water and after the third time she marched us back to the sewing room and went to sleep on the daybed – BOL, BOL.

Oh yeah, in other news, momma volunteered to foster a young male Goldendoodle (Huey are you reading this)? This young pup in a California pound and is on the list to be put down because he has not been adopted. The problem momma is having with this situation is that the people who posted the add for the foster home don’t know anything about the history of the dog and can’t tell momma if it will be nice with us or the kitties or our bunny sister. Any suggestions?

05/07/12 Life without daddy

Hi pals,

Things have been different around home lately. Daddy packed up the hauling trailer and drove to New Mexico on Saturday leaving Puffy and I in charge of home security while he is gone. We take our job seriously and bark our little heads off every chance we get – BOL.

Momma has been busy doing some painting and cleaning while daddy is gone. Puffy tried to walk in some of the paint but momma saw him just in time and was able to grab him before he painted the floor.

One of biggest problems with having daddy gone is that momma stopped cooking dinner – yup, that’s right she has not cooked dinner and therefore Puffy and I are not getting chicken, beef or pork samples. Oh sure momma does put out kibble and moist dog food for us to eat but we are on strike and are holding out for the real food so she better start cooking again soon.

Daddy called and told us that he experienced his first thunderstorm at our property in New Mexico and the weather report says to expect more. This is bad news because the person who did the grading for the pads did it wrong and now it has to be fixed before the pads can be done, plus the pads can’t be done if it is raining. The buildings are going to be delivered at the end of the month so the pads have to be in place so the buildings can be put up. All these delays mean daddy might be gone for a long time.

05/02/12 Rest in peace Junior Seau

As many of you know we are die hard Charger fans and one of our all time favorites who was a Charger for many years passed away today by an suspected self-inflicted gun shot wound.

At this time anything actually said about his passing is purely speculation so we will only say that our family will miss him a lot and that he was loved by many here. May he rest in peace.

05/01/12 Another day, another nap

Hi pups,

Nothing much has been going on down my way lately. Daddy is still packing up some stuff he is going to take to New Mexico with him so I’m staying out of his way so I don’t accidently get packed up in one of the boxes too.

He was supposed to leave on Monday but had an obligation that couldn’t be rescheduled for later this week so he had to stay. Momma said she will take Puffy and me to dog beach in Del Mar as soon as daddy leaves so she can make sure Puffy experiences the beach but quite frankly I hate the beach with all of the sand, strange dogs and water so it’s not something I really want to do. Momma wanted to take us to Dog beach last month but daddy didn’t want momma to drive that far so this is going to be our big secret okay?

The weather right now isn’t beach weather either as it is cloudy with light drizzle coming down. If I had my way I would much rather sleep on the big bed instead of going to the beach and dream about Hobo my wonderful boyfriend.
