03/04/13 Good-bye Bay-Ling

At approximately 11:50AM today, Bay-Ling was sent to the Rainbow Bridge. She was loosing weight and this weekend she started having problems breathing so this morning momma and daddy drove off the mountain and went to Gallup to the local Vet. Blood tests came back normal and nothing could be found wrong except that she was very skinny and was still having problems breathing. Daddy and momma thought she might have had a hair ball or other obstruction inside of her so the nice vet did a chest X-ray. Daddy and momma were beginning to breath easy thinking that whatever the problem was it was fixable. However, life sometimes has a way of throwing a curve ball from time to time as the vet came out into the waiting room with a syringe filled with watered down blood. She said that Bay-Ling's chest cavity was filled with this watered down fluid that she couldn't see her lungs and that was why she couldn't breath. Daddy asked her if it could be drained and the vet said it could but all it would do is give her maybe one more week before it filled up again. We were told that we could take her home but having her die struggling to breath just didn't seem right so she was sent to the Rainbow Bridge with daddy and momma at her side.

We all got to sniff at Bay-Ling before daddy and momma burried her outside under a nice pine tree. I'm going to miss you so much Bay-Ling.

02/26/13 Laundry room mouse

It finally happened, daddy caught a mouse in the laundry room and we didn't even get to sniff it. Daddy left it in the mouse trap and told momma it was dead so she told him to go take it out and dispose of it. What I don't understand is why we have TWO cats in the house and yet the humans had to resort to buying mouse traps to get rid of the mouse. I think if the cats aren't going to catch mice then they should go find another home to live in - don't you agree?

02/23/13 More snow

Hi pals,

I’m so confused with the weather here in New Mexico. Last week the snows were almost gone and the mud left behind was drying out nicely, then this week Mother Nature fooled us and dropped another foot of snow on our property. Everything was once again covered with the white stuff. Today, the sky turned blue and the sun was once again shining upon us but that is causing the snows to melt again. All day today Puffy and I laid on the Queen bed in the living room (Yes, we are still sleeping in the living room), and watched ice cycles falls from the rain gutters from the roof along with big clumps of snow. It was freighting as they make a scary noise and thus I was afraid to go outside to do my business. Anyhow, this isn’t the end of the snows because the weather forecast is saying there is another one coming – DANG!!!! How’s a girl supposed to do her business?

02/01/12 I'm BEGGING...

Hi pals,

The last couple of days have been terrible because momma has decided to take away ALL treats that have any type of MEATZ as their main ingredients simply because I have been drinking water like crazy and then piddling throughout the house. Gone are my wonderful Cowboy Steaks along with the tasty duck strips that I adore. They have been replaced with hard crunchy doggy biscuits that are okay but honestly they just don’t satisfy like real MEATZ treats. Also gone are the kittie’s food bowls and water dish as they are now sitting on top of the crates so the kitties can get to them but I can’t. I am so desperate that I have been following momma around begging, yes, BEGGING, for a decent treat but momma has not given in especially since I have now stopped drinking three huge bowls of water and am no longer piddling all over the place.

How will I survive without MEATZ treats? Of course I could live on MAZY’s Applesauce/sweet potato/oatmeal bones (hint, hint, Mazy can momma have the recipe?)

Anyhow, I’m hoping momma will give in but after having to wash all the bedding and the floors a couple of time I’m guessing she isn’t going to forget about the new treat restrictions anytime soon.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

01/31/13 Dogster fleas

It appears that I barked too soon because although Dogster removed the nasty ole red "X" that was displayed instead of my lovely photo that I posted the other day, today, when I added the photo that my wonderful pal Nina did for me the red "X" is back.

Maybe Dogster has a new policy to screen all photos first before displaying them on Dogster.

Anyhow, here is the link to the photo that Nina did for me...

Thank you Nina for the pretty pink picture frame.

Hugs and kisses,

01/30/13 I was going to complain but...

That's right pups, I was going to complain to Dogster that I was having problems posting photos on my page. Recent photos that I posted had appeard as a red "X". After several days of wearing the red "X", all of a sudden, without me even complaining, the red "X" has been removed and low and behold, my photos are back.

I did notice that several of my pals still have the Red "X's" on their pages but let's hope that their pretty photos come back just like mine did.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

01/28/13 This, that and whatever

Hi pals,

We have had sun, hail, high winds, dropping temperatures and now snow all in the course of 8 hours. Earlier this morning while the sun was shining I went up by the nasty trailer to scout for bunny dropping and was having a grand ole time until momma made me come back into the house. As soon as I got in the door she grabbed me and took me into the laundry room where she game me a dreaded bath (Puffy got one too – HeHeHe). I ask you should I have been punished getting a bath just because I had mud in my feetsies? The humans should have been thrilled to have my feet prints on the bedding as some humans with superb taste even pay for such wonderful bedding – Maybe Zaidie should open a household goods division and let one of the packs with multiple sized pups in it stamp their paws on various items that can be sold. He can even hire Cleo to over see sales in the international division.

It’s never too late to think about Christmas so I suggest that Zaidie also get Zoe, Fizzy, Monte, Whitley, Finley, Nina, Toto, Abby, Hobo, Luna and some of the other pups with pretty voices and do a Christmas video. Ceeley, Buttercup and of course me, could dance around in pretty dresses while the rest of the gang bark to Christmas songs. I’m sure the video would be a really big money maker.

And we can’t forget to hire on Ebby as the food critic who will taste all suggested treats and write up her finding in Zaidie’s new monthly magazine (title yet to be decided).

Anyhow, I’m off to piddle someplace…

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

My pal Nina made me a beautiful picture frame to celebrate my diary being one of the featured diaries on Dogster today: However, due to some flea issues on Dogster the photo is not being displayed (notice the big red "X" where my picture should be)? Anyhow, here is the link for the photo that Nina did for me - isn't it BEAUTIFUL??? Thank you Nina!

Oh yeah, thank you Dogster for selecting my diary to be one of the featured diaries of the day.

01/25/13 The mud in New Mexico

Hi pals,

The snows have been melting and our yard is nothing more than brown and yellow slush with some spots of doggy nuggets peppered here and there. Going outside to do our business is uncomfortable because of the conditions. Both Puffy and I have been slipping and sliding around on the ice and I for one do not like to walk in the mud. Right now it feels like summer with a nice warm 33 degrees (hey, last week it was well below zero so 33 degrees is quite an improvement) however we are expecting a rain storm to come in tonight and tomorrow followed by more snow and lower temperatures again. I thought I’d get momma ready for what’s to come so when she wasn’t looking I might have piddled on the human’s bed – BOL, BOL. She is currently washing all the bedding and I’m laying low with my Busy Bone acting like I don’t know why she is all mad – BOL.

Hugs and kisses,
Coco Rose

01/22/13 Mud

Hi pals,

We have had about 20” of snow dumped on us in the last month or so. Not knowing what is expected of them, the humans, well actually momma, has shoveled walk paths for us but that is about all – keep in mind that we are all from sunny California so dealing with snow is not something that they have ever had to deal with.

Anyhow, the day before yesterday, momma was outside trying to widen one of the snow paths and she slipped and fell on her knees onto some hard ice. Momma came limping back into the house and daddy cleaned up her knee and then went outside and axed the ice where she fell away.

Today, the humans had an appointment in Gallup to have the cracked windshield on daddy’s truck replaced. They left bright and early this morning but when they got back well into the afternoon hours, the sun had melted more ice and a lot of the 8 mile road leading into our property was nothing more than muddy slush. The truck was slipping and sliding all over the road. Momma left out a sigh when daddy was pulling the truck into our driveway when all of a sudden it went sideways and got stuck in the muck. Yup, once again daddy got the truck stuck. The front end of the truck was on our property but part of the tail end was hanging out into the one lane community road. Momma and daddy had to lug the groceries up our long driveway while slipping and sinking down into mud. You should have seen them, both had mud all over them and somehow daddy even managed to cake all his keys in it too – BOL, BOL. Daddy managed to get the truck unstuck and drove it up to the house.

Does anyone have any experience with driving a non-4 wheel drive in such conditions? Would it have helped had he had the snow chains on? Is there a trick for driving in the muck? Any tips/help offered sure would be helpful.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose
