Hi pals,

Not too much to report going on here. Yesterday the humans went to Gallup to do some shopping – momma went to Wal-Mart for groceries while daddy was across the street at Home Depot. They were gone for hours and Puffy and I napped the day away on the wonderful King sized bed – BOL, BOL. Of course we really wanted to go with the humans for a nice truck ride but after hearing about what happened to daddy’s truck it’s a good thing we didn’t go. While daddy was driving back to our house on the 8 mile dirt road that leads home, there was a loud “POP” noise but according to daddy they didn’t know what caused it. When they got to the gate to our property momma got out of the truck to open the gate and when she got back inside and closed the truck door, the back window shattered. Yup, glass was everywhere and now they have to have that window replaced. It was just a couple of months ago that the humans had to replace the front truck windshield because a rock hit it and caused it to crack horizontally from the passenger side all the way to the driver’s side. To make matters worse, it started to rain and because there are still boxes and furniture in the garage/warehouse daddy couldn’t park the truck inside and it had to be left in the rain.

Daddy did put a plastic covering over the window but it blew off while he was taking a nap so momma had to go outside in the pouring rain and re-cover it plus weigh it down with some wood so that it wouldn’t fly off again. Sometimes I guess it’s best to stay at home.

I experienced my first thunderstorm with lighting and DID NOT LIKE IT AT ALL!!!! Momma did put my Thundercoat on me and I did calm down a bit, but all this thunder and lightning frightens me. Momma says it frightens her also because the lighting can cause fires to erupt.

Well I need to go find a cookie…

Hugs and kisses,

05/06/13 No more biting and our garden

Hi pals,

Since big mouth Puffy informed EVERYONE that I bit momma on the finger and caused it to bleed, I thought I better let you know that there have been no further biting incidents. Momma is watching me like a hawk and is going to take me to the vet this week when the humans go into town. She says I am drinking water like crazy but my output isn’t matching what I am in taking.

In other news, daddy got out the rototiller and spent a good part of the day getting the plot of dirt ready for planting. Momma then took the plants she started in the kitchen outside and planted them. They spent hours outside and only let Puffy and I out for a little while because Puffy kept on getting in the way of the rototiller. Anyhow, after the garden was planted momma came inside to see what the weather forecast was for the coming week and discovered there is a chance of SNOW all week long. So much for planting the garden – there was no snow today but it did rain.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

05/02/13 There is a fire burning

Hi pals,

We have been having some nice sunny days with the temperature getting up to 79 degrees but get this, overnight we again had freezing conditions and the water in daddy’s tile saw was frozen solid this morning. Momma is concerned that the small plants she put outside this last week are probably dead but she hasn’t gone outside to check.

Now if that isn’t bad enough, there is a fire burning in the Sandia Mountains that is out of control. Thus far, we haven’t seen any smoke from the fire but the winds are once again picking up so we are paying close attention in case we have to evacuate. This is one of the major drawbacks with living in the mountains surrounded by beautiful trees. The dry conditions have caused trees to die thus adding fuel to any fires that might spring up. Also there are lots of abandoned properties with and without homes on them so they don’t have humans cleaning up the dead debris. We went riding around our neighborhood yesterday and saw a 1700 square foot house on 6.5 acres of land listed for sale at 29 thousand dollars (2 bedrooms/2 baths). It was listed as “U-Finish” – “As Is”. Also, our closest next door neighbor has listed her home for sale. Apparently people have decided they don’t want to live here anymore. Daddy thinks the economy is forcing them to sale as some have probably lost their city jobs and can no longer afford to have vacation property. There is so much property for sale here that one can get a really good buy.

Hugs and kisses,

04/28/13 The house is coming along

Hi pals,

All the snow has melted and I hope that is the last of it for this season. All in all, Puffy and I did pretty well with our first winter here in New Mexico. Puffy wanted me to ask if anyone would be interested in one used laundry sink as he is tired of getting baths and feet washes – BOL. He said he would even pay for all shipping charges using momma’s credit card.

The house is coming along. Daddy’s bedroom is now completed so the humans moved the bed out of the living room and into daddy’s room. Now we get to bark and bark at daddy when he gets up and down during the night but that’s okay because momma doesn’t sleep with her bionic ears on so it doesn’t bother her, but daddy sure gets upset with it – BOL.

Daddy has started working on the guest bathroom wall tile. I must say it is looking very nice. The humans need to get both bathroom wall tiles done so the Plummer can come back and finish connecting the showers in both bathrooms and the sink in the guest bathroom.

Puffy and I saw a herd of deer sitting in the shade of various trees yesterday. As we stared at them from the truck, they all just stared right back at us and didn’t bother to even get up. It was pretty awesome. We haven’t seen any elk lately but something has been lurking about in the dark around our property. The other night when Puffy and I went outside to do our business we were barking and barking, along with the dogs across the street at something. Momma told us to hurry up and get ourselves back inside where we would be safe.

Momma planted some morning glories out in the yard and then took some of Arleenton’s used cage cedar to spread around them with hopes that the local yard rabbits would leave the plants alone. Daddy said momma should have used the litter from Simba’s kitty box instead so today we are going to do just that. Momma also planted a tiny weeping cherry tree over by where Bay-Ling is buried. It’s so tiny right now that the rabbits could easily damage or eat it and the humans aren’t sure how to go about protecting it; does anyone have any suggestions?

So the humans continue to slowly work on the house and hopefully someday it will all be finished and signed off by the code enforcers. Momma thinks they are going to be really upset when they come back to do the final inspections and see that the house is already being lived in but that is the risk they will have to take because it got COLD living in the garage/workshop so they had no choice but to move into the house after daddy installed the attic furnace. Hopefully we will have an understand inspector and they will sign off on the house…keep your paws crossed – okay?

Hugs and kisses,

04/17/13 The sky is falling

Hi pals,

We have been having some really nice sunny days here in New Mexico although the wind has been blowing strongly and there were some adverse weather conditions bulletins advising winds of over 60 miles per hour might hit various counties (it was windy here but not THAT windy).

Anyhoodle, daddy told momma that snow was forecasted and she laughed saying it couldn't possibly be true as there wasn't a cloud in sight and the temperature was in the high 60's. So guess what happened this morning...Yup, it has been snowing on and off all morning long. It's a fine day to lay in bed and nap, don't you agree?

The house building is coming along. The humans were planning on finishing up daddy’s bedroom today but since the weather conditions won’t allow for doing door painting outside they are taking a break – BOL. Daddy is still sleeping in the living room on the Queen sized bed but Puffy, Simba, momma and I are REALLY enjoying the Cal. King bed in “our” new bedroom. Momma says she will take pictures once everything is put away and post them on Dogster so you can see how nice it is.

I need to thank my wonderful pal Mazy for suggesting that momma use wee-wee pads so that if weather conditions were bad Puffy and I wouldn’t have to go outside to do our business. I am no longer waking momma up in the middle of the night to go outside, instead I use the wee-wee pad and it has been working out great. I still go outside most of the other times but having an indoor potty is wonderful. Momma even bought some washable wee-wee pads so that she wouldn’t have to keep on buy disposable ones. She found a web site that sells nothing but wee-wee pads and they cost much less than what cost at animal supply stores.

Oh, got to go and see what is happening in the kitchen…I think I heard someone opening the cookie jar…

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

04/11/13 Mud and feet washings

Hi pups,

Can I come over to one of your homes to spend the week? I need a nice quite place to lay my head. I would really like to stay home but momma has been hammering and making lots of noise all day long and it is preventing me from getting my beauty rest.

Also, I'm really, really, REALLY tired of having my feet washed everytime I come in from outside. It's not right that I have to suffer a mini-bath simply because there is mud outside. Just what did the humans expect building a house without putting in a suitable yard for Puffy and me first? I've see daddy track mud in the house all the time and not once has momma picked him up and plopped him in the laundry sink to wash the mud off his feet - it's just not right!

Today the sun was once again shining and the snows were melting (thus more mud), and tomorrow the weather report calls for rain so it appears that I will have to endure more feet washing unless one of my pals will let me come visit for a while.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

04/05/13 We finally have a bedroom!!!

Hi pals,

I have some really great news from our home in New Mexico. Daddy and momma have completed painting, flooring and everything else in momma’s bedroom, sewing room and her walk-in closet. Daddy then moved the wonderful California King Bed frame and mattresses over and set everything up. Puffy, Simba, momma and me are now sleeping in style on the nice big bed. Next, daddy brought the sewing machine and table and put them in the sewing room. Momma spent hours carrying boxes and boxes of stuff from the garage/workshop into “our” bedroom. Today Puffy and I supervised as momma hung some pictures on the walls. We really love our new bedroom as it is much nicer than the one we had in California. There is a nice French door in our bedroom that momma can open to let Puffy and me out when we have to go outside to do our business. Daddy promises that after the house is finished that he is going to fence off the area between the house and the garage/workshop thus creating a courtyard for us so we will not be able to wonder freely in the dark where something might decide to make us their night time snack.

In other news, the deer have been returning from the upper mountains. We have seen lots of deer herds walking about however; the elk are still hiding in the higher area. There are baby cows and sheep in the small farms but the large cow range remains empty right now. There haven’t been any wayward cows visiting our property in quite a while, in fact, the whole herd of wayward cows are no place to be seen. I wonder if they got taken to the market or if they were moved to a different pasture.

Anyhoodle, the humans are making progress on the house and now they are working on finishing daddy’s bedroom so they can get the bed out of the living room and into his bedroom. There are still lots and lots of work that needs to be done but at least Puffy and I can be comfortable in “our” bedroom – BOL.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

03/29/13 What we have been up too...

Hi Pals,

The snows have melted and the sun has been out so I thought the humans might like to do something fun with Puffy and me, like take a stroll around the neighborhood. Instead, momma was outside putting tile around the door frame to hide the hole that was created when the French door in her bedroom was installed incorrectly. She chose really pretty Mexican tile and liked it so much she wanted to tile the concrete door stoop also but luckily daddy said that there was still much more work that needed to be done on the inside of the house so he didn’t want her doing the outside door stoop.

The good news is that momma’s bedroom, sewing room and walk in closet will be completed by next week. Daddy says he will bring the big bed and furniture over maybe this coming weekend. Momma is wondering how he is going to manage moving everything since she can’t help him.

Simba Blue, my kitty brother, made another dash out the house in the dark of the night and once again, momma had to hobble after him. He sits by the door wanting to go outside and if we lived in an area where there weren’t bears or mountain lions around he would probably be allowed to explore, but momma doesn’t want him to become something’s dinner.

Momma has decided that Arleenton’s cage will be put in the sewing room so that she is not isolated from the family. It gets too cold here at night so she can’t be put back outside like she was in California, besides, I like playing tag with her because she gives out tasty bunny droppings. There’s nothing like having a pal that gives you treats all the time – BOL, BOL.

The humans will next get daddy’s bedroom done so the Queen Sized bed that we have all been sleeping on in the Living room can be moved back there for him. Building your own home takes a lot of time and work to get everything finished. Sometimes the humans can’t work on it because of the weather and other times it is because they are just tired of doing work – BOL. It will be nice when it is all completed and we can go back to being LAZY!!!!!!

Happy Easter to all.

Coco Rose

03/21/13 Thank you for being my pals

Hi pals!

I need to thank all of my pals for sending me Birthday wishes and rosesettes as my page is loaded with all kinds of wonderful pressies. I feel so loved and special thanks to each one of you.

Momma has gotten behind on doing Puffy and my diary because she got injured. Yup, somehow momma managed to hurt one of her legs and is now in a lot of pain. Sleeping on the big bed with her has not been pleasant because she can’t get comfortable and ends up disturbing our sleep. It was so bad the other night that I finally got off the big bed and went and slept in the doggy bed that is in the kitchen.

Last night when Puffy and I went outside to do our night time business, Simba Blue snuck out of the house and went running around to the backside. Momma didn’t have shoes on and ended up hobbling after him because it was very dark and she didn’t want to leave him outside where something could eat him. When she finally caught him he was all the way to the back side of the house where it is still muddy so needless to say her feet were caked with thick mud, even between her toes. Luckily, she had already put down a wee-wee pad for my use during the night so she was able to use that to make her way to the laundry room so she could rinse her feet off using the laundry tub hose. Daddy laughed and laughed at momma as she was trying to clean off her feet. Puffy and I felt that she got what she deserved because she is ALWAYS washing our feet off in the laundry tub – BOL, BOL.

The humans are still working on the New Mexico house but because momma is injured it is taking even more time. Today momma managed to get down onto the floor so she could paint the lower portions of the door frames but then discovered that she couldn’t get back up without hurting her leg even more. It was pretty entertaining to watch daddy trying to help momma up.

Puffy is doing well on his pain medications and isn’t limping much. He is still licking the tumor on his leg so we know it is bothering him. Simba Blue is remains lost without Bay-Ling and may be depressed because his friend is no longer here. Momma is working on daddy to adopt an older cat from the shelter for him but daddy isn’t receptive to the idea. We’re all trying to give him extra attention but it doesn’t seem to be helping. Twice early this morning he woke momma up and she moved over so he could snuggle next to her but he refused. He is eating and drinking and visiting “Bluebelle” his love pillow so he isn’t in danger, just sad.

Anyhow, I’m going to go play with the balloons that Hobo send me and line up all the emeralds, stars, Easter bunnies, roses, cupcakes, birdies, spring flowers and other goodies I received – THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!!!!

03/08/13 Thank you pals

Hi Pals,

I’d like to thank all of my friends who sent Rosettes to my kitty sister Bay-Ling’s page along with the many messages of condolences for her crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Things here at home are not the same with her being gone. She was a very nice kitty and was never mean to Puffy, Arleenton or me, not like Simba Blue our kitty brother. And speaking of Simba Blue, he is totally lost without Bay-Ling. Momma let us all see and sniff Bay-Ling before she was buried but Simba refused to look at her and jumped away from her box and ran out of the room. Momma thinks he just didn’t want to acknowledge that Bay-Ling was dead. Anyhow, now Simba Blue is running through the house calling for Bay-Ling but of course she is not here. Momma asked daddy if he would consider adopting another female kitty that was between 8 or older as they don’t often get adopted but daddy is still in mourning for Bay-Ling and doesn’t even want to consider getting another kitty yet.

Yesterday it was really sunny and nice here in New Mexico, so nice in fact that the humans loaded up the hauling trailer and went to the trash transfer station in Zuni to get rid of some of our garbage (we don’t have trash pick-up where we live). Today, things certainly are much different. We had rain, sleet and now high winds with blowing snow – yup, Mother Nature is once again gracing us with snow. The bad news is that I really, really, REALLY needed to do a number two download so that meant I had to go outside to do it. Let me tell you that it was one of the most difficult potties that I have ever experienced. I thought the wind was going to pick me up and carry me away, plus I couldn’t see a thing because the snow was blowing so hard. Momma kept on telling me to “hurry up” but I refuse to do solid potties close to the house. I struggled with the conditions given and finally selected a place and did my business and went running back into the house to be greeted with a nice warm towel to dry me off.

I want to wish my wonderful boyfriend Hobo a very happy Birthday!!!

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose
