05/30/12 Daddy's New Mexico adventures continue

Hi pups,

As most of you know daddy has been in New Mexico "supervising" the build of our new house. Yesterday the building erectors were supposed to show up and work some more on the pad gradings. The good news is they did show up but not until after 1:00 PM - BOL. In fairness to the workers, they did stay until after 6:00PM so they got almost a full day's work in.

When daddy called momma tonight she could tell there was something wrong and when she pressed him he told her that the workers took the pad sites down 8" too much so tomorrow they are going to have to fill it in with sand and then compact it. If it were left as deep as they dug the concrete would cost much more than budgeted for and concrete is quite expensive right now so that won't do. The foreman visually noticed the error and told his crew that they would have to fix it so tomorrow will be spent correcting their mistake.

The post office mistress told daddy that she is coming to California next week and wanted to know if she should stop by his California home and bring anything back for him - BOL. Momma and daddy laughed and laughed as they are not used to small town doings yet. She is visiting a neighboring city from where we currently live. I guess nothing is private anymore.

That's all the news right now. Keep your paws crossed that the builders complete the erection of the buildings by the promised date of June 15th.

Hugs and kisses,

05/30/12 Dogster what's going on?

This morning I did my normal check-in on Dogster to see what all my pals have been up to and immediately noticed that the block with the Dogster Diary picks of the Day was missing. Since I have been encountering random fleas on the site I really didn't think too much about it and assumed it would be resolved quickly, however after waiting all day, it's still missing.

I think most of us here on Dogster have been very tolerant of the many fleas and changes that have been done but I must confess I am getting fed up. Yes, that's right, FED UP!!!!

Dogster please invest in a quality flea program because no one likes a dog that is constantly scratching.

05/27/12 First ever contest at Coco-Puffy Stuffies Rancho

In order to advertise Puffy and my new business we are holding a contest. For those of you who would like to enter all you have to do is leave a comment here on how many stuffies you think are in our toy box and the pup who guesses the correct amount first or comes closest to it will receive two stuffies. In the event that two pups are both equally close to the correct amount I will send each of you one stuffie. One vote per pup but multiple guesses are allowed for households that have more than one pup. The winner(s) will be announced here on Friday, June 1st, 2012.

Momma will post two photos shortly: One will show our toybox full of stuffies and the second one will show the stuffies dumped onto the big bed. Note: That is Bay-Ling my kitty sister helping momma count stuffies right behind the toy box, she is not one of our stuffies - BOL

Hugs and kisses and good luck to everyone.

05/26/12 I'm bored!

Do you want to know what I did today?

Nothing - that's what.

Momma was getting some stuff ready for the yard sale she is going to have so Puffy and I watched at a respectfull distance so she wouldn't be tempted to put us in the box and sell us too - BOL

I'm kind of worried because momma has been eyeing Puffy and my collection of stuffies. At the beginning of this year momma bought us a new, larger toy box because we ran out of room in the other one and now this now this one is full too.

When we move to New Mexico we will have 5.5 acres and since Puffy likes to take a stuffie outside with him but doesn't always bring it back inside so I think having an overflowing toy box is called for, don't you? Anyhow, momma seems to disagree and wants to donate some of them to the animal shelter.

Daddy is having a hard time in New Mexico right now. The first contractor who did the grading for the two pads did it wrong and daddy had to have someone else come and fix the mistakes. This required additional dirt removal so that the pads could be level. Since it is the windy season right now, all the loose dirt is acting like sandpaper on daddy's skin when he is outside. Also when he sweats the loose dirt sticks to his skin and turns to mud. He is also going stir crazy not having anyone to talk to and being stuck in that awful trailer. He doesn't have television reception yet so he can only watch movies on his computer, listen to the radio and read.

Well that all for today.

Hugs and kisses,

05/24/12 Put those hair clippers down

Hi pals,

Yesterday momma was still working on my “haircut”. Every time she tries to shave my legs I jump up on her and give her my big brown eyes and try to tell her that I want her to leave my legs alone. She shaves a little hair off then puts me on the floor but since my haircut isn’t complete, well at least according to her, she tries again later when she thinks I am more relaxed – BOL, BOL.

For those of you who are following the adventure of our New Mexico home build, the two steel buildings arrived yesterday and so did the building erectors, thankfully, because had the building erectors failed to show up daddy didn’t know how the buildings would have been off-loaded from the delivery truck. It wasn’t easy getting everything off the truck because one bundle weighed over 2000 pounds and had to be broken down before it could be taken off.

After all was off-loaded the building erectors informed daddy that they don’t work on Friday and since Monday is a holiday they will not be back to our property until Tuesday, that leaves daddy with four days of down time. They promised they would start doing the pads next week along with everything else that needs to be done. They estimate it will take three weeks to get the buildings up – we shall see.

After the buildings get erected daddy will come back home and load up the 187 boxes that contain momma’s kitchen and take them back to New Mexico with him so he can start the assembly (keep your paws crossed that he does them right and doesn’t mess anything up).

When all inspections are signed off and the buildings are approved for occupancy then daddy will come back and get momma and the rest of the family. Daddy has already told momma that she is going to drive her car to New Mexico with the kitties in it. I’m pretty certain Puffy and I are going to get to ride in the truck with daddy so we don’t have to listen to Simba and Bay-Ling holler the whole trip because they hate being caged and riding in the car. Momma says this is going to be very stressful and she is not looking forward to it.

Keep in mind that when we move to New Mexico the house will not be a completed home as the flooring, walls and everything else will still have to be done by both momma and daddy and I hope they don’t get into too many disagreements. Daddy is not a very patient person and tends to be very short tempered at times. I for one can already see trouble coming. If it gets too bad I may have to pack all my cookies and go hide out at Hobo’s place until everything is finished. I’m sure Hobo won’t mind if I bring Puffy and all of our stuffies with me.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

05/22/12 No bath for me

Hi pals,

I didn’t escape the clippers today but did manage to avoid getting a bath only because momma hasn’t finished clipping me because I wouldn’t stand still to allow her to complete the job – HeHeHe.

I’m going to try to avoid momma all day tomorrow so she can’t finish trimming me or give me a bath. Maybe I’ll go hide in Arleenton’s house because momma would never think to look for me there.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

The negative press regarding chicken treats for dogs that are manufactured in China continues. If you get chicken treats they are most likely from China so you might want to click on the below instant link to see what all the fuss is about.

05/21/12 It's hot here

Hi Pups,

Daddy is not enjoying himself in New Mexico right now. He has been there for two weeks and as of yet the pads for the house and workshop have not been poured. The steel buildings are going to arrive on Thursday and daddy is worried that the contractor who is supposed to erect the steel buildings will not show up to off-load them from the delivery truck. He is in a panic and doesn’t have a back up plan.

On the home front, I escaped my bath and haircut for the second time because momma was busy cleaning the house and didn’t get around to doing me. I guess I shouldn’t gloat too much because the clippers are still out and so is the shampoo. It’s been well over 100 degrees over here and muggy so maybe a bath and haircut wouldn’t be so bad but don’t tell momma I said that.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

05/18/12 Oh deer, some floozy has her eyes set on daddy

That’s right pups, here we are in California and some floozy in New Mexico has been giving daddy big doe eyes. Daddy says he looked up yesterday and there she was standing close to him all the while staring at him with her big brown eyes. He’s not sure how she got into our yard but figures she must have jumped the fence. Daddy got his camera and isn’t sure if he captured her photo but he said he would send it to us if he was successful.

On the home front, nothing has been going on here. Momma did some shopping today and then had a doctors appointment so we spent time in the sewing room. Tomorrow I am getting a haircut and shampoo which I am dreading because momma is going to do them. I'm hoping momma changes her mind and takes me to the groomers instead because the last time momma cut my beautiful hair she messed it up and it took forever for it to grow back. I certainly wouldn't want Hobo to see me with "choppy" hair.

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose

05/15/12 Packing

May 15th 2012 7:44 pm

I tried really hard to take my afternoon nap today but momma was packing some stuff up and making a bunch of noise. Sometimes I think she feels since she can't hear the noise she makes that no one else can either, which is completely untrue.

Daddy called and told momma that the builder still has not gotten the permit to erect the house so he is unsure of when he is going to be headed back home. He did put up his "office" so he would have a place to "think" at during the day (momma posted a photo on my page). I suspect daddy is going to be using his office a lot - BOL, BOL

The deer have not been seen in the lot behind ours as they ran off when those campers were making all the racket but I'm certain they will be back.

Daddy told us he almost killed the game wardens puppy the other day because the dog ran out in front of daddy's truck and daddy had to swerve to miss it. The puppy was on the main road to the house and not in it's own yard. Apparently people in the development are prone to allowing their dogs to roam. Momma told Puffy and I not to get any ideas because we are not going to be allowed to explore off leash.

One thing people there are telling daddy is that he needs to get some outdoor cats and a large dog to keep the unwanted critters away. Momma is willing to adopt some spayed/neutered cats but how will they keep warm in the freezing weather? We won't have a barn but will have the garage however it won't be heated. Any suggestions?

Hugs and kisses,

Coco Rose
