Part Pulling Mule?!?

Mom seems to think i'm part Pulling Mule! When someone attaches the leash to my collar, i just have to start pulling with all my might to drag them to wherever it is we're going!! I'm not sure why, it just seems i'm in a hurry to get somewhere!! I'm amazingly strong for my size...must be my low center of gravity! :) Mom is threatening to hook me up to a plow this spring and let me till the garden!....Sounds like fun to me!!

I also just found out i was the winning bidder on a cool bandana from the CorgiAid auction. I actually had bids on a couple of them. One of them was a Basketball themed bandana and it came with a basketball stuffie! Unfortunately, mom was not paying close enough attention and was outbid at the end!! She really does need to be more attentive to important stuff like this!...**Shrugs**
I'm sure i'll be modeling my new bandana when it arrives....**Oh joy, the dreaded camera again!**

Looks like i'm it!

Now I need to tell 7 things about myself.

1. I detest the vacuum cleaner...it's an evil entity that i must attack!!

2. I love to go for my morning walk with mom.

3. I keep the house free from spiders...yummy.

4. I don't shed as much as regular coated Corgi's...mom says that's a good thing. **shrugs**

5. I do require alot of combing to keep my long locks tangle free.

6. I've decided i like dried banana chips almost as much as cheese.

7. I would prefer my bum hair long instead of being trimmed all the time...it's just not natural!!!

All about me tag!

My pal Wyoming tagged me and now I have to list seven things about myself...which happens to be my favorite subject BOL!...

1. I am what's known as a Fluffy Corgi!

2. I'm the Frapping king...although since i hurt my leg, i've had to curb that activity! :(

3. I have a nose made of iron and i stick it everywhere! My favorite spot is in a mud hole!

4. I just love little kids, they're so much fun and always have tasty goodies on the bottom of their shoes!

5. I enjoy travelling to fairs and livestock events with my pawrents!

6. I love to sleep on my back with all four legs sticking up!

I got's an Owie!

A couple weeks ago, Mom noticed i was limping on and off on my left rear leg...usually only after i had been sleeping and first got up. Since it didn't seem to be getting better, she decided it was time to take me to the Vet to have it looked at. After x-rays and some pulling and twisting on my poor joints, it seems i may have injured my anterior cruciate ligament in my knee. It could be just a slight tear according to the vet. He said there was more play in it than the other one. Being a dwarf breed of dog, my limbs are shorter and my joints are more prone to stress than the average dog! Thankfully, he said surgery was not necessary at this point!! **sigh of relief**

I'm gonna have to take it easy for the next few weeks...which is not something i'm going to enjoy at all!!! I love being able to run all over the place in my big yard and rough housing with my dog pals...looks like i won't be doing any of that fun stuff for a little while.

I have to take some giant pills that are Glucosamine with other stuff mixed in to help my joints. These things look like horse pills, i only have to take half...but still, they're HUGE!! I'm also on an anti-inflammatory pill. I just hope this heals up and i can get on with having fun and running around to my heart's desire. Until then, i guess i'm just going to have to take it easy and maybe i can con the pawrents into a few extra treats! :) I'm just hoping it will get better and i won't have to have surgery!!! Yikes!!!

I'm still out of it from being sedated for the x-rays, so i'm off to take a nap. I'm not sure what they did to me while i was out, but i don't think i liked it! **Hmph!**

Heading to FarmFest!

It's that time of year again! On October 2nd, 3rd and 4th is the annual Ozark Fall Farmfest in Springfield, Mo. If it's for the farm, they will have it. The whole fairgrounds in Springfield will be covered with farm equipment, supplies and livestock! Once again my family and I will be attending. We will have our bulls on display and I will be there to greet all my adoring fans ;) This will be the third year i have attended! Mom and Dad have been going so long, they can't remember how many years! I'm looking forward to seeing old pals and making some new ones! If you happen to be in the Springfield area on those dates, stop on by and say hi! I'll be the cutest thing in the livestock barn...you can't miss me! **Smiles**
I even got my bum trimmed for the occasion!

Fun time at the Fair!

I'm back home from a fun four days at the fair! This was the first time i had been to this particular fair and i got to make lots of new pals! Lots of little school kids came through every day and, of course, i was very popular with them! I even got to play with two Corgi pups that were there...I made sure mom knew that there was no way i was going to share my house with either of those two...they were fun to play with but they were not coming home with us!!!

I got to get up close and personal with some miniature mules and some very big Belgian Draft horses, let me tell you, those horses were huge...one of their hooves were as big as me!!!! One of them had the nerve to snort in my face. I immediately barked back at him...the nerve! I wasn't going to let him bully me!! **Hmph** Mom and I watched the miniature mules with carts ride around the ring doing their thing! They made jingling noises with all the fancy harnesses they were wearing. I just sat there and watched them...it was fascinating!

There was this big obnoxious black bull across the aisle from us that kept bellering and making noise...i finally got tired of listening to him and i ran at him and barked to shut him up. It scared him and he jumped up! BOL! I got yelled at by mom, though! Sheesh, i was just trying to shut him up! He was quiet after that....for awhile! :) I do them a favor and i get in trouble...what's up with that? **shrugs**

Anyways, i had a fun four days but now i'm all pooped out and in need of a nice long nap!!

I was tricked!!!!

I was all excited Monday morning cuz dad had hooked up to the big red trailer. We got up really early that morning, so i knew we were going somewhere fun!! Mom put on my leash and we headed to the car....wait a sec, we don't take the car to go to the fun places. I started to get suspicious now cuz dad wasn't coming with us!! We finally get to our destination and it looks oddly familiar...then it hit me...we're at the V-E-T's!!!! I can't figure out why she is bringing me here!!! She explains to me that i have to stay here for the next few days cuz the fair they are going to doesn't allow dogs!! So now, thanks to that snooty fair....which happens to allow ugly, hairy, constantly crapping, methane emitting, gasbags called cows by the hundreds, but not a wonderful, cute, well behaved sweet pup like me...**go figure that one out**...i'm stuck here for the next couple days. It would of been nicer to have been taken to one of those fancy dog spa places where you're treated royaly, but oh no, they don't have those kinda places out here in the boonies!**Sighs**

Just when i thought the worst was over...on my last day...i was subjected to the dreaded BATH. Mom finally comes to pick me up from my prison camp and i'm thinking i'm just going to show her and ignore her...but as soon as i saw her i ran over and jumped up and gave her lots and lots of kisses...i just couldn't hold back my excitement! I'm still mad though...it's gonna take alot of extra treats before i forgive them completely! **Hmph!**
The only good part is i know they had to spend their time out in the miserable heat and humidity while i was hanging out in the air conditioning! That serves them right and maybe next time they'll think twice about leaving me behind!!!

I have been a very busy pup this month....i've already travelled to four fairs and getting ready to go to another....it's a tough job being the head greeter, but some pups gotta do it! Mom thought i was a little whiny at the last fair when mom and dad were loading everything up to go home. I don't consider it whining...i'm just making sure they realise i'm still over by the cattle and they don't forget to take me home with them!!!! **Geeeez!**

My fur is growing back fast....I sure hope i don't have to get another furcut before summer is over! **Eeeeeeeek!**

I hope all my pals are having a wonderful summer like me and i'll bark at ya later! **Waves!**

Cow Pies and Calf Cookies!

I was out on my morning stroll to check the cattle when i eyed a pawticularly juicy looking cow pie! Well....before mom could even react...i buried my face in it!!! You see, i figured if i could cover my face in it, i could take my time during the day to snack on it! Well...that idea was ruined once mom grabbed a handful of grass and wiped my face off...Geez, can't a pup have any fun around here!!! I wasn't thwarted though! A few minutes later i was able to snag a delicious calf cookie and devour it before she even had a chance to figure out what i was up to :) Score one fur me ;) Besides, when i went back to the Dogtor, i had lost a little over a pound and i think i deserved a special treat for that! Don't you agree? :)

I've got to thank my pals, Wyoming...for trying to sneak me some cheese from Wisconsin, Petunia Grace...for sending me cheese hidden in a yummy chicken hat, Darius...for his encouraging words and my sweet Izzi for not caring if i was a fatty or not! :) I just love all my pals!!!!

I will miss you dear Thumper :(

I got some very sad news last night. A very dear furiend of mine has gone to the Rainbow Bridge! Her name is Thumper and she was one of the most sweet and caring furs i've ever known. Everyone who knew her will know exactly what i'm talking about! She always thought of others and was there for any fur in need. I got to know her and her mom and i know her mom is hurting right now! I'm sure it was the hardest decision for her to make but the most loving thing she could do for Thumper. I'm so heartbroken over this news, i really can't think of anything else to say except that i will always love you and remember you fondly! Rest in Peace Thumper....

I don't like the mean Dogtor!

Last week i had my yearly check up at the vet. Everything went well until they took my weight and said the dreaded words....D-I-E-T. The dogtor said i was overweight!! I'm hoping my fellow farm dogs don't get wind of this...i could be kicked out of the club...whoever heard of a fat farm dog! BOL! I couldn't hide it under my fur anymore since mom took me in for that furcut...i knew that was a bad idea!! I tried to explain that i was big boned and more muscular than your average Corgi, but the lady tech rudely said it wasn't muscle covering my ribcage.....*what nerve*... I'm still sticking to my story!! So now mom has cut back my food and the only treats i get are carrots, apples and occasionally some banana! That's right....i have been cut off from my beloved cheese...can you believe that!! Looks like i'll have to brush up on my begging skills...could come in useful on kind strangers! Maybe one of my sweet pals can turn my pawrents in for abuse, or at least sneak me some cheese here in my prison cell...at least that's what it feels like...where else would you treated like this!!!
*runs off to pout and sulk*

On a more fun note, i got to go with my pawrents to a cattle show for three days. It was so exciting, i saw lots of cattle and people...i do love the attention! I was very good all three days...i didn't bark or try to nip at any of the cattle. I did bark a couple times when mom started up that noisy machine called a generator....i don't like things that are louder than i am!! I'm a pretty pooped out pup, it's tough going three days without taking a decent nap...too much excitement going on! I'm off to catch up on some much needed rest....*Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz*

I'd have to say that i'm Edy's French Silk ice cream cuz it's coffee ice cream with sweet chocolate bits and creamy vanilla! Being a tri-color, those represent all three of mine! Plus, it's sweet like me ;)

I'm feeling a little nekkid!

Yesterday mom took me for a ride. Little did i know what was coming!! Anyways, we arrive at a house....i'm thinking it looks like a nice place to play! Mom walks me around to the back of the house to a room that has a couple little dogs...they don't seem to be enjoying themselves. One is a little yorkie who is standing on a table getting a furcut and the other dog, looked like a small poodle, was wandering around trying to figure out how to escape this place. Mom talks to the guy a couple minutes and then....**gasps in horror**....she left me there! I know, i couldn't believe it myself!! Lets just say i was NOT a happy camper!!!

I won't go into the sorted details of what happened next! About an hour later, mom finally came back and picked me up. She looked at me a little funny and commented on how it looked like i lost 10 pounds! She then looked at the can that was stuffed full of my long locks of fur and started laughing! I'm not sure what she thought was so funny...all i know is, i was very happy to see her and couldn't wait to leave that place!!!

On a fun note....i did get to go over to my pal Dobie's house and we got to play for a few hours! Dobie did sniff me alot when i first got there, guess he didn't recognize me right away with My New Do! I'm not sure if i forgive mom yet for what she did...time will tell!!

What is it about Moles.....

I wonder what it is that makes moles so unappetizing to other animals! I have been known to catch them but I’ve never actually attempted to eat one and I’ve been known to eat anything and everything...even stuff that's supposed to be inedible, but that was when I was just a pup and didn't have the refined palate that I have today! BOL! I also noticed that even the cats wouldn't eat them and they eat all kinds of critters!
I have, however, attempted to cover my fur with their scent...especially when they get all bloated and have a pungent odor...something i just happened to do today! Have any of you ever eaten a mole?....maybe it's an acquired taste!!!!

Bum Pruning?!?

It seems that my bum hair has gotten too long once again! As soon as i saw the dreaded clippers....i knew exactly what was going to happen! It takes both mom and dad to get the dreaded clipping done....to say that i don't enjoy it is a.......... Gross Understatement! I growl and squirm around and when that doesn't work, i start whining and give them the most pathetic look i can! Nothing seems to work.....so i guess i'm doomed to the dreaded bum pruning once again....*Grrrrrrrr!*

I wanted to thank all my pals for leaving comments on my diary! I just love reading them and i like leaving them on my pals diaries too! Thanks HQ for this pawsome new feature!!

Wild Weekend!

It all started on Friday morning...we were on our way to Cabool Farmfest, an annual event we have attended the last several years! We saw there was a storm in southwestern Missouri and it was headed east! We figured we had plenty of time to get to the Farmfest and set up our display and unload the cattle! So we arrive about an hour later and about 5 minutes after we arrived, sirens start blaring and tornado warnings are coming up all over the area! Mom and Dad decide to leave the cattle in the trailer cuz it looked alot stronger than the large tent we were supposed to stall them under! There really wasn't any kind of storm cellar on the grounds so we spotted a concrete block building that happened to be a restroom and decided that would be the safest place to ride out the storm! Me, mom and dad all headed for the building along with a few other people that thought this was the most safe place to be! Fortunately storms don't bother me and i just sat there wondering what all the fuss was about! It got very windy and you could hear transformers popping as power lines and poles were swaying wildly in the wind! This went on for about an hour and we were really thinking maybe we had made a really bad decision on coming, not thinking the storm was going to be so bad! It finally subsided and when we came out the tent was still in place but there was a huge hole ripped in it and it was kinda lopsided! Smaller tents all had blown down and there was stuff blown all over the place! We were finally able to get the cattle unloaded and in place under the tent after they fixed it! Just a mile down the road there was a huge barn that had been completely demolished, there was tin wrapped around trees and scattered all over the place, it was then we realized how close to disaster we had been! There were some semi trucks that had been flipped on their sides and some highway signs that had been mangled and twisted! It was finally time to head home for the evening, it was dark already but we hadn't noticed too much damage on our way home, but it was dark and hard to see much! We get home and the house was still standing and the power was on, so we were happy! Then mom noticed the giant tree in our yard was no longer standing....it was down right next to the house! It missed the house literally by inches, if it had fallen just a foot another way, it would of hit our house...Phew, that was quite a relief! Looks like Dad and his chainsaw will be busy ;)

On the way back to Farmfest on Saturday morning, we could now see the damage that had been done by the storms! Fortunately Saturday was an uneventful day, weather wise, and i enjoyed all the attention from the visitors! I don't think we'll ever forget this years Farmfest for quite awhile!!!

I like to hear my whole song not just a cut off version....*Hmphhhh!* Why can't they just leave well enough alone....*Jeez* I guess i'll have to look around for another player for My Song!....After all....I am the true Prince of Wales!!!! BOL!.....*struts off*

Bulls in my Backyard!

It seems that two of the yearling bulls managed to push out the fence into my backyard and were roaming around eating the grass!! Don't those bulls know this is my territory and they are not allowed to step foot on it!!! I was not happy to see them in my yard and promptly started barking at them from inside the house! That alerted mom and dad to the intruders and they promptly went outside and got them back into their area!!! Mom was very happy to see that they had not invaded her garden.....that would have been really baaaaaad!!!!! Dad thought about leaving them in the yard a little longer to eat the grass, so he wouldn't have to mow the lawn, BOL!.....but mom was very adamant that was not going to happen!!!! Those stupid bulls left big divet marks in my lawn....the nerve of them!!! I went outside after they were put back where they belong and promply let them know they were not allowed in here again!!! I think they got my message :)

Dog Days of Painting!

I've been enjoying the last few days cuz the weather has been gorgeous! I've been spending most all day outside....i did get yelled at though cuz i decided to go check out mom's newly planted veggies and she told me to stay away from them! I'm not sure what her problem was...i was just sniffing them...Geez!!!! I'm all pooped out after a long day, so i'm off to take a well deserved nap :)

Hi, my name is Baxter, I am a male Boxer! I am 3 years old! If you don't already know, I ran away 4 days ago, but if you read my previous entry, I am having a blast *wink*! I started this game to get furs praying for me to return home! Here is what you do!

Cow Sense?!?

Mom seems to think i don't have much sense when it comes to the cattle! Lately on our morning walks, i've decided i don't like any of the cattle to get too close to mom! I lunge at their faces....that concerns mom a bit cuz they are alot bigger than me....about 1500 pounds more!!! I'm not sure what her problem is...i am a herding dog...i just happen to be a header rather than a heeler! BOL! I always chase the cattle away from our yard and i get praised for that cuz i keep the cattle from rubbing on the fence and trying to stick their heads through! I do have a fence between me and the cattle so mom says that's ok! She's decided it's not ok to do it out on our walks where i don't have any protection....so being the spoil sport that she is....i now have to sit nicely and not lunge or try to chase them when they approach! *Sighs...I just don't get these hoomans!* I wish she would make up her mind about what my job is on this farm!!!

My 2nd Barkday!

I want to start off by thanking all my furiends for helping me to have a wonderful 2nd Birthday! Thank you for the messages, pawmails, pictures, rosettes, gifts and most of all, for your furiendship...that is what i treasure the most!!! * Big Fluffy Corgi Hugs to all of you *

It all started yesterday, when i got to go to Springfield to my favorite place, Three Dog Bakery to get some yummy treats!!There was a chocolate lab named Cocoa and i thought she was very pretty. *blushes* I soon lost interest in Cocoa when i noticed the nice lady go behing the counter where the treats are kept. I immediately ran after her and sat there intently staring at her until she finally gave me one of those yummy homemade treats. Cocoa got one, too :) Next stop was Petsmart, where i got to pick out a squeaky duck toy!

This morning mom made me my special birthday treat...peanut butter and carrot cupcakes with cottage cheese frosting!! While those were cooling off, i got to go over to my pal Dobie's house, we played most all day and had a great time. When i got back home, i got one of my cupcakes and played some with my squeaky toy! I'm sure a pooped out pup now! I had a wonderful day and thanks to all my pals for being part of it!!! I Love all of you!

The snow has all melted but i have lots of treats!

All my fluffy white snow has now melted! But, i like to look on the bright side, cuz now i get to play in the mud.....Yay!!!

Judging by my page, i'll never go hungry! BOL! I just wanted to thank all my pals for the yummy treats they sent me....ya'll definately know the way to my heart ;)

I've decided my page will be a homage to the thing i love most in this world.........CHEESE! Hope you all enjoy it!

Yay for Snow!

We got about half a foot of snow yesterday! This is the first decent snow we've had all winter! I had a blast playing in it yesterday, although my whole underneath was covered in ice balls when i decided to come back in the house! Mom had to remove all my ice danglies, which took quite awhile. I wish she would take care about pulling out all my hair in the process....Ouch!!! My whole underneath was covered in them, some as large as a ping pong ball! She doesn't seem to understand that being the lowrider that i am, it's innevitable that i'm going to pick up ice danglies in that much snow! Geesh...It's all i could do to maneuver in all of it...i had to leap to get around in it!

Looks like another day to play in the snow...Whoo Hoo!

The Peepers have started to Peep!

A sure sign that Spring is just around the corner is hearing the Peepers (Frogs) singing! When mom and I were on our morning walk, we heard lots of peepers singing! There is a swampy area down our gravel road at the bottom of the hill and it was loaded with the singing peepers this morning...they were really loud!! I wonder if the Peepers will be peeping tomorrow when the high is only supposed to be 33 degrees and it's gonna be snowing! *shrugs*

The weather is calling for a couple inches of snow tomorrow...i know mom and dad aren't too happy about it, but i can't wait! I look so forward to playing in the snow...it's so much fun :) We've only had one snowfall this winter and it was mainly sleet, so i look forward to running around and playing in that white fluffiness of fun!

Yesterday i got to go with mom and dad to Springfield and got to go to one of my favorite stores, Petsmart! I even got a new toy....Yay!!! I call it my Crinkle Cow! It's a really neat toy...It's made of durable material and instead of having a squeaker, it has a recycled plastic water bottle in it...it makes the neatest noise when you squeeze it!! It even has a velcro opening at the end of it, so you can replace the water bottle when it gets worn out from being squeezed! I'm having loads of fun playing with it today!! So far, i haven't been able to rip a hole in it, either...and believe me, i've tried!! Mom will put a picture of me playing with it on my page, soon!

Well, back to playing with Crinkle Cow...I sure do love my Crinkle Cow :)

A saw a funny lookin' critter today!

Me and mom went out with dad to put out hay for the cows this afternoon! I was walking with mom in the back hayfield when i spotted this funny lookin' armored critter!!!! It was wandering around in the grass, digging and poking it's nose around in the dirt! It had Big claws and a long pink nose and a funny lookin' tail! I let mom immediately know i spotted something....good thing she had my leash on me! I went to run after it and mom pulled on the leash and stopped me! I never did bark at it....i only stared at it...i wasn't sure if i should be scared of it or if i wanted to go over and check it out! I acted brave in front of mom, though! Mom called the varmint an Armadillo! Now we have seen these critters before, but they were usually laying on the side of the highway! It didn't really take much notice of us, we were quite a distance from it! Mom and I decided to get a closer look at it, so we started to walk towards it! It must of seen us cuz it kinda jumped up and took off towards the woods! That little armored sucker could sure scoot! I tried to run after it but mom wouldn't let me :( He finally disappeared into the woods!

Well, that was my big excitement for the day!!! Time for a nap!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

I wanted to wish my mom and dad a Happy Anniversary...they've been married 27 years today! Wow...they must be old!!! Poor Dad, February is a tough month for him! He's got to remember Valentines Day, their Anniversary....and to top it off...Mom's birthday is next Week! He's doing well so far...he's two for two! BOL! I'm just trying to figure out a way i can get some treats out of this ;)

Happy Valentines Day!

I wanted to wish all my pals a very Happy Valentines Day!

I got the cutest Valentines Day card today from my pal, Millie! She has got to be the sweetest pup i know! Millie and her Grammy are very special! Even on vacation, they thought to send me the cutest card i've ever seen! It's got a picture of a Corgi dressed up with a bandana and cowboy hat....it's adorable! I just wanted to let Millie and her Grammy know how special they are to me and how much i love them both :)

Me + Mud = A Mess!

Let me start off by telling you that we had a storm come through about a week and a half ago! It started with about an inch of ice covered by 4 inches of sleet and topped off with 2 inches of snow! That may not sound like much to you pups that live up north but that was a big deal here in southern Missouri! The schools were out in our area up until yesterday!!! We just got some decent melting the last couple of days and finally saw some ground! Well...this morning, our yard looked like a mini lake in the low spots...it seems most all the melting occured last night! We were in the 50's last night! So you can probably imagine what the ground is like in our yard and for that matter, the whole farm!!!

A nice lady showed up to our house this afternoon to do an interview with mom and dad! She was from a local farm publication and they are doing an article about our farm! Now, i'm out in my yard checking for any furry intruders and any other interesting mud dwelling things, when the nice lady shows up and comes into my yard! I immediately go to greet her, and in doing so, i kinda jumped up and got my muddy paw prints all over her pants. Mom wasn't too thrilled by that and scolded me :( ... You see, she thought she had broke me of my bad habit of jumping on people.....guess not!!!! The lady was very nice about it, having lots of dogs of her own and living on a farm, she knows about dealing with mud!...Phew!! Mom said i even got mentioned in the interview! I should hope so, since i already gave her my pawtograph! BOL! The only thing i didn't understand is that she took a bunch of pictures of mom and dad with the cattle......but not one of me *shrugs*...that's gotta be a first!!!

Now that most all the sleet and ice are gone, i'm back to sopping up the mud and water...mom says my belly is like a sponge that sops up everything it comes in contact with! I do miss playing in the snow but the mud can be lots of fun, too :)

It's blue with white snowmen on it! My mom likes to have me wear different collars for the different seasons...i'm sure you get an idea of the season we're in now ;)

I eat anything edible and things that my pawrents don't necessarily consider edible! BOL!

3. What are your favorite treats?
My most favorite is CHEESE! I love cheesy biscuits from 3 Dog Bakery and mom makes me homemade ones with parmesan cheese...yummy! I also enjoy bananas, carrots and apples!

4. Do you have a Valentine or significant other??
Yes i do and her name is Izzi...this will be our 2nd Valentines together...she's very sweet and purty, too ;)

5. Do you get Table Scraps?
Hardly ever :( I think Mom and Dad are meanies when it comes to table scraps...they think i'll get too fat....hmph!!!

Ooooh, that's a tough one, cuz i love all my toys! If i have to pick...i'll say my Kong Wubba :)

Happy First Annifursary Izzi!

I'm dedicating my diary today to my sweetie, Izzi! Today marks the first annifursary that my sweet Izzi asked me if i would be hers! Yep...that's right, she asked me...if you know Izzi, you know that she's a pup that goes after what she wants...head on!!! She is also one of the sweetest pups i know!

We first met on a flight to Pawaii on New Years Eve! I sat next to her and those beautiful brown eyes captivated me right away! Our very first kiss was that night...albeit she had knocked back quite a few drinks...i think she still remembers ;) A little over a month later and we're boyfuriend and girlfuriend! It doesn't seem like it's been a whole year...like the saying goes, "Time flies when your having fun!" Here's to many more!!!

I may not be the most romantic pup around but i do try to be a sweet and considerate boyfuriend! I must be doing something right cuz she's still my sweetie today :)

WhooHoo! We finally got some snow!

The last time i got to play in the snow was over a year ago, it was love at first sight! I just love that fluffy white stuff...i have to bury my nose in it cuz i'm sure there is buried treasure somewhere under there!

It started out day before yesterday as freezing rain, which mom said was not good!! It was a bit slippery, although it didn't bother me too much....i actually was enjoying sliding around ;) All day yesterday we had stuff called sleet! I kept looking up to see what was dropping little ice pellets all over me....*shrugs*

This morning, there it was, a nice coating of snow! It was only a couple inches, but that is on top of about 4 inches of sleet! It is much softer to play in than all that sleet we had yesterday! Mom and Dad don't seem as thrilled as i am but they assured me it will probably last a few days :) I had a blast playing in the snow today! Mom was being a spoil sport and made me come inside every once in awhile....but i just kept whining and pestering her till she let me outside again...yep, i got her trained well!!! I am one worn out but happy pup now, so i'm heading off to the comfort of my bed to dream about all that fluffy white stuff that i love....*zzzzzzzz*

National dress up your pet day!?!?

I found out from my pal, Kaley Corgi from Club Corgi, that today is supposed to be a National holiday called Dress up your pet day!!!.....well, at first i thought it must be some kind of joke!!! I looked it up and guess what......it actually exists?!?! ( I'm surprised the post office and banks are open today! BOL! )

I'm pretty sure no pet came up with this idea....ok, i realise there are some of you out there that enjoy having clothing and what not put on you! I, on the other hand, definately do NOT!!! I do tolerate a bandana occasionally.....but that is it! Here, i thought i was safe after the holidays were over and wouldn't have to be dressed up in anymore outfits, and i find out about this holiday!!* sighs*

I hope you pups out there who like to dress up enjoy your national day....I will be doing whatever it takes to avoid having any clothing or costumes put on me!!!

Speaking of snow....we have yet to get any so far this year! I always enjoy playing in it! It sure is cold enough!! I can't even dig any decent holes cuz the ground is so hard :( Mom has been taking me every morning with her to check on the cattle! I get so excited when we go on our walks, as soon as mom clips on my leash, i grab one end of it and start dragging her towards the door!!! She just doesn't get going fast enough for me, sometimes! The calves are now about four months old and they come up and sniff me! I would really like to play with them but mom says sniffing is good enough...hmph...spoil sport!

Exciting News!

I just found out today that i am the 2009 Royal Prince of the Year in one of my favorite groups PDPC ! I was so surprised and honored to be chosen by them! They are such a wonderful group of Pups and Kitties! If you're not already a member, you really do need to check them out! You won't be sorry you did :) I would also like to congratulate my friend Bailey on being chosen Royal Princess of the Year....a well deserved honor!!!

I really can't think of a better way to start off the New Year of 2009! I hope the New Year brings all of you the joy and happiness you deserve!!!

I had a Wonderful Christmas!

It started out with me getting mom and dad up early in the morning! I went outside to take care of business and then i got my breakfast! Mom had all my toys and treats in my Stocking out of my reach.....that way i wasn't sniffing around the presents under the tree and wanting to open them before i was supposed to :)

Time to open presents......i got a new Kong Wubba....I just love that toy....i took off running around the house with it, squeaking and thrashing it!!!! Santa also brought me a loofah toy, some squeaky balls and yummy treats....I got some peanut butter treats, cheesy treats and a yummy tendon to chew on! Mom even let me have one of the special cookies my sweetie, Izzi, sent me for Christmas.....yummy! I got more gifts than mom and dad! BOL!

It was now time to go for my morning walk with mom to go check on the cattle...this is my favorite time of day...i just can't wait to go for our morning walk...if mom is running a little late in the morning, i start grabbing her pant leg and pulling her to the back door...don't want her forgetting ;)

After our walk it was time to get ready to go over to my pal Dobie's house...he's an Australian Shepherd and we have a blast playing together! Guess what....i got another present while i was there, it was a cool frisbee toy called a Flippy Flopper! I never had one of those before, i ran around the house with it hanging out of my mouth!

When we finally came back home, i was pooped out and promptly went to bed! Is sure did have a Wonderful day....I can't wait till next Christmas :)

Yummy Treats fur me!

Mommy baked me some special treats today! She made me some treats called Parmesan Cheese Treats! I spent the whole time in the kitchen with her cuz i smelled some yummy ingredients! I had to wait a couple hours because they had to be cooked and cooled! Daddy thought mom was making Christmas Cookies...she told him she was but they were for dogs not humans...daddy was a little dissapointed cuz he thought they smelled pretty tasty, too! BOL! The whole time i'm laying on the kitchen floor waiting patiently for a tasty morsel.

Finally, it was time for me to taste one.........yummmmmmy! I thought they were the best treats i ever had! I begged and begged till she gave me one more! They were crunchy and had cheese in them....can't get much better than that! She said i had to share some of them with my pal Dobie when we go to his house for Christmas.....sigh....i guess i'll just have to share them even if i do want them all to myself! I even bet my sweetie, Izzi, would like these treats :)

I'm sure going to have a fun Christmas...yummy treats and i saw that my sock was full...i can't wait to see what Santy brought me!

Ooooops!!!

Let me first preface this by saying that i'm normally a very good boy and rarely get into trouble! Now that i've said that, today i made a little boo boo! I went on my daily morning walk with mom to go check all the cattle.....it was a little icy out this morning! Well, i caught site of a kitty cat over by the barn and decided i needed to go over to see it.......well, mom had my leash on and i took off........and mom went down like a rock!!!!!! Fortunately she has plenty of padding on her derriere....(Oops,maybe i shouldn't of mentioned that part)......that only her ego got bruised! I never did make it over to the kitty cat cuz when mom fell, i ran back to tell her i was sorry and give her kisses.....i'm no dummy ;)

I sure hope this little event doesn't put me on Santa Paws naughty list!!!!! I really am a good boy, Santa Paws! I just had a moment of bad decision making!!! I promise to leave you extra goodies on Christmas eve night if you will forgive my one little faux pa :)

I Saw Santa!!!

Mom and Dad took me for a ride yesterday to go see someone named Santa! First they took me into one of my favorite stores....the one that i always get toys and treats from! We walked to the back part of the store and i saw this big guy in a red suit and a long white beard!!! I wasn't too sure i wanted to get too close to him......that is until i saw he had a yummy treat in his hand! Well, i ran over to him and he gave me the yummy treat....ummmm good! Next thing i know i'm sitting in his lap and some lady is taking pictures and teasing me by squeezing a squeaky ball....it sure did get my attention! I got another yummy treat from the guy named Santa....he wasn't so scary after all! I'm sure happy that i got to meet Santa......i hope he brings me alot of yummy goodies :)

I also wanted to let my pals know that mom put a Christmas tree on my page! You can leave me a virtual gift if you'd like! Thanks to everyfur that has left one on my page :)

I'm soooooooo embarrased!!!

I can't believe the stuff my mom makes me go through! It all started a couple days ago........she had the bright idea to take pictures of me for Christmas cards she's going to be sending to my pals! She puts this goofy looking red hat on my head and puts a couple holiday dressed bobo's next to me.....mind you, she won't even let me play with them....that's just plain mean! :( If that weren't enough, she wants me to lay still and look like i'm having a good time....I mean REALLY!! Maybe if she'd learn how to make pictures, she would stop subjecting me to this humiliation.......*sigh*

I overheard her talking about taking me to some pet store (now that is sounding pretty good), but then she mentioned something about having to take my picture with this dude named Santa! I'm not so sure about that.....i guess it will be alright as long as he gives me a treat or two or more!

I've saved the most embarrasing thing for last! My final humiliation came today. Mom and Dad said something about the hair on my bum getting too long and thick! Now, i remember them promising me they weren't going to use any clippers on me, at least till next summer.....i have proof of that somewhere in my earlier diary entries!!! So, they take me outside, and while mom holds me, dad takes his small clippers and starts clipping the hair on my behind! I must admit the clippers were very quiet, but it did tickle some. Then, to my horror, they were laughing and saying they had given me a POOP CHUTE Clip.....can you believe that!!!!! Will the humiliation never end!!!!

*Sulks off to find somewhere to hide until his bum hair grows back*

I was laying at the foot of the bed, minding my own business, when mom decides she needs to change the sheets on the bed! She goes about stripping down the bed....she's grumbling something about me being in the way! Excuuuuuse me....I do believe i was here trying to take a nap after a hard morning outside trying to dig up the elusive mole in my yard!!! Anyways, i'm not about to move off my comfy spot just cuz i happen to be in her path......hmph!!! She finally is just about done and on her last path around me, she almost stepped on the end of my paw.........can you believe that?!?!? She made some rude comment about me not moving out of the way. Well, i just glared at her....kinda like i do at the evil vacuum cleaner....and didn't budge!

I don't understand why mom and dad are always complaining about having to go around me or step over me.......just because i like to lay, stretched out, in the middle of everyones path!!!!! If i'm not mistaken, i was laying there already when you decided you needed to move!!!! So what if i decide i want to stretch out and completely block the path to any of the rooms or if i want to lay on the rug in front of the sink in the kitchen! I guess you'll just have to learn to go around me ;)

Very Sad News Today!

Mom just got a phone call from a friend of hers and dads! Their teenage son was killed in a car accident! Mom and Dad are devastated by this news, they've known this young man almost his entire life! They can't even imagine the pain his family must be going through at this time!

This young man had his whole life ahead of him and in a split second, it's gone! Kinda makes you think how precious and short life can be! Please say a prayer for this young man's family as i'm sure they are going to need all the help they can get to get through this horrible tragedy!

The Growing season is over!

Well Pups, the growing season here is officially over! It got down to 25 degrees the other night...Brrrr! Mom's Lantanas have bit the dust :(

Now, the cold weather doesn't bother me at all.......actually i prefer it! I get to spend more time outdoors! I also get to go for longer walks...so yeah, this is my time of year :)

Mom may not want to hear this....but i can't wait until it snows!!!!!

The leaves are starting to change!

Ahhhhhhh! The feeling of fall is in the air. Our mornings are starting to get cooler and the colors are just starting to change on the leaves! This is mom's favorite time of year and i like to too cuz it means longer walks and more outdoor time......Yeah!!! It's so beautiful this time of year on the farm....the grass is still green and all the new fall calves are running and kicking in the pastures!

Most of our long distance travelling is over for the year. The fairs are over and our last big trip was to the Ozark FarmFest so that pretty much is it except for the various sales we attend.

I've been trying to convince mom and dad to take me over to my pal Dobie's house....I just love playing with him. He's an Australian Shepherd and we both run and play with each other until we pass out! BOL! We have a sale we have to attend this weekend but maybe we can stop by and see him on the way home!

Oh yeah...mom made me some more Frosty Paws... I just love those things...Yummy!!!

Home, Sweet Home!

After four days of what seemed like nonstop activities, we are back home! The Ozark Fall Farmfest officialy ended last night. Mom and Dad are tired out, but they're old! BOL! I'm still rarin' to go :) I don't think i've seen so many people in one place ever! It was so crowded in some areas we couldn't hardly get through! I was afraid i was going to get stepped on :-O The weather was beautiful, which is probably the reason for what looks like is going to be a record attendance this year! I got alot of attention of course! Everybody that came by our stall had to pet me and tell me how cute i was ;) I still don't understand why alot of people think i'm a girl....maybe i should wear a bandana that say's i'm a Boy in big bold letters! BOL! Mom is starting to call me Pretty Boy....i don't think that is very funny!!!

We saw so many Corgi's while we were there! Maybe we should start our own Corgi Fest next year! BOL! I was, of course, the only Fluffy there! Everybody wanted to know where they could get one that looked like me.....mom told them i was one of a kind! I guess i'm not helping out the LCS (Lesser Corgi Society) any! Mom tries to explain to people us Corgi's are hard-headed, stubborn and ornery. We make look like cute little friendly dogs but we are herding dogs and we have lots of energy and need an outlet for all that energy. We also shed like crazy!

I'm happy to be back home for a little peace and quiet...I do enjoy the attention but after a few days i was starting to get a little tired of it! I figured out i could go hide under the display table when i needed some alone time! Mom and Dad were pretty busy and didn't have time to take alot of pictures, but did take a few. I'm sure mom will post them in the next day or so!

I'm heading off to go frapping around the yard now! I'll bark at ya all later!

It's Farmfest Time!

It's that time of year again, we're heading off to the 2008 Ozark Fall Farmfest! Four days of everything that has to do with farming! It is one of the largest Agricultural Trade Shows in the Midwest! It encompasses all of the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield! I'll be right there in the middle of it doing my best to meet and greet the more than 40,000 visitors that are expected to attend! Mom and Dad have been part of the Farmfest for the past 16 years but this year will be my second! I'm looking forward to four days of fun!!

I also wanted to mention that i was honored to be made Yappy Hours first Member of the Month for this October! I'm so excited, you all need to check out this great group! They're the friendliest furs you'll ever meet! Check it out, it's alot of fun :)

I'll bark at ya all when i get back! I'm sure my mom will take lots of pictures....i think that camera is permanently attached to her face....Sheesh!

Power of Da' Fluff!

My fur has finally grown back, at least most of it! I'm back to being my handsome fluffy self :) You see, my mom decided to have me clipped down to about an inch of fur for the summer! I really was more comfortable in the heat but i had lost my identity as a fluffy Corgi. For the summer i was just a regular Corgi....*sigh*! Well, now i'm back to proudly displaying my fluffiness! I can now strut around in my fluffy glory ;) Mom and Dad have promised no more trimming....at least till next summer! Fluffy Power!!!

It's my One Year Dogster Annifursary!

Today marks my one year Annifursary on Dogster! Wow, I can't believe it's been a whole year since i found this great website called Dogster! They say time fly's when you're having fun. I sure have had alot of fun making new pup pals! Dogster is also full of great information that i would have otherwise probably never found. I just would like to thank all my pals for making my first year on Dogster such a blast! Each and everyone of you are very special to me! That means you too, Izzi, luv ya ;) I hope there are many more to come!

I finally got FROSTY PAWS!

Well pals, i finally got to try this great new frozen treat....at least it was new for me! My pals kept telling me how great these treats called Frosty Paws were. I had never heard of them and mom looked through the freezer sections around the stores here in town but never found any. Now you have to remember we live out here in the sticks and are about 5 years behind the rest of the world! BOL! So, anyways......mom found a recipe from one of my Corgi groups on how to make these Frosty Paws. She finally made them for me yesterday and i got to have my first one today!!! I must say it was Pawsome.....almost as good as cheese....well not quite, but a close second :) Now i finally understand why all my pals loved these treats!

I was also named PDPC's Royal Pup of the Month for September! They gave me a great picture of me on a throne and i even have a crown! I guess i really am now a true Prince like my Corgi song says! BOL! I am truly honored to be selected and i thank everyfur at PDPC for this great honor! Please check out PDPC, they are such a great group of pups and i think you'll really enjoy being part of this great group!

The Big Yellow Bus is Back!

This last Thursday the Bus returned! It comes by at the same time everyday, twice a day during the week! I was so excited to see it again! If i'm in the house i start barking and running to the door when i hear it coming. If i'm outside i start running in circles until it finally comes by the house and then i bark hello to it as it goes by! I'm sure glad to see it back :)

I spent the last couple days up at the State Fair! This was my first trip.....wow, that place is huge! I saw all kinds of stuff. Of course there were the cattle, but that was no big deal, i've seen plenty of those! Mom took me over to watch the pig races that were right across the cattle barn where we were. That was lots of fun...i really wanted to chase those piggies but mom wouldn't let me, she can be such a spoil sport sometimes! I also got to see some really big mules...they were a little scary! One of the kids that had gotten a bull from mom and dad won Reserve Grand Champion in the show! They seemed to think that was a big deal! I just thought the show was boring....cows walking around a ring for two hours with bunches of people watching....I could think of funner things to do. I did enjoy playing in the sand. The cattle barns had sand in them for bedding for the cattle. I had lots of fun digging in it, i was sure there was some kind of buried treasure in it! That's probably as close as i'll get to going to a beach :)

Speaking of beaches, that reminds me of my pal Thumper and her pal Mambo! We have a parrot too, so we know how comical they can be! Mom is still laughing over that last Pawmail we got from you! Thanks for being such a Pawsome Pal, we luv ya!!

Well, i gotta run now...literally...cuz mom just mentioned something about a BATH!!! I better go hide! Bark at ya all later!

Busy Week

Hi pals, it's been a busy week here on the farm! I've been making myself useful as always! I am the yard guard, which means if any of the cattle or that noisy donkey get to close to my fence, i promptly let them know by running to the fence and barking my head off! Well, that worked on the new calves, but the old timers, they just stare at me and stick their big noses right in my face and blow snot on me.....the nerve of those ornery bovine! I showed them though, i stood my ground until they got bored sniffing me and wandered off! I showed them who was boss ;)

We just spent the last three days at another of our local fairs! We hauled our show cattle over early Thursday morning and were there until this evening! I always enjoy going to the fairs and having all the people come over to pet me and tell me how cute i am :) Mom, on the other hand, got kicked in the side of the knee by one of the heifers on Friday! Needless to say, she wasn't a happy camper! I gave her a big slobbery kiss and let her know it was no big deal. Sheesh....It's not like she's never been kicked before! That always does the trick :) I get so excited seeing all the people, i hardly have time to catch a nap! So i'm one pooped out puppy this evening! I barely have enough energy to dictate this entry! BOL!

Oh...I almost forgot, I was Dog of the Week at Dog Park USA i got to be the background for the whole week! It's a great group, you oughta check it out and you can sign up to be dog of the week, too! Thanks Dog Park USA :)

To top that off, I just received a Paw mail that told me i'm Member of the Week at Lets Paw-tae! group. This is a really fun group, if you're not a member already, you should go check it out! Thanks Lets Paw-tae :)

I had fun at the Fair!

Hi Pals, I had a blast at the fair this past couple days! I got to meet some new friends and visit with some of my good pals! My best friend Dobie, who is an Australian Shepherd, was of course there! We always have a good time together, he is one of the few dogs who seem to have as much energy as i do! BOL!

Mom had decided to enter me in the "Pet Idol Contest" at the local county fair! They had a few different categories including "Best Talent", "Obedience", and "Best Costumed"! Mom decided to enter me in the "Obedience" Category! I don't do costumes and she didn't think my best talent, which is looking cute, would really cut it with the judges! BOL! Well, guess what....... I won the Obedience division!!!! Yeah!!! That wasn't the best part, though, I also won Overall Grand Champion! I was so excited.....this is the first contest i ever entered and i won!!! I won a nice plaque and a purple ribbon! Everybody wanted to pet me and tell me what a good boy i was! They even took my picture for the local newspaper! Maybe i'll be famous now! BOL!

I also am now sporting my new haircut! I wasn't too sure about it at first, i scratched a little and kept shaking my head the first day.....they trimmed all that crazy hair around my ears and i didn't care for that much! By the second day, it wasn't bothering me anymore and i didn't seem to be affected by the heat as much as i had before! Well, i'm off to take a nap......I sure had a great time the last couple of days but i'm a little worn out now :)

Tomorrow is the day!

Well Pups, tomorrow is the day i have to get my hair cut! I do have my reservations about this but mom has assured me that i will be alot cooler with my fur shorter.......i guess i'll be the judge of that!!

At least i have something to look forward to at the end of the week! Our first cattle show is Friday and Saturday and i get to go........Yay!!!! I always enjoy going to the cattle shows and fairs, i always get lots of attention :) I do believe mom and dad use me as a lure to get people to look at their cattle BOL!.....hmmmm, i think i should get extra treats for that, don't you ;) Mom also mentioned there was going to be a fun dog show Friday evening and she thinks we would have fun competing in that! I guess if all i have to do is stand there and look cute, i oughta do pretty well! If by chance i look funny do to my bad hair cut, i could always compete in funniest looking dog! BOL! I could always pull out my bye-bye wave if needed!

I got to go to my two favorite places today!

Mom and Dad took me to Springfield with them today! I just love going for rides in the car! Our first stop was Petsmart! I just love going in there! I have to check out all the new toys! After i picked out my new Wubba ( unfortunately my previous one could not stand up to my excessive chewing ), we went up to the counter and i, of course, went around behind the counter and gave my best begging look to the nice lady :) Of course , she gave me my treat, and yes, she couldn't resist and gave me a couple more! I really do have these nice cashiers wrapped around my paws!

Next stop was the Three dog bakery! While dad was getting my treats, the nice lady was letting me taste taste some of her fancy little carrot cakes she had just made! Mom thought they looked good enough for her to eat! BOL! I sat there and let the nice lady feed me the tasty morsels....after we were done, i even gave her a wave bye! That one gets them every time and she gave me another little treat :)

Well, next week i have to go in for the dreaded hair cut! Mom says my hair is just too long for the summer heat around here! The cattle shows start the end of the month and she thinks it's just going to be too hot for me with all this fur! She promised me she wouldn't let them shave me, just trim it up so its not so thick and long! We'll see how it goes......I just hope i don't end up looking weird!!!

Its getting late and i'm pooped out from my trip today, i think i'll go snuggle up for the evening! Bark at ya all later! Have a Good Night!

A sad day!

Today i found out a good pal of mine, Buster crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday! He was 12 years old and had been battling bad arthritis! His poor body just couldn't take it anymore! Well, Buster, at least now you can run pain free! We'll keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers! I'm sure you will be greatly missed by your family!


The Rainbow Bridge Poem in honor of Buster.....

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

I found something interesting today!

I was outside wandering around in my yard when, much to my surprise, i came upon a shelled creature! Of course, being the curious dog that i am, i had to try and sniff it! Well, you wouldn't believe what happened.........that thing tried to leap at me and bite me.........the nerve!!! Now that made me mad.........how dare that creature try to attack me in my yard!!! So i proceeded to bark and growl at it, which of course made mom come out to see what was going on! I of course warned her about the evil little creature and assured her i would protect her from it! Mom proceeded to pick the creature up in a big shovel and took it across to the woods.........she called it a snapping turtle and said it was just a baby one! I didn't care if it was a baby whatever.......I just wanted it out of my yard! I made sure to yell at it as it was leaving........I yelled that it better not come back in my yard again........or else!!!!

After all that excitement, i think i'll go take a nap :)

I sure hope i don't end up lookin' funny!!!

Mom has been talking about getting my lovely fluffy hair trimmed for the summer! She posted a new picture of me showing how long my hair is getting, especially on my bum! She has been debating on how much to have cut off! *this makes me a little nervous* She has asked for advice from some fellow fluffy corgi's, in hopes of getting an idea of what to do!

The summers here in south-central misery.......uh i mean missouri, can get quite hot and humid! We plan on being outdoors quite a bit and mom just wants to make sure i am comfortable! Looks like i'll still have a couple weeks of my original "do" and then who knows what i'm going to
look like! Oh well, if i look too funny, i just won't let mom take any pictures of me......so there!!!

I thought we were going somewhere fun!

Well, it started out an exciting day! I could tell we were going to go somewhere. Us dogs just know these things. I watched as dad hooked up the truck to this big red thing he calls a stock trailer. Mom takes me out to the truck and loads me in the back seat in my custom crate ;) I'm all excited, wondering what great place we are going to this time. We always go somewhere fun when we go in the truck.....usually a place where i get to meet lots of new friends or sometimes we go to see old friends!

We don't get very far and dad pulls into this driveway of someone i've never met before and i look around to see where my adoring crowd of people are, and all i see is one person! Not only that, but they had the nerve of leaving me in the truck...Hmmmph! Well, after what seems an eternity, i hear the back of the trailer opening and then i see this animal........I have no idea what it is, it's got really long ears ( yes, even bigger than mine! BOL! ) and a long face. I can tell it's not a cow, cuz i've seen plenty of those. So they load this animal in the back of the trailer, it didn't seem all that thrilled to get in there! They finally get it loaded in the back and then all of a sudden i hear this god awful noise come out of it! I had never heard anything like that in my life! It just put it's ears back and opened up its big mouth and made some kind of loud honking noise, even it's nostrils were flaring! I, of course, started barking my disaproval of this noisy creature, but no one payed attention to me!

Mom and Dad get back in the truck and off we go again. After a little while we end up back at home. Dad pulls into the front pasture and gets out and opens up the trailer. Out strolls this funny looking animal that my mom called a Donkey! Strange name......but let me tell you, it was a strange looking animal! So this donkey wanders around looking and decides to start eating some grass. Mom gets me out of the back seat of the truck and puts my leash on! I decided i really was not interested in meeting this funny looking animal and wanted to go in my yard. Mom takes me and lets me loose in the yard and i decided to stare down this donkey, you know, show it who the boss around this farm is! The donkey then decides to come towards me.....well i wasn't afraid or anything like that, but i decided to go around to the other side of the house and bark at it from there! I decided i had enough of this donkey and went in the house with mom and dad as they were going in!

It looks like i'm going to have put up with it for awhile.........we'll see how it goes!!!

I didn't get much computer time yesterday, so i'm just getting around to thanking all of you who sent me Congratulations, Pawmails, PPR's, rosettes, stars and special gifts! I do plan on responding to all pawmails and ppr's that were sent to me! I also want to thank personally all who sent rosettes and such! Be patient with me as my secretary here is not all that speedy on the keyboard ;)

OMD......I'm Dog of the Day!!!!

I still can't believe it!!! Mom was checking her email this morning and she noticed there were quite a few messages from dogster.......then she saw the one that said i was Dog of the Day. Well, she nearly choked on her coffee! So, she goes to my homepage and yep, there i was, dirty nose and all on the front page!

Wow....such an honor! Thanks so much Dogster......I still can't believe it :)

I'm sooooooo excited!!!

Today was finally the day!

Today was the day i finally decided to show that big loud blue thing my mom calls a vacuum cleaner who the boss of this house is!!! Mom is sure i had been secretly planning this for weeks now.

In the past i would always leave the room when mom would bring this evil creature out of the closet......I also would jump in dad's lap if he was home.....Now i want to be clear that i did not jump in his lap because i was scared, it was because i was protecting him from the evil beast!;) Lately i have been watching it from a distance, giving it my scary glare whenever i saw it pass by! Mom thinks i just don't like it because it's louder than i am.....which by the way is hard to do!

Today, mom took the beast out of the closet and instead of leaving to go to another room, I decided i would just sit there a little ways from it. So, finally she turns it on.....aha my chance has finally arrived!! I immediately leaped on it and bit it as hard as i could........and then it was silent! I did it, i finally killed the monster. I was so pleased with myself, but as i trotted off i heard that awful sound again! This time it took off the other way from me. Oh well, i guess i only did minor damage but now it's scared of me.....so that means i have won the battle! Mom just hopes now there will be peace between us!!

I'll have to think about that!

My First Barkday!

Well, yesterday was my first Barkday and i sure had alot of fun! Mom took me for a long walk around the farm in the morning........it was a beautiful day, sunny and warm! I was fascinated by the smell of some deer hoof prints i found......I just wanted to stay and sniff around them but mom eventually made me leave them!
When we got back home, mom had made me a special birthday cake! It was a peanut butter and carrot cake with cottage cheese frosting with baby carrots! It was delicious, too!!! I spent most of the day outside playing..........which for me means digging holes and chasing things :) I also love to play fetch with my green squeaky ball, mom and dad took turns throwing it for me.....I never get tired of that! When i came back in the house it was time for a nice nap, i was finally tired out! I sure did have a fun day!!!

I wanted to thank all the pups and kitties who sent me birthday wishes, Pmails, rosettes and PPR's and let you know how much i enjoyed hearing from all of you!!! You all sure know how to make a pup feel special! What i really cherish most of all is your friendship, thank you so much for that!! I just wanted to let you all know that i luv each and every one of you and to thank you for making my first Barkday a very special one!!!

Indestructable Stuffy Toy!

Mom and Dad took me to Springfield with them for the weekend. They had some thing they had to attend....anyways i got to go to my two favorite places, Petsmart and Three Dog Bakery!!!

We first went to Petsmart so i could get some more Bil-Jac liver treats, i just love those things....the stinkier the better! Of course i wanted everyone in the store to pet me.....i'm completely offended if someone tries to ignore me! We walked down the aisle with the stuffed toys and mom explained to me i can't have anymore of those kind of toys, because i destroy them within a day, needless to say i was very dissapointed! So we finally get to the checkout and i immediately run behind the counter cuz i know exactly where those treats are and of course the nice man gave me some......yummy! I wish they would place them a little lower, then i could just help myself :)

Next stop was Three Dog Bakery, first thing the nice lady that owns the shop let me sample some new treats she was making, they were very tasty! While dad was filling up a bag of goodies for me, mom was looking at some new stuffed toys they had. These were supposed to be very tough and durable, even for stuffy destroyers like me.....hmph! Mom was very skeptical, but she decided she would get one and see! She looked around and finally picked out a round toy with a hole in the middle of it, it looked like a smashed donut! It had a squeaker, so of course i loved that!

We get home and mom gives me my new toy and i immediately start running around the house with it in my mouth. After the initial excitement i decide to lay down and give it a real working over....i start chewing it and growling at it and i finally ripped off the little hanger thing on it.....mom knows better than to leave those on, so she cut what was left of it off. Well, i worked it over for a full two hours and it is still in one piece....so far mom is impressed! It has lasted now for more than 24 hours.....a new record for one of my stuffed toys! I'm not giving up yet, though, I still think i can destroy this toy......just give me a little more time!!!

The Floods!!!

Well, we made it through the flooding.......phew!!! We received just shy of 11 inches of rain in 48 hours......that's one inch shy of a foot of rain!!! I had to spend the last two days stuck in the house, only getting to go outside to go potty. The whole yard was covered in water and as short as i am it doesn't take much before i'm in up to my belly :) Fortunately our house sits on a hill overlooking the rest of the farm, so no water in the house and just a small amount in the basement, which the sump pump took care of! Mom talked to our 80 year old neighbor who has lived here all his life and he said he's never seen anything like this before!!

The pastures and hayfields looked like lakes and rivers with all the running water. We had to move one of the cow herds to higher ground.......just to be on the safe side! Miraculously, none of the fence got washed away.......mom took me for a walk around the farm today to check all the fencing, just a bit of debris around the fences, but all standing!

Mom took me with her to town this morning and the road leading out still had close to 3 foot of standing water in it, but mom decided to drive the truck through it.......not a bright thing to do......she made it through but decided to come back home the back way, duh!!!

Today is sunny out and supposed to be around 65 degrees.......I think i'll spend some time laying outside soaking up all that warm sunshine and drying out ;)

A Typical day on the Farm!

It starts early in the morning, i make sure mom and dad are up early......with the recent time change, that means it's still very dark outside. Dad is a morning person anyways but mom.....not so much :) First thing is letting me go outside to get my business done and chase a few rabbits, those rabbits know all they have to do is run through the fence to the other side and i can't get to them.....i think they enjoy teasing me! When i come back in the house i get my breakfast!

Now it's time to go check on the livestock, it's spring calving season right now so first thing is going to check on the spring calving cows, always very exciting to find the newborn calves. I have to stay in the truck though, cuz the mama cows really don't care for me to be near their babies! When the calves get a little older, then they tolerate having me around them, in fact the calves love to chase me! Mom likes to take me for walks out amongst the cattle with older calves so they get used to me! They know the difference between our dogs, and don't pay any attention, and strange dogs which they promptly chase out of the field!

Now it's time for morning feeding. Mom goes out and feeds grain to the yearling bulls and heifers while me and dad supervise. Dad can't do any kind of lifting with his shoulder until it's all healed up from the operation, so me and dad hang out while mom does the feeding. Next is putting out the hay, mom gets on the tractor and starts putting out the big round bales of hay in whatever field of cows that need it. Me and dad make sure none of the bulls leave the field while all the gates are open. While mom is putting out the hay, she checks on all the cows and calves making sure they are all doing well. The fall born calves are getting quite big and it's almost time to wean them.

Time to back to the house and do whatever chores need to be done around the house. We have to go back out and fix some fence later on......can't have the cattle wandering the roads! BOL!

Now that we have finished fixing the fence, it's time for the evening feeding, once again need to feed grain to the yearling bulls and heifers. Mom and Dad have all their cattle bucket broke, which means anytime we need to move cattle to different pastures, all they have to do is call and rattle the feed bucket and here they all come........just don't want to stand in the way! BOL! One last check on the spring calving cows before dark. Have to keep an eye on the first calf heifers ( the ones that are having their first calf ), if they look like they might be getting ready to calve, either mom or dad checks on them again later in the evening! Most of the time there aren't any problems but sometimes they need a little help, that's why they are kept up by the corral, just in case!

Just this evening, we got a call from one of the neighbors saying there was a calf out on the road and thought it might be ours. So we all jumped in the truck and headed out where the calf was spotted......it wasn't one of ours but we thought we knew who's it was......so with some help from the neighbors we were able to get the calf back to where it belonged!! Never a dull moment around here! BOL!

So that's a typical day here on the farm for this time of year. Depending on the season, different things to do. So goes the life of a farm dog and i wouldn't have it any other way!

Enough with this Crazy weather!

The weather here this winter has just been nuts! It's been anywhere from 68 degrees, which we rarely get in the winter to 8 degrees, which is fairly cold around these parts, and mind you that temperature change took effect over only a couple days!!!!

We've been under several tornado warnings in January and February, we do live in an area that gets tornadoes, but not in January and February....eeeek!

We've had snow this winter, but not as much as usual. I love playing in the snow, i run around and root in it! :) We've had more than our share of ice and sleet, though! I do not enjoy slipping and sliding on the ice, even with my short legs, i have a hard time getting around on it!

Right now, we are getting a combination of sleet and freezing rain and on top of that i hear the booms of Thunder!!!!

Pawlease, I've had enough of this crazy weather...................Spring can't come soon enough!!!!

Yay!, Dad's back home!!

A few days ago, mom had to take dad to the hospital to get his shoulder operated on. Mom said he was getting shoulder replacement surgery. By the way, the hospital is two hours from home! So mom was running back and forth between the hospital and the farm. They wouldn't let me see him though, mom said i couldn't go in the hospital to see dad! I sure did miss him, i would sit in his chair at home and just look sad. But no more cuz mom brought him home yesterday, i'm so happy!! The hospital let him go home a day early because he did so well after surgery, my dad is a pretty tough guy!

Now, i can keep dad company while he recovers from the surgery. Mom said he won't be able to even move that arm for six to eight weeks! That means mom has to take care of all the farm chores herself! She's happy that this time of year is slow around the farm but there is still plenty of work to do! Of course, i help out too, kind of :) Anyways, i'm back to my cheery self now that my dad is back home, Yay!!!

I just wanted to thank my Secret Santa's this Christmas! I want to thank Mylie Jade fur my Green Stuffy Crab, Kong Wubba and the tennis balls!!! I love them all!!!

My very first snow!

Wow, This morning i got to experience my very first outing in the snow! When mom first let me outside, I looked around, then i started burying my nose in the snow! I'm pretty sure there must be some buried treasure under it! BOL! Then i started running around the yard in circles really fast, of course i do that all the time anyway! I think i really like this cold wet stuff! Well, i better get back to rootin' in it cuz it's already starting to melt and it will be gone by tomorrow!!!

Graduation Day!

Woooo Hoooo! I'm so excited, yesterday was my graduation test for my basic obedience class! For some reason my mom seemed nervous, but not me, I was totally excited! Anyways, I went through all my required commands and guess what, I passed, I got a score of 147 out of 150! I think my mom must have done something wrong cuz it sure wasn't me{BOL}. Mom is thinking of signing me up for the intermediate course, where i could get my CGS {Canine Good Citizen} Certificate! I think that would be cool! Anywho, I hope i get extra treats today!!!
