Leave a bone for Jeff (RIP)

Arrival Story:
Upon moving to our latest house, it seemed that 99.9% of the people walking around our area had a dog (or 2). I'd been wanting a dog for quite some time, but the yard at our last house was too small. After stopping in at a PetSmart for cat food, I saw several dogs available for adoption. Most were barking their fool heads off, but way in the back, I saw a dog, quietly sitting. He's the dog for us! While he was 8 years old at the time, it didn't matter to me. His story touched me deeply. Apparently, his former family moved away, and were unable to take Jeff with them. After EIGHT LONG YEARS of devotion to his family, they took him to the vet to be put down. Luckily the vet put a stop to it, and called a local rescue group. We had Jeff for 4 wonderful years, until he passed away on February 1, 2007. I miss him terribly, and hope we gave him the best 4 years of his short life.
