Food Pets Die For: by Ann N. Martin

F ood Pets Die For goes far beyond the typical cookbook recommendations now available for feeding your pets. The author explains and documents why most commercial pet foods are dangerously unhealthy for animals, and then provides the most updated and accurate information for deciding what to feed your animal companions--whether buying pet food in the store or cooking for your pet.

So Sorry!! It,s so sad that we can,t trust any of the food or treats that we give our best friends. Scooby and I will say a prayer for you and Rosie, and all the others that has been lost due to the humans that didn,t care what they sold to the public. I try to keep up with the news on this problem, but every day it,s something new. So Scooby gets homemade food now, I lost a dog named Bubba and I,m almost positive it was from something that I gave him. It still breaks my heart, because you just never know! Rosie will be in our prayers, your dog pal, SCOOBY & MOM

I am so sorry for your loss.We do everything we possibly can to keep our babies safe. It's a terrible thing when we feel like the food "we" give them isn't safe.

This is one of the many reasons Kaya gets fed on the BARF diet - too much bad press has been given into branded products (here in the UK, at least) that you simply can't trust them. I think it's disgusting that manufactures can get away with it - these are lives they are playing with, our companions, our animals, our best friends - and all they care about is money.

I'm sorry for your loss, but grateful that you are spreading the message. If one dog gts a proper diet through the awareness you have made on this post, that's one dog you have saved and that is something you should be extremely proud of.

With love and warm thoughts,

-Kaya and her companion, Charlie. Xx

I am so very sorry for your loss. After all the bad publicity about dog food the last go around (our dogs were on Nutro) I decided to start cooking their food. They are so much happier and healthier and once you get used to it, it's not a big deal. I add "missing link" to their food as well (per their vet) for vitamins as well. There's is nothing healthier for them, I am convinced.

Whether poisoned by careless disregard or intentonal harm, no pet should have to go through this kind of suffering. That your passing may not have been in vain,
we pray your message will educate pet lovers in every land.

I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. I started feeding a raw diet to my greyhounds after having ongoing problems with dry food and the improvement in their health, energy and appearance is absolutely amazing.

I lost my first beloved greyhound to cancer and often wonder if a raw diet would have improved his life as he suffered severe food allergies to kibbles.

We will keep you close to our hearts and in our thoughts.

With love, Mel Greyhound and family

I am so sorry for your loss of Rosie. So sad. I always check to see where treats are made, and never EVER buy anything made in China for them. They think nothing of killing the dogs in China, plus they use poisons in human products they export to us, so why would they care about OUR dogs? Be careful of rawhide treats...some are treated with arsenic for preservative! Some say treated by irregation, but if you see "Not for human consumption" on the package, DO NOT buy it!

That does not suprise me. Most pet food companies don't care about your or any animals. Look at Iams pet food, a subsidiary of Proctor & Gamble who kill over 80,000 animals a year in laboratories. Real life houses of horror hidden from view by the facade of scientific research but which in reality is torture and murder they claim they do it for us but the billions of dollars made annually will attest to there true intent. These companies care about no one but themselves and they all pray to there one true God The Almighty Dollar. maybe when the last tree has been cut down, the last river polluted the last fertile soil turned into a sterile wasteland they will finally realize money can't be eaten. If anyone would like a list of companies that do and don't test on animals please contact me. You would be suprised at how many seemingly harmless purchases of products you use every day are from companies that participate in acts so horrific it would make Hitler look well..... much less unpleasant The images of vivisection atrocities will always haunt me. btw I have PDF format posters available for dowload free upon request for anyone wishing to use them for outreach, anti vivisection protests or tabling.

I am sorry that my subject matter has drifted away from the purpose of this tribute to your baby Rosie. I do feel your loss as I have suffered the loss of a much loved for legged friend and even today years later I cannot think of it without tears. I hope that my post will influence some of your visitors to learn more and adjust there purchases and efforts accordingly. What better tribute to Rosie and her life than a boycott of any companies who harm animals.

Keep it Wild!

Rosie, I am so sorry this happened. Theses stories are way too common.

God bless you and your family...

"Lend me a pup"

I will lend to you for awhile
a puppy, God said,
For you to love him while he lives
and to mourn for him when he is gone.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years,
or maybe for two or three
But will you, till I call him back
take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you
and (should his stay be brief)
you'll always have his memories
as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise that he will stay,
since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below
I want this pup to learn.

I've looked the whole world over
in search of teachers true
And from the folk that crowd life's land
I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love
Nor think the labour vain
Nor hate me when I come to take my pup back again.

I fancied that I heard them say
"Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done,"
For all the joys this pup will bring,
the risk of grief you'll run.
Will you shelter him with tenderness
Will you love him while you may
And for the happiness you'll know forever grateful stay.

But should I call him back
much sooner than you've planned
Please brave the bitter grief that comes
and try to understand.
If, by your love, you've managed
my wishes to achieve,
In memory of him that you've loved,
cherish every moment with your faithful bundle,
and know he loved you too.
