Arrival Story: Goldie came from a shelter in a small Georgia town and put on the transport north. She was fostered in Nyack, NY by a friend who called to tell me she'd gotten some sweet shepherd mix dogs. I took the bus up from NYC the next day. It was love at first sight and we went home together.
When we went for walks she seemed terrified. She'd stop short and look at (what I thought was) nothing, was hyper-vigilant and seemed very spooked. I soon learned she was a Carolina dog! She's got an incredibly keen prey drive and the imaginary things she heard and smelled were real!!!!
Bio: I'd never heard of Carolina dogs or American Dingo dogs, as they're known. She was a six-month old pup with the calmest demeanor anyone had ever seen. She was polite and obedient from day one and knew sit and paw - so I'm thinking she had an owner. She's reserved with people on the street but her love for every dog she sees is a beautiful thing. She's friendly and playful. Dogs who are shy are often relaxed in her non-threatening presence. She can sense when a dog isn't interested and ignores him or her.
